David,
If you are doing anything other than single-lap autocrosses with
5 minutes in between runs, and the weather is cone-melt hot,
the MG yellow compound might be a better choice. Certainly it
is a better tire for lapping, and works well on high-grip surfaces
in hot weather.
A number of us ran the YFA's a few years ago.... but it was not
the thing we eventually went to... I personally ran the Maxxis
tires for a set, and found the best adhesion part of their life to
be very short indeed. They lasted long enough, but they only
"worked" for a brief period.
Glad to see you coming to Toledo, Russell! 15 entrants in F125
is a really great turnout! The surface there is smooth concrete,
not seasoned enough to develop any real grip. I think it is only
maybe 6 years old. We love driving on it, because it is free of the
jolts found at some of the really grippy spots like Grissom, but
max lats are down a couple of tenths of a G.
As far as the courses..... who knows? There is plenty of space
available, but it has not always been used effectively in the past.

You know the whole World of SCCA Solo II F125 guys will be on MG Green's
with the exception of me and there was one other guy at Nationals (sorry i
don't
remember your name) both of us on Vega's. The reality is both are about
the same but I'm use to driving on the Vega's so thats what i will stick with.

I'm going to steal part of this tread with my own question about the Toledo
Pro. What is the surface like? How big is the course going to be/speed,
compared to say Nationals site? Did you guys run a pro on it last year?
Thanks Again , Russell B.

Looking to get new tires for my kart finally. And now I'm wondering
what to get.
Should I go with something universal like the MG green for good stick
and give up some life. Or maybe a Maxxis HT5 for an even softer
compound (but I can only find them in 6" wheel sizes)? Or maybe
Bridgestone YHA compound tires?
Also, whats the advantage or disadvantage for running 6" wheels over
the 5" ones I have now?
I wore through 2 sets of YHB Stones with maybe 25% life left on them.
I've never been known to be easy on tires, but I hope to learn :)
Also, I live in Texas where it's a wee bit hot now a days :)
Thanks for the help guys.
