Eugene Community,
About 2 months ago the South Eugene High School ultimate team made a
trek to Blaine, MN for the 2009 Western Championships. Led by Dylan
Freechild, Charlie Wilson-Moses, and Kelly Vigil, these boys fought
their way to the championship final. I finally finished the video,
which you can see at the following vimeo links. I should soon also
have a quicktime download available for ipod/iphone/etc, but for the
time being vimeo is the only place to see both parts. The video is 25
minutes in totality, so you may want to pop a bag of popcorn, sit
back, and enjoy the show.

Hello all,
I may have left a black back brace on the side of the field after City League on
Tuesday night. I was on the Century middle field. If anyone remembers seeing it
lemme know. thanks!

All-
Apologies for a non-ultimate post, but knowing the community, this seems
like a good place to let folks know that I am selling a 1985 VW
Westfalia. The Craigslist posting is:
http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/1270673833.html
<http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/1270673833.html> . If you are
interested, let me know. My family has had a great time over the last
several years, but we just don't use the van as much as we'd hoped and
it seems silly to have it mostly idle when someone else could be going
on adventures.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hey Darcy,
I don't know who's in charge in Eugene, but can you please give them my e-mail
address for the Portland area?? I'm interested in the tournament that they are
interested in inviting youth teams to...
Thanks, Darcy.

My sister lost her Solstice 2008 disc last fall in C-League. It says "Neah K."
on the back. It was the game disc for Hegemonic Discourse, and she never got it
back. I told her I'd check here and see if anyone has it. If you found it,
please reply to this email or call at 895-8918.
Thanks a bunch :)
Carly
Hey all --
Just a reminder, we'd love to see you out tonight for the Solstice recap, 7 p.m.
at North Bank -- the beer and pop are on us, you bring the tournament feedback!
thanks,
Matt

hey all!
Solstice and the Eugene Ultimate Group want to say THANKS MUCH for all your help
pulling off the annual tourney -- so the beer and pop are on us!
When and where: Monday, 7 p.m., at the North Bank McMenamin's, 22 Club Road,
Eugene
We'll go over this year's tourney and gather ideas for 2010. We want to hear
from you on what worked and what didn't -- so come on out, kick back and speak
up!

Here exciting tales of tournament housing from Ryan "Spreadsheet" Scott. Join

restaurant and out to the Ferry Street Bridge.
Hope to seeya there!

If any females in the area are interested, my friend's team in Washington
(Stella!) need pickups for Potlatch (Seattle). Having fun is definitely
their #1 priority. They are also pirates, which is cool. If interested in
picking up with them, please reply directly to Mike Sebring at:

There is pickup at 6:00 tomorrow (Thursday) at Roosevelt Middle School
(Amazon Park) at the corner of 24th and Patterson (between Hilyard and
Amazon Parkway).

hello, ultimateers! this is sean p and i'm coordinating the
recycling/composting effort for solstice this weekend. currently i have no help
for this substantial task. it's several hours of work for one person but would
be easy for folks to plug into and make the work lighter. can you help me
sometime this weekend?
it's going to involve setting out recycling and composting bins at several
locations at the two field locations in the mornings before games (early risers?
i'll probably get going around 6) and taking them down in the evenings
immediately after games. maybe you can stick around your field location and
help a brother out for a little while? this needs doing both days.
if you can help me out for a little while before or after games, at the field
sites, please email or call! 345.9815. thanks!

