Earls Woods was a Vietnam Vet.

I suspect his chemical of harm was 2-butoxyethanol, although that would not be recognized by our Nation.

food supplements, glyconutrients, are being found to be very helpful

"Earls Woods first was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1998, but the cancer returned in 2004 and spread to other parts of his body. He has not seen his son play since Woods won his Target World Challenge in December 2004 at Sherwood Country Club."

This chemical does not spread to other parts of the body as much as it targets multiple organs and body systems at the same time

Old father shrine

Earl Woods still lives in the California house his son grew up in, convinced that it will one day become a national monument to Tiger's golfing talent. He granted OSM a rare tour, and opened up about role models, racism, Vietnam - and why he's anything but the archetypal pushy parent

The front door is the giveaway. It's as wide as a car and handcrafted from Mexican walnut and it has a rich brown, luxurious grain you won't find when you're pushing a trolley around the local DIY superstore on a Sunday afternoon. Look up and down this street, at the graffiti on the communal walls and the 1994 Toyotas parked along the curb, and then look back to this $5,000 door and you think; there's something weird about this house. And then the gorgeous door swings open to reveal the childhood home of Tiger Woods.

Think Graceland, compressed into your grandparents' tiny front room. Instead of moulded plastic furniture and pearl-handled pistols there are Titleist putters and glass-fronted display cabinets. Instead of shag pile there is cool, granite slabbing. Instead of a stoned Elvis pictured shaking hands with a sweaty Richard Nixon, there are framed magazine covers (hundreds of the them), oil paintings (of Tiger, of the 12th hole at Augusta Golf Club) and an airbrushed photograph of the Duchess of York signed, 'To Earl and Tida, best wishes Sarah.' There are trophies fighting for space; Mickey and Donald in bronze (The National Car Rental Disney Classic 1999), cut crystal vases galore (Father of the Year 1997, to name but one), the familiar, pelican-nosed jug only seen in public around British coastal towns in July (The Open Championship trophy). If you're a devotee of Phillipe Starck, it's the kind of room that would have you reaching for the wrecking ball. If you love sport, and golf in particular, it's difficult to resist the schoolboyish notion that being here makes this one of the most exciting days of your life.

Earl Woods sits slumped in a red leather recliner amidst his memorabilia, unshaven, smoking, dressed in a shapeless blue tracksuit.

ESPN, America's 24-hour television sports news station, is playing with the sound off. Earl looks bored, he sounds bored, but I convince myself he is neither. Like many men of his generation who have experienced war, this is how he is; measured, deliberate, cool - as if nothing in civilian life is worth getting too exited about.

Nice pad, Mr Woods.

'Yes indeed,' he sighs, stubbing out his cigarette in the empty soup bowl by the side of his chair. 'I have prepared this house so that it can be converted into a national historical monument one day. All the floors in here are granite, they are not hardwood or any of that other stuff. Granite - the hardest stone. All of the wood you see is walnut. It is built to last - because I am certain that one day the birthplace of Tiger Woods is going to become widely acknowledged.' In stark contrast to his famous (and famously guarded) son, Earl Woods has made a career out of such outlandish assertions, so much so that one begins to wonder why anyone wastes their breath interviewing Woods Jnr.

After all, who - apart from the MTV host recently granted a rare audience - wants to know that the first thing the most famous sportsman in the world does when he gets up in the morning is brush his teeth, that the last concert he went to was Janet Jackson, that his most disgusting habit is belching and his favourite band is U2? This isn't to say that Tiger Woods is dull or frivolous or inarticulate. I have friends who have played golf with him, friends of friends who have partied with him and I have sat through enough of his press conferences; he is none of those things.

No. The problem with Tiger - the public Tiger - is he is a corporate brochure made flesh. Flick, glassy-eyed, through the pages and you can't fail to be impressed by global business strategy, but in the end you have to stop reading otherwise you might fall asleep standing up. Yes, yes, very impressive, you say to yourself, but that's enough bullshit for now. What's the real story?

Thank God, then, for the man he calls 'Pops', who - to take a random sample from the Earl Woods quote book - once said of Scotland, birthplace of the great game: 'That place sucks. It's for white people. People had better be glad that the Scots lived there instead of the soul brothers or golf would never have been invented. We wouldn't have been stupid enough to go out in that weather and play a silly-ass game and freeze to death. We would have stayed inside, listening to jazz, laughing and joking and drinking rum.'

There's more; like his designation of Tiger as 'the chosen one', the speech during which he supposedly compared his son to Gandhi (although his son would have a greater impact on the world) and the meeting with Nelson Mandela which he described as the first time Tiger had met someone as important as himself.

Earl Woods, it is clear, does not care whom he offends, or that many journalists take his hyperbolic soundbites and spin them into a portrait (subliminally racist, in some cases) of an unhinged, uppity braggard. Who can deny him his insouciance? He has just turned 70; in recent years he has suffered both diabetes and heart problems; in Vietnam, where he served two tours and reached the rank of lieutenant-colonel, he was almost killed 'more times than I care to remember'. He is secure; emotionally, financially, spiritually, intellectually. Ask me another, his calm presence demands; anything you like, you can't hurt me, can't knock me off my stride.

All of which is good news for me, because something has been bugging me ever since Tiger Woods won the 1997 Masters and his father proclaimed him as the next Messiah: where did it all go wrong, Mr Woods? He gives me a look somewhere between a smile and a diagnosis of insanity and asks what on earth I'm talking about. I present my case - that Tiger Woods will go down in history as a great golfer but unlike, say, Muhammad Ali or Arthur Ashe he will never be considered a truly great sportsman because, unlike Ali and Ashe, he has consistently refused to use his influence and power to shape the society he lives in. I give him an example: in May 2000 the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People called on black athletes to boycott events in South Carolina over the state's refusal to stop flying the the Confederate flag over its capitol building; a reprehensible provocation in this day and age, surely? Serena Williams certainly thought so, as did the New York Knicks basketball team and many other black athletes. Asked if he would support the NAACP boycott, Tiger Woods replied... 'I'm a golfer. That's their deal, not mine.'

'Quite right too,' Woods Snr says. 'I respect his right not to take up every cause. The media wants poor little Tiger to be a spokesman about everything. There are lots of athletes in the world who have not been spokesmen. Look at your soccer players - they aren't very articulate and open about the injustices in your country.'

But David Beckham's dad never said his son would be bigger than Gandhi, did he?

'Tiger is still living his life and he does not want race to be an issue in his life,' he says, which isn't strictly true. When Tiger signed his first contract with Nike (for $40m) he was more than happy to read from a script that tackled a race 'issue' - denying blacks access to golf course - in the commercial cause of selling golf shoes.

