Great job today!
4000 meters on great water, in good spirits. I had a blast!
Kling showed up after you and got the same amazing water, same distance. His only other experience was in my single and thusly, he rows more conservatively.
Seems like Sunday, and two other (Tuesday and Thursday?) mornings at 6 will wake you up right. I'm thinking about who you should meet to get some rows in right away. Time for a poll of master's women and who wants to pull in the AM.
As this message is being broadcast, let me use you as a means to communicate to our club about how spring access to boats is had.
Sandy is an excellent sweep rower, an excellent swimmer, and smart about motorboats, cold water, etc.
She is a few years away from boats. She had her first sculling row today in a double. Like a lot of eights rowers from fast universities, she has a "big" aggressive style.
As expected, we had good rythm, a good time, and a few crabs that I had fun with. They were potential "soakers". Her sculling bladework and balance will become consistent in a very few rows.
So, Sandy, in the colder water the quad is the boat for you, and a crowd is eager to launch.
You are cleared for that boat now, and for the doubles now with an experienced sculler. Open access to the doubles with lesser experienced rowers as soon as the bladework is more reliable or as the water warms. Obviously you are cleared for the sweep boats and we already have a handful of people with sweep skills ready to test the 4s when they arrive this week.
Oh, we got some great sculling technique video delivered this afternoon. Got to figure out how to pass it around ASAP.
We are headed to boulder on the 22nd for a low key sprints race and that might be a nice way to meet the Boulder and Denver rowers. Fun and racing is the agenda.
Lets get the big boats out.
Thanks!
Mark

Of course, this is all a few years ago!
