As you may know, Larimer County is in the process of defining long term parks plans for Larimer Parks. The process is well on it's way. The plan will include Horsetooth Reservoir. We have a narrow opportunity to positively impact the plan outcome for rowing.
One of the major ways we could impact the final plan is to voice our interests and needs at the "Public Comment" meetings scheduled this fall.
Please make a major effort to attend at least one of the upcoming meetings, and while there, talk with the representatives from the comission about our needs and about the positive impact rowing can bring to the community. Your personal story is a great place to start.
The scheduled meetings are:
Wednesday, September 13, 2006, 5-8 PM
Thompson Valley High School
1669 Eagle Drive
Loveland
Thursday, September 14, 2006, 5-8 PM
Lincoln Center
Canyon West Room
Fort Collins
What we need to do is illustrate there are a large number of people in the community already with a passion for rowing and for seeing rowing opportunities grow in Larimer County.
Some ideas for talking points:
- Rowing will be here long term. We have only been around for a bit over a year and are already seeing significant numbers and significant growth.
- We will have a broad, positive impact on the community through diverse programs including CSU rowing, Youth rowing, Special programs rowing, and adult rowing.
- We need a home. We need a facility with Boat storage, electricity, and running water (to accomodate special programs with possibly physically challenged participants)

I hope to see you at at least one of the meetings.