Earl Woods gives me a look, like the one he probably used on well-meaning but dim military subordinates. 'I'll tell you what I think,' he says. 'One guy summed it all up, Rodney King, the guy who was beaten up by the LA police. "Why can't we all just get along?" he said. That's the most beautiful thing I have ever heard in my life. Why can't we all just get along?'

Because Tiger Woods gets death threats from the KKK, because 19th-hole big-mouths like Fuzzy Zoeller go on national television and make racist jokes about him? (Asked about Woods's victory at the 1997 Masters and the traditional victory dinner - at which the new champion gets to choose the menu - Zoeller remarked: "That little boy is driving well and putting well. You pat him on the back and say congratulations and tell him not serve fried chicken, or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve.")

'Fuzzy is a big jokester,' says Earl. 'He is not a racist. I have heard him say a lot worse on the golf course...'

All humour is personal, of course, but Fuzzy Zoeller? Funny? Muhammad Ali, to whom Earl Woods likes to (favourably) compare his son, wouldn't have stood for it. He would have punched Zoeller's lights out, figuratively, if not literally.

'Ali was a different person. He also did not attend Stanford University. Ali had his techniques, Tiger has his; intellect, being articulate, understanding, sympathy. Tiger doesn't have to be out there screaming and hollering at people. I'm not being disparaging about Ali - I like the guy, I respect the hell out of him.'

Doesn't sound like it. What about his bravery, his dignity, his willingness to sacrifice his career for a greater cause?

'I understood where Ali was coming from. Don't forget I suffered from racism too.'

Earl Woods didn't take up golf as a child. There was only one golf course in his home town of Manhattan, Kansas, and it didn't allow blacks to play. Such were the every day indignities suffered by African-Americans born in the 1930s. He wouldn't have gone to college either but for his brilliance as a baseball player, which won him a scholarship to Kansas State University. His father, by then deceased, had always wanted him to play in the Negro leagues (blacks weren't allowed in the major leagues back then) for the Kansas City Monarchs.

Earl chose education instead and the college baseball squad, where he was the only black man in the entire college league. He describes the experience as humiliating. 'My teammates treated me all right, it wasn't their fault, but I wasn't afforded the same privileges as they were. For instance, I could not stay in the same hotels. We would go to the University of Oklahoma and the team stayed in Norman, where the university is, and I had to stay in Oklahoma City, an entirely different town. I had to get in a car in my uniform after the game and drive to Oklahoma City. There were no hotels that would take blacks in Norman, Oklahoma.'

He graduated in 1953 with a sociology degree, a qualification which afforded him no escape from segregation. His prospects were limited to a low-paid job in the civil service or a low-paid job in military. He chose the latter. 'The theory was that the army was integrated.' He pauses to savour this historical fantasy. '...Just like our society was integrated.'

His first posting was in Columbus, Georgia. 'I was an officer and I had a company clerk who was a private and he was white and he lived in Georgia, like I did, just off base, and he'd salute me - yes, sir, no sir - all day long but when we went home he rode in the front part of the bus and I rode at the back. There was another incident I'll never forget. Four of us were walking down the street, two black, two white, just window shopping, enjoying ourselves and all of a sudden the police came up and threw us against the wall, handcuffed us, put us in the wagon and drove us to the jail. We were fined for disturbing the peace - $32 and five cents. Blacks and whites weren't supposed to mix in public, that was our crime.'

Earl Woods was in his late twenties when the Civil Rights movement, inspired by Rosa Parks and led by Martin Luther King, began to gather momentum. I ask him if he was ever active in the anti-segregation movement. 'No. I came very close to going to one of the marches in Washington but I was stationed in North Carolina and I couldn't get away,' he says, and I think to myself how dare anyone make any judgments about the life and motivations of the young Earl Woods, especially from a distance of 40-plus years but, even so, it's difficult not to hear echoes of Tiger Woods in his father's answer.

At least in Vietnam, where Earl Woods did two tours with Green Berets and was decorated for bravery, black and white were equal in one way; they all had a very good chance of being killed. Somehow, he survived. He met Tiger's mother, Tida, in Thailand, where he was the officer in charge of running the army's recreational services; bowling alleys, cinemas and so on. He was looking to hire some local labourers, she was the secretary at the office. The rest is history - as was his first marriage, to Barbara, from which he has three children, two sons and a daughter, all now in their forties. He struggles to remember where exactly all live and work, so it is with some trepidation that I ask what kind of relationship he has with them these days.

'Pretty good. I don't see them that often. I telephone. I talk to them maybe once a month. My only regret is that I was in the military service and because of my commitments I wasn't able to spend as much time with them as I should have done when they were growing up.'

These days Earl and Tida no longer live together, though they remain married and talk most days. His contact with Tiger is more irregular - 'I've not spoken to him for a few weeks. We have the kind of relationship which doesn't need validation every day' - though whispers that the two have become estranged aren't so much false as insulting. Whatever failings Earl Woods admits to in raising his first three children, he clearly sought to correct them in bringing up his fourth. Successfully, it seems. Read the Tiger profiles, read his interviews, his books; it doesn't take a family psychologist to work out the two are extremely close.

It's also clear the relationship owes much to their shared obsession with golf when Tiger was growing up. Which brings us to that another charge levelled against Woods Snr: that he was the domineering father who set out to mould his kid into a champion with the purpose of enriching himself. (American sport is littered with such alleged villains. It so happens that a disproportionate number of them are black - Richard Williams, father of Serena and Venus is another target - which is an argument for another day. In the case of Woods Snr it's a doubly unfair slur. If he was so consumed with the trapping of wealth, why on earth would he still be living in the same suburban bungalow that Tiger grew up in?)

'The idea of me as a controlling father is 180 degrees from the truth,' he says. 'It was never a question of me forcing Tiger to play golf. Everything came from him. We transcended the father-son thing when he was five. We became best friends, equals. The normal way of things is that the father is always in command. That wasn't the case with us because when we went to a golf tournament I would be the father until we signed in, then Tiger took over as the father and I was the son. He would tell me what time we had to get there, when his tee-time was; he learnt to compute travel time and warm-up time and practice time. After the tournament was finished he would always practise. He would tell me when it was time to go home, and then as we were checking out of the hotel or going to the airport, our roles were reversed back again. I became the father again.

'I tried to interest him in other sports. I introduced him to baseball - he was a natural switch hitter - and he said no thanks, it interferes with my golf. So then I tried to get him interested in football and when he went to high school I convinced him to try out for the cross-country team. Within two weeks he was the number two man on the team. He quit after a year because it interfered with his golf. Everything I did was negated. He chose golf on his own. I never pushed him.'

