Happy New Year, y'all!
So guess which absolutely rippin' Ultimate tournament turns 30* this year? Yep,
Eugene Summer Solstice, June 20-21 here in verdant Eugene, Oregon. Lots coming
in the months ahead, but here's a big one to chew on right now:
Think about stepping up to be tournament director in training.
I'd love to work closely with somebody on all aspects of this year's tournament,
with the goal of turning the reins over next year. You can get your feet wet,
step behind the curtain to see the well-oiled machinery that makes Solstice tick
and hang out with extremely interesting and unquestionably cool people. All
without having to call the shots or take the heat when everything implodes.
Kidding! No implosions, promise.
Solstice is a big job, but there is a vast and reliable army of volunteers --
that's you! -- waiting to help out. Here's a growth opportunity and a chance to
interact with good friends and perfect strangers, all of whom share your love of
flatball. Why not give a little back to the sport and the community that have
given you so much?
Fired up for Solstice and mentally going ho at this very instant,
Matt Cooper, tournament director
* Didn't Solstice turn 30 last year? Nope, that was 30 tournaments, not the 30th
anniversary. Suh-weet.
