The scales weren't originally available in Atlanta because the SCCA
scales weren't working. I believe we ended up borrowing Andy Hollis's
although I don't know if they made it out on Sat at all.

I believe all cars/karts are supposed to be weighed as they came off of
the course on their last run. Also, from the Jr Kart Program Guidelines
given out at the Nat convention...

E. Weight
Formula Junior drivers will be assessed a 0.1 second penalty for every
pound underweight through the 2005 season. In 2006, the penalty for
Formula Junior drivers who are under minimum weight will revert to the
standards set forth in the SIIRB for all vehicles that run with minimum
weight criteria.

Hope that helps,
Jeff Cashmore

If this had been a race, your son would have come off the track without the bar and yes I think your competitor was correct in asking that the bar be removed....

The current SCCA scales seem to be sensitive to generator on/off and to sun in/out. Also, make sure to preweigh you and the kart on the same scales as weight...