He has a library of anecdotes from Tiger's formative years, most of them, like a good golf swing, grooved to near narrative perfection by years of repetition. I ask him for his favourite and he tells me a story about trying to wangle Tiger playing privileges at a local golf club. 'I said to the pro if Tiger could beat him over nine holes could he play on the course? He said yeh. And then I said I'll bet you a dollar a hole and he said, well, okay and I said you gotta let my son have a stroke a hole and let him play from the ladies' tees and he said that'll be fine.

'He said no kid is going to beat me, and then Tiger went out there and beat him by two, three strokes, I forget which it was.' I ask him how old Tiger was when this happened, expecting an outlandish answer but not as outlandish as the one I got. 'Four,' he chuckles, then adds, superfluously; 'Tiger was a very special four-year-old.'

If Earl Woods' living room is Graceland in miniature, then the two-car garage adjacent to his house is probably The Cavern. This is where genius gave its first performance. It's here that Tiger Woods sat in his high chair, aged six months, watching his father hitting golf balls into a practice net hung from the ceiling. It's here, aged 10 months, that he was unstrapped from the chair by his father and he picked up his tiny putter, teed up a ball and smacked it, left-handed, into the net.

It's here, two weeks later, he figured out that a left-handed grip wasn't for him, turned round and started hitting right-handed. 'Do you want to see the garage?' Woods Snr whispers, lifting himself out his chair for the first time since I arrived. He pads across the granite floor and throws open the connecting door.

Well, it's like the garage of any suburban American, with its bare wiring, domestic appliances and menagerie of abandoned sporting enthusiasms. The golf net is still hanging from the ceiling, awaiting the arrival of the men from the Smithsonian. We stand around chatting while the photographer does his business until, suddenly, Earl Woods turns round and faces the golf net, narrows his eyes and takes a couple of practice swings. I imagine him playing his second shot to the 18th at Augusta, one stroke ahead of the field with one hole to play, and in that moment the real story on Tiger Woods becomes clear. It's right in front of me, in our host's unbreakable self-belief, his military mind, his small-c conservatism and his beautiful, rhythmic, 70-year-old golf swing. The real story on Tiger Woods? He is just his father's son.

Earl on...

Tiger's love life
'He had one girlfriend in school and one in college. I didn't think the one at school) was a bad idea. What I thought was a bad idea was what her family had in mind. They had determined that Tiger was going to make a lot of money. They were meaning to make the relationship a permanent relationship. I could see this, but Tiger couldn't. As a parent I could do one of two things; I could forbid him to see her, or I could counsel him and then wait for him to grow and determine what was right for himself. I chose the latter. And that's what happened to that relationship.'

Tiger's rebellious youth; the sex, the drugs, the rock'n'roll
'He never rebelled once. I never smacked him or chastised him or punished him. He was the closest thing to a perfect child you will ever run into.'

His psychic communication with Tiger
'I can't explain how it works but here's a case in point. When he won the 1999 US PGA Championship, when he and Sergio Garcia were in a tight fight Tiger was hanging on. I think it was the 17th hole, where he had a putt he had to make. I told him, "Tiger this is a must-make putt, trust your stroke", and he nailed it. That evening we had a victory party for him at the hotel. There was about 40 people yak-yakking and then Tiger arrived and he looked over at me and he said, "Hey Pops, I heard you".'

The Masters
'It's my favourite tournament and it's Tiger's too. I used to love to wait for the Masters to come on TV. It was so beautiful. When he was growing up we used to sit and watch every minute and we would video it and study it later. He learnt all the holes they showed on TV. They treat us so well at Augusta. It's no longer the way it was, and that's progress for you.'

His first drink with Tiger
'He didn't drink before he went to Stanford, but this time he came home for Thanksgiving and I was lying on my bed having a drink and he says "What are you drinking Pop?" and I said a Pepsi and he said, "Give me that." He went and fixed me a drink in the kitchen - a Jack Daniels and ginger - and then he comes back in the room and says "Come on Pop, let's have our first drink together". We walked down to the little park down the street and we sat down and reminisced about his school, what he was doing and how wonderful it was to sit there and have our first drink together. That's the one Jack Daniels and ginger I will always remember.'

Playing golf with Tiger
'It's a war, but it is also an exquisite pleasure. The last time we played together was two Christmases ago, at Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach. The thing I remember most about the day is that Tiger made a hole in one and then I almost put one right on top of it and the only thing he said was "good shot". I didn't even get a free drink because he was in a hurry. All he did was authorise the bartender to give everyone in the clubhouse a free drink and then we left.'

Tiger's challengers
'I don't see anything that great, not yet. Garcia? How long has he been out - three years? And have you seen him beat Tiger consistently? Like I say, most of these guys have got talent and they've got no fear. But let's see results, and I don't mean the money list. I mean they have to beat Tiger on a consistent basis.'

Today and back to WWII days and every war period in between, has exposed our soldiers, and everyone else to a chemical that someday I hope is banned:  2-butoxyethanol .

Sometimes they spray the troops as they 'decontaminate' equipment (using a lesser variation of this harmful chemical) such as Conny Montgomery found out  .  It's in gun cleaners, rocket propulsion, jet fuel ...or I do suspect so ... in TOO many things.  Housewives should be careful too.  Do not use some of the cleaning products that are out there.  Do not let the fumes get in your eyes, or in baby's eyes, or in the eyes of your pets

Many prominent people including Pres FDR exhibit the pattern of 2-butoxyethanol exposure  sufficient to be the root cause of their death

Today Staff Sgt James Alford has slipped into a vegetable state  (if he's still alive) & his family blames 'mad cow disease'  They should be looking in the direction of this chemical ... and I have told them so : (twice)

I recognize the pattern of this chemical's harm ... & someday we will have to quit blaming something else for what it does.  Think outside the box ... look in this direction .... and the Vietnam vets  & the gulf war vets  ... and the Korean vets ... and the WWII vets, and today's vets ... may find the answer to their health questions.  Birth defects too, especially autoimmune metabolic issues:  Autism, Leukodystrophies ... diabetes ... neuroblastomas ... hemangiomas ... MANY THINGS

Remember a significant FLU  ?

That could just as easily have been this chemical's poisoning

Hear about the 3 soldiers who died last year After FLU-like symptoms ?

You know what I suspect.

