Thanks for bringing that up.
We have a diverse group of rowers, goals, and schedules and perhaps for that
reason people are contacting each other by email and scheduling boats by
signing up on the dry erase board.
We invite you to chime in on the policy for boat use. Quick before the
RACING!!
Next racing is the Thin Air Head, in Boulder on Sept. 16th. Yes it is
time to race this fall.
Christine Milton is running that show and I her address is
christinemp@...
We also have racing in Des Moines Iowa on Sept 30 available, as BCR has
asked if we would like to join in on trailer space (and I assume some fuel
costs.) Those interested should go online to the Head of the Des Moine for
education, and respond with your interest. Its a nice town on a fall day,
with a beut of a river and an easy drive. What more? Find out yourself by
racing. I am pretty sure I will go! We'll see about our Junior Team.
And our own Horesetooth Ache is October 7th. Our Aching Committee is
working up the details.
The Junior Team has priority use of the club owned white 4+s in the
westernmost boat bay. Unless reserved by the Juniors they may be used in
the mornings. They need rigging before they will work, and I am working on
that for next week - mid week.
The two blue fours are CSU property and not for FCRA use.
The white 2x, 4x, the wooden 2x, the 2 Laser recreational singles, and
the blue and white recreational single may be used by every rower who boats
subject to experienced members approval that you and your crew have the
ability to safely handle the boat.
The wooden oars, and the oars with white blades should be used with the
rec singles and wood doubles.
The other boats should use sculling blades with green handles, taking
care that the collars on the oars are set at the same distance from the
handle. These blades may be quickly modified by use of the orange "clams" to
lighten the load.
None of the club boats can be "taken". As yet we have had no conflicts.
Thus, no policy!
I suggest a method that works temporarily is that boats may be reserved
for a 90 period, by signing up for that boat on the dry erase calendar no
more than 72 hours in advance. If the time slot behind a boat at launch is
empty, the boat may be out for 2 hours. A reservation is lost if the crew
does not show up within 15 minutes of reserved time. (Like a tee time,
right?).
If their is a working policy among rowers that I am unaware of , please
respond so that we can consider all the good options for equipment use and
come up with our first set of rules at our next bd meeting. That will be
held on the second tuesday of September, at 6pm, at Mulligans.
