Hooray, although this won't affect us too much (one more tournament to play in though), future teams from Illinois might be able to represent at Easterns, but it might be centrals in a couple years if what. Big step forward.

This is a very important announcement for certain teams. If you are interested in traveling...this is the Illinois championships. The winner represents Illinois at the Eastern High School tournament. Not every team can participate, but with so many teams it would be cool if someone represented Illinois.Carey
Grateful for your cooperation and support.

Youth Ultimate Coaches, Players and Sponsors,
I am writing on behalf of Sensei Ultimate Network, NpC, an organization dedicated to promoting the sport of Ultimate and developing a stronger Ultimate presence within the Midwest. As part of our 2007 effort we would like to offer an Illinois HS State Championship this spring (on, or around, Memorial Day weekend)!
The purpose of this email is two fold. First, to gauge interest in competing in this two day tournament and second, to ask for your help.
Specifically, we are looking for a team to act as the "host" school. What we need from the host school is for them to provide the field space for the tournament and the use of your schools facilities (showers, restrooms).
For acting as the host, your teams tournament fee will be waived and earn a portion of the tournament proceeds. We will handle all the other leg work and organization for the tournament. So on game day all you will need to do is play ultimate. This tournament will be an official UPA sanctioned event. As such, it will be covered by the UPA insurance policy.
Additionally, we are open to suggestions as to what you would expect from such a tournament (i.e. ultimate vendors, food, discs). While we have hosted college tournaments in the past, this will be our first venture in to youth ultimate and we don't want to disappoint.
Playing in a State Championship is a substantial prerequisite for Easterns and it is time Illinois had one. If we are unable to find a host school, we do our best to reserve field space through the forest reserve system (i.e. Schiller Park). There are no guarantees with that route, however, and it may limit what we can do with the tournament. Having a host school will go a long way towards making this tournament a reality.
If you are interested in participating or hosting, please contact us at youthultimate@.... I hope to hear from all of you very soon.
Peace, Love and Ultimate
Matthew Rotert