I write these web pages ... they're nothing special, but they share what I've learned about this chemical.

and I know those who are TIRED of being TIRED ... with the CFS, FM, CFIDS pattern of symptoms ... won't find the fatigue with the blood tests that will be done, even though there is something for anemia (in the extreme cases, maybe, but not for most people)

... for Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome doctors say they do not know what the fatigue is.  I believe I've stumbled onto what the fatigue isautoimmune hemolytic anemia, but doctors are not alerted by the regular blood tests to check for it.  I think they have to look at the same info just a little differently, and LOOK at the red blood cells:  size, shape, membranes, age?  and is there blood in urine?  (or later, is there an abnormal peripheral blood test?)

The chemical I suspect for THIS fatigue can cause birth defects:  the teratogen chemical, 2-butoxyethanol.  If it is a birth defect, then you would not necessarily have the fatigue yourself, but most likely the mom would, or her parents.

I shared this with our city this week ... & hope that you will share it with any doctors interested.  There are workers, US Coast Guard, & US Navy stationed in Valdez in 1989  who could prove the harm of this chemical.  Along with the 'bioremediation' workers & those who were on the Corexit trials.  It is also the only chemical exposure that these have in common with the 'gulf war syndrome' vets (after oil)

This chemical and complex versions of it is easy to be exposed to, even today, It is prevalent in many household cleaning products, paint, & solvents that carpenters & mechanics use. AVOID this chemical, especially if you have already been exposed to it.

A synonymn for what 2-butoxyethanol does is hemoglobinuria ... and that indicates harm to X-chromosome possible, or part of the picture.  I suspect it is the root cause of harm for many autoimmune metabolic issues:  diabetes, Autism, leukodystrophies, etc, etc

If you are concerned about this, ask your doctor about focusing on good nutrition and glyconutrient food supplements  More info  Those who specialize in chemical exposures will tell you that adding other chemicals to your chemical 'load' can be very detrimental.  So, be sure even the medications you are offered are proven, and not just to help you cope.  You are dealing with an autoimmune immune system with this chemical ... at least from the study I've done, that appears to be the root problem:  your immune system is attacking you.

And remember, God is in the healing business ... so find a church who prays ... and ask them to pray for you.

My wife, Linda, runs a nursing home in O'Fallon, Illinois and has been referring with her Registered Dietician and her personal physician here in Waterloo.

Both professionals are "sold" on nutritional and herbal supplements as well as healthy diet for the reversal of several maladies. Linda had had symptoms of diabetes, whereupon her physician had sternly recommended the Atkins Diet. By this we mean the original one, no processed meats or other foods, colored vegetables, no refined sugars or wheat, etc. Cheeses, eggs, and mayo in limited amounts, etc. Herbs and very-high vitamin supplements galore.

In short, Linda reversed the symptoms completely as evidenced by 2 very complete blood tests over the past year. So, we've really embraced the healthfood lifestyle.

There's one another supplement, which is temporary, by the way, that her personal physician is recommending which is glyconutrients.

I confess at first that the stuff sounded like snakeoil. The claims for it were sounding too good to be true. But Linda pressed her doctor AND her registered dietician and they both swear by it, pointing out that the AMA is starting to slowly recognize that the stuff does have merit.

The glyconutrients have reportedly been found to have the ability for the bodies cells to rebuild at a remarkable rate. Degenerative diseases such as cancer and diabetes have been vanquished and certain other maladies are falling before this treatment.

A video on the test results of this stuff looked as if true science had been followed regarding it, so I'm putting some skepticism aside. Not completely, but we're both considering it.

I'm mentioning glyconutritients to you Marge because perhaps, just perhaps these supplements might produce a chance that this afflicted man may enjoy some reversal of cellular damage with the above. I do NOT know if it can, but it's interesting to study.

It's not considered a cure at all. But rather a restoration of certain natural nutrients that the body should have in a regular diet so that it can heal itself.

I'm considering it for Linda. I'm still partially skeptical, so I'm searching the Internet and asking other healthcare professionals. By the way, nursing homes are using low-powered versions of this products and are reporting good results in the improvement of the residents. This is coming from the N.H. administrators, not salespeople.

I hope the above can be of help for folks that you meet. Please understand that I am not recommending the stuff until I know more, but I want anyone who's sufferng like the man you wrote of to have any chance of recovery, however remote.

Please have a good Sunday
Yes, I am hearing from several sources about the benefits of glyconutrients. And several doctors willing to do trials or doing tirals. I told her such yesterday... & suggested she click on the doctors' links mid page & look at page bottom of http://www.valdezlink.com/pages/diabetesDiabetes.htm#hope

When I first saw the claims for glyconutrients about a year ago I dismissed it as "too good to be true"

I personally think that the glyconutrients alone would produce these good results. Not that a good diet & good nutritian isn't important. It is. But the Atkins Diet isn't all that great except the leaving off the white processed foods/sugar part.

I now suspect the Type 2 diabetes that I have is a birth defect from dad who must have been exposed in his WWII service. I believe that with no changes in diet, and use of the glyconutrients & minimal medications of any kind ... and this can be reversed & other ailments not show up (like brain tumors or other tumors here 'n there)

Quote:
Mike ...continues....
I am no expert on gluconutrients - our one viewpoint on it from personal experience is what is seen at O'Fallon Healthcare and it IS very positive. The residents respond quite well from using it.
The only thing is that if one has been on the Atkins diet to control diabetes, then the diet must be amended to compensate for those gluconutrients which are sugars.

The only thing is that it is way expensive at the moment. Some folks are selling it at $500 per one month supply, but I'm pretty sure that I saw some on the Web for 1/2 that price which is better, but still..... hmm.

Who knows, maybe in a year we'll start seeing it at Walgreens at reduced prices just like we see Rogaine at Walmart at 1/3 its original price.
Well, Dr REG said he would supply the glyconutrients for free, if there were funds to monitor results - prior & post trial - I think he is interested in the 'gulf war syndrome' vets' group

By the way,

Autoimmune Diseases

T-cells can further divide into helper lymphocytes (Th) and cytotoxic (Tc) or suppressor cells. In response to a foreign pathogen, T-cells secrete communication molecules known as lymphokines, cyto-kines, interleukins, and interferons. T-helper cells assist B-cells and further divide into two special lines of defense. These are Th1 and Th2. When one of these lines (Th1 or Th2) overexpresses, an opportunity for immune dysregulation occurs, resulting in either a hyperimmune response causing autoimmune disease or a hypoimmune response leading to uncontrollable infection. Sterinol, a combination of natural plant sterols and sterolins, modulates the function of the body's T-cells by enhancing their ability to divide. They further promote interleukin-2 and gamma-interferon without enhancing Th2 helper cells that promote inflammation and produce more antibodies. Conventional drug treatment inhibits the entire immune response. Sterolins, however, modulate immune response and are able to reverse immune abnormality at the disease site (Bouic et al. 1996; Gupta et al. 1998).

