I'm obviously not in charge of this, but my two cents is that the ability
for people to sign up freely outways the cost of having to remove a
spammer. when it happens on my other yahoo groups, I just remove them and
send out a posting to the listserv letting people know that the offending
spammer was removed. I don't usually mention the listserv to people, so I
was impressed by two of seven folks on the line had trouble joining the
group. Makes me wonder how many other people are out there trying to join?
