For those of you who need daily reminders (jeez, get a calendar)...
We are excited to announce a new event to our local Ultimate line-
up. Below is some info on a local HAT TOURNEY scheduled for
Saturday Oct 18th. Goal of the Tourney is to have some fun, meet
and play with other locals and hopefully raise a little dough for
area youth ultimate.
Please help spread the word by forwarding this note or attachment
to your city league teams, local high school students, college kids
or your best friends sister babysitters' cousin.
WHAT: Inaugural Eugene Ultimate Group HAT TOURNEY.
WHEN: Saturday October 18, 2008. 9 a.m. until 5:00 pm (ish)
WHO: YOU and anyone else in the area who wants to play, kids (14
and up please), city league players, club, beginners etc.
WHERE: Century Fields; the PLUSH fields behind Roosevelt Middle
School.
WHY: Fun event aimed at building community as well as meeting and
playing with new folks.
REGISTRATION: Day-of starting @ 8:00 a.m.
FORMAT: Format will depend somewhat on how many sign up, but we are
looking at having up to 7 teams with 12-15 folks per team. Games
will be to time and we will attempt to have each team play each
other. Teams will be selected randomly, but with some sort of
graded scale for each player, IE beginner, city league player, club
player.
COST: $10 per person. All cost above and beyond expenses will go
toward a fund that the Eugene Ultimate Group is developing to help
provide some fiscal support to area high school teams and youth
teams. Please feel free to donate more than the $10 if you have the
means and desire to do so. The kids will love you forever. (If you
are a part of a youth team and would like some more info on this
fund, please contact me or any of the other members of the EUG
planning group - Matt Cooper, Ryann Crowley, Nina Herbst, Joe
Millon and Shannon Kilduff).
AFTERWARDS FUN: We are working on putting together a no-host event
at a local establishment for folks to gather, quaff a few and have
some grub. The plan is to reserve a room/space and then have
ultimate folks throw to, er, I mean fill that space. We'll provide
some details on this as we figure it out. We'll try to make it an
all ages thing. Stay tuned.
Special Note: The event will be subject to weather related last
minute cancelation. Due to the fact that these are our city league
fields, and we want to keep it that way, city staff will reserve
the right to pull the plug at the last minute if there are any
field condition concerns. Sorry, just the way it has to be.
Questions/Comments/Suggestion? Please feel free to send them along.
Hope to see you there,
Jared