Hello --
Please stop by Ascot Park at 9 a.m. Friday/or and Roosevelt at 1 p.m. Friday and
help line fields. They're marked and ready to go; just need six people per site
to make things move quickly for all.
thanks,
Matt 870 6356
Right now, how many discs are hanging idly on your wall? How many are sitting
unseen in your closet? 2, 6, 15, 30? We all have them: over the years I managed
to collect 26. Two years ago I transformed one of them into a clock.. It now
serves as the centerpiece of the discs on my wall and I absolutely love it. I
always thought that it would be fun to make these available at tournaments, and
now is finally the time!
Introducing the first ever Ultimate Clocks:
I have purchased bulk shipments of the necessary parts and will be making
Ultimate Clocks available this weekend at Solstice.
You can find me on Saturday under the blue tent next to Frisbee Central. Drop
off that disc from your closet or wall that is special to you, or your newly
purchased Solstice disc, to have it transformed into your new, functional,
time-keeping wall piece. Because building the clocks takes some time, orders can
be taken on SATURDAY ONLY. Your new Ultimate Clock will be ready for pickup by
Sunday morning.
Specialty 10" clocks on amazon.com and in stores range from $20-$50 - I will be
able to offer these for $16. From a financial perspective, your Ultimate Clock
is a sound investment!
You can view the Solstice Clock at
http://www.darkstarultimate.org/Solstice2009/Merchandise.html, and for another
example, attached is a photo of the Bangkok Clock hanging on my wall.
Now, walk over to the discs on your wall, or the discs in your closet, choose
your favorite one, and put it in your bag for this weekend.
See you on Saturday!
Sincerely,
Danny Kalman

I don't know if any other Eugenites are headed to Log Jam instead of staying
in town for Solstice, but I'm interested in carpooling if you're out there.
I'm picking up the sweetie from work Friday early eve and driving up. Let me
know.

Hey all, game on!
Solstice is Saturday and Sunday -- time to get a team together! Kidding!!
Time to talk Volunteer Action!
1. HUGE thanks to the following, who came out Sunday for up to seven hours and
did the heavy lifting on getting fields marked:
Larry Wikander
Jon W
Darcy, Ryan and Jackson
Jay MacPherson
Joe and Kyle Millon
Annie and Dozer
2. Some of you have responded you'll help line fields. Please do so again. We
need to do this Thursdayish and Friday, basically any time of the day. We need
teams of three -- two running string and one pushing the paint-lining cart. All
you have to do is find the marks these fine folks put down for you. It's crazy
easy. Take a walk. Get a tan. Nice.
2a. We also need massively powerful people to lift and relocate soccer goals
Friday.
3. Field Food Czar -- I need somebody to step up asap to do field food. I've got
the shopping list. You'll need a truck and maybe somebody riding shotgun. You'll
hit costco during the week, then fruit and bagels bright and early Saturday,
delivering everything to Ascot/Monroe by 7, then off to Roosevelt. Or something
like that.
4. Roosevelt Field Coordinator -- Big job, gotta have it. Somebody to chill at
the Roosevelt shelter all weekend, recording scores, selling merch, eating
bagels and heckling the Cream Sicles. Bum hammy? Time to elevate it.
5. Runner -- I need somebody not playing, who wants to hang out at the tourney
all weekend but can be called on at a moment's notice to drive to either site
and restock with ice and other stuff. Plus I might need a latte.
6. Eugene teams -- You'll be happy to know, I've pulled some strings and found
you all an Exciting, Hands-on Opportunity to Participate in the Creation and
Dismantling of a Eugene Phenomenon! In other words, local team captains will be
asked to help with setup and breakdown at both sites on both days.
7. Volunteers, general call -- There are various duties and details I can't
remember right now due to my advanced age, but it'll come to me. Please let me
know you'd be happy to help.
thanks much,
Matt
Greetings good people! Five days until Solstice, and we are hoping to
add homes to our list to house solstice teams. We are expecting a
last minute rush, but we don't have the space to accommodate. After
providing for 28 folks, we only have six more spaces going into our
time of greatest demand.
Do you have any room?
Please help do your part to offer a warm welcome to our fellow
Ultimate players. We have less than 25 days to find housing for
dozens of players. Thanks in advance for stepping up and helping out!
The Solstice Housing spreadsheet can be found here
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=rpsH0LQQbLy-gqFpPMyX_RA
For housing providers: Please go to the Solstice Housing spreadsheet,
and enter your information in a blank row. Thank you for helping
support the Solstice tournament!
For couch surfers: Please go to the Solstice Housing speadsheet, and
match yourself to available housing. If nothing is available that
meets what you need, place your name in a blank row.
Solstice prides itself in putting a roof over Ulti players for the
tourney. We make a special effort to provide housing for everyone who
needs it. It might be a floor, a couch, or a bed, but you will have a
warm welcome to Eugene.
Thanks! Ryan