Alkylglycerols are derived from shark liver oil. Studies indicate that the activation of protein kinase C, an essential step in cell proliferation, can be inhibited by alkylglycerols. Although the mechanism of antiproliferative and immunomodulatory action is unknown, hormonal action of both the autocrine and paracrine systems has been suggested (Pugliese et al. 1998). Alkylglycerols have been promoted for use in immune system stimulation. However, benefits have been reported in those suffering from asthma, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune disorders.

L-carnitine is an amino acid that is known to improve conditions associated with low cellular energy. L-carnitine has been shown to reduce the impairment of immune function caused by the consumption of dangerous fats (De Simone et al. 1982). This beneficial action is attributed to L-carnitine's ability to lower serum lipids (fats) by enhancing the transport of beneficial fatty acids into the cell's mitochondria, where they are used to produce energy. Acetyl-L-carnitine is the form of carnitine that is utilized more efficiently in the mitochondria.

Supporting the GI Tract
Intestinal permeability is often disrupted by health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, pancreatic dysfunction, and food allergies. Events such as aging, stress, medications, and alcohol consumption also alter permeability, compromising the barrier that separates food and intestinal bacteria from the rest of the body.

Poor intestinal motility and peristalsis can change beneficial bacterial flora by altering the natural flow of nutrients that are available to them. These same factors can add to the overgrowth of abnormal bacteria and the byproducts they produce, leading to the absorption of antigenic substances into the bloodstream. Immune-related disease is associated with antigenic substances produced by intestinal flora. To correct the problem, bacterial balance must be restored through the use of supplemental probiotics and prebiotics that feed the underproduced bacteria. Species of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli will help restore microfloral balance and stabilize permeability. Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are simple sugars that are the preferred nutrient for lactobacilli and bifidobacteria (with the exception of the bifidum species).

Certain nutritional supplements are used by intestinal cells for growth and function. They include:

  • L-glutamine, a nonessential amino acid that increases the number of cells in the small intestine along with the number and height of villi on those cells
  • Butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid that enhances function and integrity in the large intestine and is an anticancer agent
  • The fatty acids DHA (from fish oil) and GLA (from borage oil), which decrease inflammation and improve intestinal functioning

Appendix A of this protocol provides specific information relating to dietary and intestinal factors involved in autoimmune disease.

Reducing Stress
Stress is a major risk factor in developing disease. Even prolonged low-level stress stimulates the adrenal glands to produce cortisol, which, in excess, impairs immune function. Lack of proper rest and sleep, depression, and emotional disturbance contribute to immune dysfunction. In addition, there is a connection between the limbic system, the part of the brain that gives rise to emotion, and immune function. Therefore, to balance the immune system, one must balance the mind and emotions. Biofeedback, guided imagery, yoga, deep breathing, musical participation, positive affirmations, meditation, and prayer all help maintain balance (Hughes 1997; Long et al. 2001; Kuhn 2002; Lehrer et al. 2002; Vempati et al. 2002).

A supplemental approach to stress reduction would be obtained from Garum armoricum extract (Adapton), which contains a class of unique polypeptides that act as precursors to endorphins and other neurotransmitters. These polypeptides exert a regulatory effect on the nervous system enabling an individual to adapt to mentally and physically stressful conditions (Crocq et al. 1978). Another antidote to stress is an amino acid found in green tea called theanine. Although theanine creates a tranquilizing effect on the brain, it appears to increase concentration and focus thought (Juneja et al. 1999). DHEA supplementation is the most effective way of blocking the effects of excess cortisol secretion.

Improving Liver Health
The liver plays a critical role in all aspects of metabolism and health. It is important in the synthesis and secretion of albumin (a blood clotting protein), in the storage of glucose, and in the synthesis of vitamins and minerals. Because the liver has a major role in the purification and clearance of waste products, drugs, and toxins, disease states may be improved by supporting liver function. The herb milk thistle and its components silymarin and silibinin have two therapeutic mechanisms. First, they alter the structure of the outer cell membrane of the hepatocyte to prevent penetration of liver poison into the interior of the cell. Second, they stimulate the action of nucleolar polymerase A, resulting in an increase in ribosomal protein synthesis, thus stimulating the regenerative ability of the liver and the formation of new hepatocytes (Flora et al. 1998; Luper 1998).

SUMMARY

Autoimmune diseases may be greatly improved by strengthening the immune system with nutritional supplements and by making healthy lifestyle changes in diet and stress reduction. The protocols needed may include prescription drugs as well as the following supplements.

  1. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids will help reduce systemic inflammation that accompanies autoimmune diseases. Life Extension recommends Super GLA/DHA, which has a balanced blend of both EFAs. EPA is also added to the formula to reduce the effects of arachidonic acid, the inflammatory agent found in meat products. Take 6 softgels daily.
  2. DHEA is a steroidal hormone that can reduce the effects of inflammatory cytokines; 25-50 mg daily is recommended. DHEA is contraindicated in men with prostate cancer and in women with estrogen related cancer (refer to the DHEA Replacement Therapy protocol for complete information).
  3. Free-radical damage is a byproduct of normal metabolic functioning and exposure to toxic substances. The following supplements have proven to be effective free radical scavengers:
    • Vitamin C, 2.5-6 grams daily.
    • Vitamin E, 1 softgel daily of Gamma E Tocopherol/Tocotrienols. (The most balanced form of vitamin E is Gamma E Tocopherol/Tocotrienols, which provides broad spectrum protection.)
    • Green tea extract, two to four 300-mg (90% polyphenols) decaffeinated capsules daily.
    • Beta-carotene, one 25,000-IU softgel daily.
    • Grape seed-skin extract, two 100-mg capsules daily.
    • CoQ10, 100-200 mg daily.
    • SeMSc (selenium) may be the most effective selenium derivative to fight inflammation and neutralize free radicals; 1 capsule daily between meals.
    •

