hey all,
I would like to bring up a thought, and to put out a request. I played
some pick up at Roosevelt two weekends ago, and the fields where pretty bad
then. I have talked to somebody who played this past weekend, and she said
that the fields are really getting torn up.
I really think it is in the best interest of the WHOLE ultimate community
here in Eugene if we give the Roosevelt fields a rest for a while. I am not
trying to get on a soapbox and boss folks around. I just know form years of
experience of dealing with the 4J and city folks who control the playing
fields that continuing to play on muddy fields will come back to hurt all
of us. 4J and the city will not be willing to rent us fields for
tournaments, practice, city league, or whatever if we prove that we can't
take care of them. The worst case scenerios would be 4J closing fields all
winter like the city does, or even putting up signs saying "no ultimate,
please". Its a reputation we do not want to get.
Some alternatives to playing at Roosevelt might be Tugman, poaching any of
the turf fields, some unkown dry field out there, or maybe just waiting to
till things dry up a little bit. The way this "winter" is going, that may
not be too long. Shifting the fields around at Roosevelt will only destroy
more of the turf.
Please fell free to get back to me if you wish

thanks for your time.

ps, on a completely different note, is anybody out there interested in
getting a Eugene ultimate website going? I know there was talk in the past.
We could use the existing darkstar site. Let me know.
