When does everyone get out on the water? I would love to show up when
other experienced members are around so I know where all the equipment
and such is stored...and any unsaid routines that I need to know
about. I have quite a bit of sweeping experience (4 yrs of
undergrad) and a some experience sculling.
Please let me know some times. I am dying to get back on the water
after a year without rowing.
Thanks,
Heather

FCRA Results: Women's Quad came in 3rd out of 5 (all others RMRC), 1 second behind second place boat. Women's Double came in 3rd out of 4 in our heat (2 RMRC and 1 BCR), 3 seconds behind second place boat.
Note: RMRC is home to the 2008 San Diego Crew Classic Women's Club Champs, 2007 Master Women's Club (C) 4x National Champs, and 2007 Master Women's Open (C) 4x National Champs. FCRA was extremely competitive against these amazing women!!!
Any men planning to go to Masters Nationals in Long Beach August 14-17th?
Please welcome Kristian Johnson as a new member to include on your daily rowing schedule. He will only be around for about a month and has experience and is anxious to get out on the water! Contact info is kristian_johnson@...
Any men planning to race at Row The Rockies in Littleton on Saturday, July 12th? Women are bringing the quad and both doubles. It would be great to race mixed doubles and mixed quad!

BCR is now even happier because we can announce our third (and more) in a series of sculling clinics!
All of our clinics are intended to benefit those who scull by providing coached, technique-oriented sessions on a one-off/series basis, and to encourage the use of independent, smaller boats as a way to get more time on the water and become a better all-around rower.
We also want to provide support to those who would like to take their sculling to the next level, improve their racing experience/results or possibly race for the first time. For the months of July and August we will be offering a series of clinics which focus on intermediate and advanced sculling topics. We are extremely fortunate to have a highly qualified and superbly recommended coach: Greg Ruckman, who has rowed with the US National Team, competed at the Olympics and at the FISA World Rowing Championships many times.
The clinics are open to BCR members and non-members on a first-come, first-served basis. Scullers may reserve BCR equipment or provide their own boats. Equipment is limited, so sign up soon!
You may register for either one clinic at a time, or the entire set.
DATES: July 9, 16, 23 and August 6, 8 (all Wednesday, except last clinic which is Friday)
TIME: 6-8 AM
WHAT:
July 9:The Learning Process - Enjoy identifying and experimenting with elements of the rowing stroke;
July 16:Efficient Steering and Gauging Run-Steering during practice and racing; feeling movement of the scull relative to the water;
July 23:Speed through Technique and Rate Changes- Increase boat speed through technique, and making rating shifts;
Aug 6: Moving as One- Putting strokes together with fluid motion of your boat, including moving with a partner in 2x; maximize speed through the water and minimize other motions;
Aug 8:Racing Strategies and Standing Starts- Standing starts, first strokes, moving through 500m, 250m to the finish;
COST: $25 per session for members, $35 for non-members. Note, each day is a separate session.
HOW: For more information, to reserve equipment and/or sign up for this clinic, please email Jennifer Quilling , jqwerkes@..., or call her at 303.818.2851.
Greg will also be available for private or semi-private lessons after the scheduled clinics and/or on adjacent days if equipment is available; please contact Suzanne Pinto, "Suzanne Pinto" <suzannepinto@...> to make arrangements.
Information about this and other clinics in the series will be posted on the BCR website ( www.boulderrowing.com/ScullingClinics/) as the details become available. Our goal is to offer at least one a month throughout the rowing season.
Due to lack of interest in the beginning sweep clinic on July 5, I'm changing it to an advanced sculling clinic; our coach, John Davis is fine with that. Same rate, $30.00 per rower. Wait, I've got a better deal: I'm throwing in $10 off coupon for those that are participating in the advanced sweep clinic on July 6.
As of right now, I've got two port oar spots available for July 6.
Sculling on July 5 sign ups: two so far have expressed an interest in the July 5 sculling clinic and I think it will fill up fast. We have 3 quads and I'm aiming at filling up two quads for sure.

Subject: [LongmontScullers] Re: Rowing and Sculling Clinic at Union
I just wanted to pass along updates about the Clinic - first off, it will no longer be at Union, and second - it's just going to be sweep at Cherry Creek. The details are here if you are interested. The change was due to the logistics of them getting their wakeless launch up here, and my uncertainty if our would be ready in time.
Our friends from the Rocky Mountain Rowing Club are going to be hosting a Rowing and Sculling clinic at Union over the 4th of July weekend. Below is the header and a link for more information. If you're interested, please contact RMRC to sign up!
The clinic will be run out of the main side of the reservoir, not at LSC, and as an added bonus, a percentage of the profits will come back to LSC from your participation.

DATES: June 7 and June 8 (attend just one or both)
TIME: 6-8:30AM
WHAT:
June 7: Posture and Position: This clinic will address the entire sculling stroke, with emphasis on correct hand and body positioning for both the drive and the recovery. Using a variety of pause drills, scullers will focus on posture, balance and connection needed for an efficient sculling stroke. Approximately 1.5 hours on the water including video taping, then there will be a one-hour video review.
June 8: The Catch and Control: The first part will include instruction focused on the "feel" of the catch and efficient power application at the start of the drive. The second part, with an emphasis on ratio, will have scullers focus on hand speed and slide control to further improve the efficiency of the sculling stroke.
COST: $25 per session for members, $35 for non-members. Note, each day is a separate session.
HOW: For more information, to reserve equipment and/or sign up for this clinic, please email Jennifer Quilling , jqwerkes@..., or call her at 303.818.2851.

Weather Radar has improved...we're going to head up and give it the old college try on the motor -- will be there between 5:30 and 5:45.
We'll probably head to the Island Grill afterwards to celebrate (corner of Lemay and Drake).

Totally my bad. Carol and I took the double out yesterday morning and forgot to put them back in the boathouse because we got caught up moving the new launch motor from boathouse #1 to #2 and out of the way. Ann

You should tell your people that everyone must be onsite by 8am because the roads will be closed down at 8 for the triathlon. And they will be closed for up to 2 hours. Hopefully this won't be a problem.