  4. Alkylglycerols from Norwegian Shark Liver Oil may modulate the immune system in certain forms of autoimmune disease; one 1000-mg softgel daily.
  5. Acetyl-L-carnitine enhances the transport of EFAs into the cell's mitochondria and may modulate the effects of damaging saturated fats. Suggested dose is two 500-mg softgels twice daily.
  6. Super Carnosine will help protect against the formation of glycated proteins; two to three 500-mg capsules daily.
  7. Moducare containing plant sterinols improves the immune system by balancing the Th1/Th2 response; 1 capsule 3 times daily between meals.
  8. Life Flora is a probiotic that can reinoculate the gut with healthy bacteria; 1-4 capsules daily for maintenance of GI health.
  9. NutraFlora is a prebiotic containing FOS, a nutrient for intestinal flora; 1-4 tsp daily for people with chronic disease states.
  10. Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid needed for healthy functioning of the large intestine. Butyrate enemas may help reduce the intestinal inflammation that accompanies certain autoimmune conditions. Butyrate enemas must be prescribed by a physician.
  11. L-glutamine will aid the small intestines by increasing the number and health of intestinal cells; 1-2 grams daily.
  12. Adapton acts as a precursor to endorphins, which help to reduce stress. To begin dosing, take 4 softgels first thing in the morning for 15 days and then reduce amount as needed.
  13. L-theanine, the amino acid derived from green tea, reduces stress by creating a sense of well-being; 1-4 capsules daily.
  14. The liver is the most important organ in the body for detoxification. Silymarin and Silibinin Plus improve liver function. Suggested dosage is 2 capsules daily of Silibinin Plus, which provides 250 mg of silibinin and 60 mg of silymarin.

I was  hoping he might have found help with glyconutrients ... which seem so promising

The TV news commentator said that he had been fighting the effects of smoking for 20 years (lung cancer?) and that he was a Vietnam Vet.  (Did he recall a serious FLU  during his military service ?  2-butoxoyethanol  should be suspect for his harm, if is)

Is Lung Cancer caused from Smoking?  Maybe; maybe not

If any of these ... or their direct family line members have the fatigue of CFIDS (acquired compensated autoimmune hemolytic anemia)

... then they are harmed not by smoking as is generally thought, but by 2-butoxyethanol type chemicals. They have been poisoned.

Blood in urine? or abnormql peripheral blood?

Assess the collateral health damage ... before going to war ... EVER

Does cousin Daisy Suckley's Diary of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, America's 32nd President, mention a time when he had flu-like symptomsHe did in 1917

A cheery fellow - 'Happy Days'

The History Channel Documentary 4-23-05 and 4-24-05, FDR: A Presidency Revealed talked about things that would be like what overexposure to 2-butoxyethanol would cause: * enlarged heart,  many horrible HEADACHES -   some at the base of the head, tired, ashen/pale color, difficulty finishing thoughts in sentences (short term memory loss), difficulty concentrating. Also high blood pressure (180/105), rapid weight loss (liver?)

Repeated headaches.  Headaches were intensifying

4-11-45 as he went to bed he was 'shivering'    (chills?)

After an acute headache at the back of his head, he collapsed on 4-12-45 and died a few hours later.  It is reported that he died of a cerebral hemorrhage ... was there an autopsy?  If it was advanced stages of the fatigue of CFIDS ... the doctors would not have found it.  They still don't even in 2005 - 60 years later.

The Headaches are an Autoimmune - Hormonal Issue

Probably came along after some type of flu symptoms.  Right?

They should be just part of the Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, and you probably have FATIGUE that the doctors don't pin-point.

It is also hormonal.  I heard of a man who had them as a teen ... then they disappeared as he went into puberty.  Another woman explained that her horrible headaches went away when she passed menopause.

I agree.  Meds can hurt more than help.  I suspect the headaches ... the CFIDS ... the diabetes that often shows up at some point .... is from a particular chemical exposure:  2-butoxyethanol.

Some explanation here:

Headaches like this can appear to run in families ... because people have been poisoned by this type of chemical for many decades ... and especially at each war period:  WWI, WWII, Vietnam war, Korean war, Gulf War ... today  ... at home and in the military and in industry.

A lot is known about it from those who do research;  almost nothing is known about it by doctors. If they learned about any chemical's effects ... they should learn about this one.  I suspect the fatigue they are looking for is autoimmune hemolytic anemia.

And they need to look at blood in urine, and flu like symptoms differently

Is it really worth fighting the VA for Gulf War Syndrome? It seems to me they just want to identify you to ridicule you and deny you benifits. I served in the Navy from July 76 until Jul 96 when I finally retired with my full 20 as a Chief Fire Controlman FCC (SW). I went out after spending nine of my last 12 months of active duty on limited duty. In July of 1995 I had a doctor who had been after me to go on limited duty for about six months and after getting a complete a$$hole for an XO I took him up on his offer. At the time I was having problems with weakness in my left arm, (MRI's showed a herniated disc in my neck and a couple, out of many, nerve tests showed some pinching of a nerve) at the same time I was seeing a rheumatoligist for joint/muscle aches, headaches and what they called DIMS ( Deminished ability to Induce and Maintain Sleep). Mind you I had been hiding the joint and muscle pain for years in fear of getting a medical retirement. During the course of the exams I was having the doctor was having a hard time locating reflexes in my left arm so he sent me to Bethesda to see a neuro surgeon so off my wife and I went. During the exam in Bethesda the doctor told me he was unable to get any reflexs anywhere in my body to react at all. He belived I had Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and should go back to my doctor in Mayport. I went back to FL and my Doctor did a spinal tap ( man talk about the mother of all head aches) and ruled out MS, in the mean time I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was sent to Charleston on 9 month TAD orders to be close to my family, went back to Floridqa for 3 months, finished out my 20 and retired, no retirement cermony or party, no end of service award, no thank you for your service, no transition assistance program, no benifits briefing , nothing, just one day I wore a uniform and the next day I didn't.

After I retired I approached civilian life just like I did military I worked hard to be sucessful. But things were getting harder and harder. When I first got out I applied for benfits for my neck and I had bad knees as well as sinus surgery, knee surgery and a rebuilt ankle. I continued to work hard ( as a Realtor). Being a sucessful Realtor takes long hours, working 60+ hour weeks and never having a day off. You have to be there when your clients are ready, day night or afternoon, weekday or weekend. So please all of you appreciate what your Realtor does for you. Any way after a while the body aches became to much and I was not able to put in the hours I once was able to. The fatigue was getting to me and there began to be days that I just could not fuction. I asked fro an increase in my compensation fro fybromyalgia (which at the time was only 10%) and I began to go to Voc Rehab training because I knew I would not be able to continue the long hours Real Estate required to earn a living. In In Jan 2003 I became ill and was having severe pain when breathing, my doctors took some x-rays and decided I had pneumonia and treated me with 10 days of antibiotics, a follow up appointment showed no improvement, they then started antother course of stronger antibiotics. Another follow up with no improvements. The x-ray showed a large amount of fluid on my left lung. My doctor took me aside and explained to me what was going on. He had consulted with another doctor and I was going to have to go into the hospital for some test to rule out TB and cancer. I went in, they drained 900ml off my left lung. Spent 10 daqys in hospital. Tets were neg for TB and cancer. Was out of hospital for 10 days when it all started to happen again. This time fluid was too thick to drain and I ended up with having my chest spread open and having lung surgery to remove the mess. I spent 4 days in ICU and 10 more days in hospital. I now have only about 50% lung capacity. Subsequent follow up with the consulting rheumatologist shows it was an autoimmune attack due to unspecified rheumatoid disease. I had a similar episode in 1985 but the doctor ( an internist) was never able to figure out what happened. I applied for benifits based on that and ofcourse the VA denied my claim. They say there is no service connection and it is probably related to the fybromyalgia for which I already receive compensation. I asked my doctor to review my active duty service record which he did and he pointed out several things that were over looked and why my current illness was undiagnosed while on active duty, that there were signs of it going all the way back to 1979 and that it was completely seperate from my fybromyalgia. I filled an appeal and have another C&P exam with the VA in a week. I am currently rated at 70% ( they droped me from 80 to 70 because they said that even though I now have 2 more herniated discs in my neck and one more in my back my degenerative disc disease is getting better). I am hoping to finally get a 100% rating because due to my illness and the side effect of the meds I take I haver been unable to work since May of 03. I now suffer from near constant muscle/joint pain, fatigue, depression, headaches ( that can last as long as a month at a time), have trouble sleeping, morning stifness, and fogginess. I tried for Social Security ( on my own) with out knowing the system and was turned down. hey told me to go back to Real Estate. So much for the goverment you protected supporting you. I was too embarassed to appeal. I guess I should try again.

How does all this tie into the Gulf War? I was over there aboard ship but I never figured I was effected by GWS. I was over there long after the peak of hostilities were over ( first half of 93). Of course we got an array of shots and pills prior to deployment but I don't know where my shot record is and there is nothing in my medical record. As a Fire Controlman I worked on the Navy's Close In Weapons Sysytem (CIWS) which fired 20mm DU rounds. We fired the rounds all the time and of course had to clean the gun and police up the deck for the sabots and debris as well as daily exposure to the magazine. This of course meant exposure to solvents when cleaning the gun and its systems. Shipboard life naturally meant some exposure to pesticides because the corpsman would have to routinely spray for pests. How much if any of this can or has attributed to where I am todqay I don't know but is it worth going to the VA and having them poke and probe me even more then they have? Is it worth them trying to discredit what I have already fought so hard for? It seems to me the people who would have the most exposure were the ground troops envolved in the actual ground war. Belive I could be wrong as I am as far from being a knowledge source as one can be. It just seems that the VA should be there to support the Veterans not to make their lives a nightmare. The worst part is is that it seems like no one cares. We are yesterdays garbage set out to the curb for collection and disposal. brokendown&old Jan, 2005 Source

My dad was also FCC in the Navy in WWII.

He, I believe, had this chemical exposure I'm concerned about. I think it is in bomb fumes that get in your eyes; also it is what guns are cleaned with, most likely. Based on his death at about age 62 (too young too die) and the changes in his personality/health ... and some minor birth defects me and my brother have ... I do believe that the syndrome X and diabetes that I showed up for me in recent years ...is a late to show up birth defect. Some thoughts on this here:
Why the epidemic of DIABETES in WWII nations?

For the muscle weakness you shared on ... Could it be CIDP? In the advance or acute stage it is what Pres FDR had (goes by another name). He didn't have polio, but the acute (instead of chronic) version of CIDP

Why I think Pres FDR was exposed to bomb fumes of WWI when he was Assist Sect of the Navy & got as close to the front lines as they would let him. About that time the male tanks were brought into the war ... then in 1918 the 'Spanish flu" that killed millions. General Dynamics wants to test these old things in a new package & shoot them off beyond our town in Jan/Feb of 07. Scares me a lot

The autoimmune issue you relate is VERY significant! I think the Presumptive list should be for all military from WWI to the present (excluding the real 'Agent-Orange-only' 'for sures')

Hawk asked about Chad Pagel of Indiana. Last I heard he was going in for tumor removal in his nasal passages 8-6-05. I have not heard from him. Since
he shared a few months prior that his liver & bone marrow was failing and they had him on mega drugs ... I'm concerned that he might not be alive. But I don't know that.

He has asked me to look through his medical records and that of his buddy who died about Christmas, 04. I believe they would both show the signs
of CFIDS - which would be a biormarker of 2-butoxyethanol poisoning

What we can learn from Hank Willimas, Sr

I found more on Hank WilliamsDoes anyone know what health issues his older sister, Irene, may have had?  Hank Williams was afflicted with spina bifida at birth, one of the birth defects from the teratogen chemical, 2-butoxyethanol.  It was refined & highly used from the 1930s on.  Widely in use today.  I think it is the cause of CFIDS & the fatigue doctors are looking for is the proof of its harm.  prove FATIGUE  & LOOK at the red blood cells.

Before that something similar, but a stronger version is my theory.  Many soldiers harmed from all war periods (& non war periods) during the past century.  His dad had brain aneurysm, facial paralysis ... & died in a VA hospital after lanquishing for years.  He was a WWI vet.

Look at how are VETS with health damage are ALIKE & you will be on to something.

Lung cancer  & other health issues put forward by the Vietnam vets ...

2-butoxyethanol does them all ... the VA only selected a very few & then blamed the wrong chemical for it.

Thank you to Dan Martin for what he is doing to help Korean Vets.  I think most vets get a raw deal, especially Korean, Gulf war, WWII & WWI vets, well Vietnam vets, too because they only get less than 10% of the presumptive disability approvals (they are blaming the wrong chemical) ... it is the other chemical in the mix.  How do these look the same?

It is not diabetes that causes so much harm, as is universally believed today, it is the chemical that causes diabetes, etc, etc

For your info Hank did have severe pain issues he broke his back in a car wreck pior to getting well known his booze issues are pure history. A little know fact Chariley Pride and Hank Jr are 1/2 brothers. When I was a Sn in HS I took mom to see Charlie Pride and she only heard him on the radio it was teriffic she was shocked when he walked out on stage. Worth the trip just to see momsface. Hank was also there and intro C P has his half brother. Being an OK farm boy I was raised on Hank and he was a demi God.
Still love his music though I dont listen to much modern country if you can call it that.
One war we hear very little about last July at state convention I ran into an old man who talked me into signing on helping Korean War Vets. Isnt that much most of them have all their benifits he was just afraid of loosing his office so I agreed. Aside from
frost bite issues we all know about little has ever been said conserning issues and problem they are having. My great grand dad when I was little talked about the mustard gas used during WW1. There were millions contaminated from that war not even talking about the land that was posioned.
I just got a packet on a guy who came down with pancreatic cancer him and his Dr are trying to say caused by Diabetes. He didnt serve in Vietnam so it will be a hard win but I have time. But question still remains.

My name is William Kenney

 I served with

brought agent orange to Korea in 1968 I was required to ride on top of
the truck as security when the truck came to spray our Admin area and
TAC site. I now have prostate cancer, diabities, and hypertension with
PTSD. The VA states the PTSD is not combat as there was no combat in
Korea and denied my agent orange claim as I do not show service in
Viet Nam and they that is the only place you could have been exposed.
I appeared before the traveling appeals board in Boston Mass two years
ago who remanded the case back to Boston to provide more information
POST HASTE, of course they took no action. It appears that the VA
could not find my medical records from the start of 2002 when I was
diog which were sitting in the basement of the VA hospital. The DAV
rep took me down there and we found over six hundred pages the
VA "missed"

Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether or modern name since its widespread use 1930s on is 2-butoxyethanol. It causes autoimmune hemolytic anemia that is hard to find ... but findable.

It causes lots and lots of birth defects & people are easily exposed today.
Do you have a diagnosis of autoimmune hemolytic anemia AIHA or IMHA

Prove the fatigue that the harmful component (2-butoxyethanol) of Inipol causes:
I really think I am right about this, and if you prove the FATIGUE of CFIDS ... you can prove it is this chemical ... and you would have flu like symptoms especially diarrhea within 5 minutes of a strong exposure.

Lung cancer is not what it is thought, nor diabetes either

US Rep Charlie Norwood - Dies of Lung Cancer

    February 13, 2007
    A sad farewell

Rep. Charlie Norwood, R-GA, passed away today from lung cancer, some three months after his diagnosis. Norwood had just won a seventh term to the House when he was diagnosed, and he quickly deteriorated. I didn't know too much about him, but everyone in the House seemed to like him, and he crossed party lines to try and pass a patient's bill of rights. He was a regular guy, a dentist, who wasn't political until he decided to run for office.

My sincerest condolences go out to his family right now. I know from experience what it's like to not have much warning before you lose someone very close to you.

Posted by Thad February 14, 2007

I think it is sad that a 'baby boomer' with lung cancer is thought to be from smoking or second hand smoke or asbestos exposure somehow. THE most probable cause is exposure to 2-butoxyethanol and many have parents who were poisoned by this chemical either in war eras or in manufacturing ... or from things everyone uses: paint, cleaning products. I am sad to hear of a fine man passing of any cancer, but especially one such as this which has a public, inacurate stigma attached to it. Senator Arlen Spector with his brain tumor/s and Hodgkin's lymphoma is another example of getting a late to show up birth defect ... most probably from a poisoning of a parent (His dad served in WWI). I think you will note from now on that the life expectancy in the USA is about 65. Researchers are very concerned about the rising rates of soft tissue sarcomas (such as all the lung cancers), diabetes, Autism, birth defects, and etc. You are dealing with the AUTOIMMUNE causing chemical exposure. Looks like 'the flu' Causes CFIDS, CFS, FM

In addition to exposure possibilities prior to his conception, Charlie Norwood could have received some second hand solvent exposure from his dental patients. Or gotten the flu (the chemical overexposure to 2-butoxyethanol) from some of his consituents.

For those who worked in Valdez in 1989, or even just lived here, we often see these 'collapsing' or having seisures, or coming down with diabetes or many kinds of cancers:  they &/or their family members.  2-butoxyethanol was in the cleanup experimental chemicals of the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup

    Repost - my own forum

For those with their own direct exposure/s such as many vets of all war eras & those with CFIDS ... body temp may be a clue to this chemical's poisoning

What was his body temp in the month he died? subnormal?

Memory Loss?  FATIGUE?  Anger, Depression, Difficulty concenatrating; difficulty sleeping?  All of these could be caused from the complex alcohol that has been plaging militray in EVERY war era ... back to WWI, a worse version and I suspect the real harm to the Vietnam vet, the Korean Vet, the Gulf war vets of 91 & today's soldiers, too

I'd say you are dealing with autoimmune issues and a poisoned nervous system, if you have this pattern of health issues.  Pres FDR had it , and even his doctors did not recongize it.  Civilians have it, to the same degree that military war eras have it ... about 28% of the population, so except for ALS (an autoimmune issue), they have no stand out harm, and it gets really confusing

CFIDS - This must be THE fatigue!

Many times those with this fatigue collapse from lack of blood ... or the advance fatigue of EGBE

... not a heart attack Just because the death certificate says the cause of death was a 'heart attack' does not mean that is the case. I think about my grandfather who died 10 years before I was born ... when my mom was 23 in 1935. He was a well-liked farmer in Mississippi and I remember my mother saying the same things you hear today, "Oh, he had diabetes ... and refused to eat right, so he died at the age of 52" Death certificate says he died from a heart attack. It is also admitted by the chemical companies that 2-butoxyethanol has been in widespread use since the 1930's. How he ran into this chemical, I do not know; but I STRONGLY suspesct it. I also suspect this chemical exposure and worse for the death of Pres FDR in 1945 ...

CFIDS? ... This must be THE fatigue

Civilians with CFS, FM, CFIDS? ... WWII soldiers? Vietnam Soldiers? Korean Conflict Soldiers? 'Gulf War Syndrome' vets ? ... EVOS workers

I was looking through this info on the FATIGUE I suspect EVOS workers have ... the fatigue doctors don't usually find... and one side effect of Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia is very high white blood cell count. One worker said that he had that, and the doctors were stumped as to what it meant. Have your doctor/s find out everything they can about the red blood cells and any autoimmune issues, (especially AUTOIMMUNE METABOLIC issues), tumors, etc

    Any
autoimmune issue is also possible ...
One person with diagnosis of low red blood cell anema also has a lowering platelet count. There is such a thing as an autoimmune action against platelets.

    Quote:
ITP is the destruction of "thrombocytes" (clotting cells) by the immune system in much the same manner as RBCs are destroyed in AIHA

Another shares that his blood is 'globbing' together ... another sign of AIHA

    I think this is
the fatigue those with CFIDS ... must have

It is the fatigue doctors are looking for in CFS, FM,
    Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome

It is the fatigue that exposure to 2-butoxyethanol would have

and headaches, pains here 'n there' are autoimmune issues that pile on

Those with CFIDS should fill in
the checklist ... for 'the pattern'
if you have it, ... share with your doctor/s

    and
what is your body temp? blood pressure? blood sugar?
high or low blood pressure, high or low blood sugar and high or low body temp

    'Part of what 2-butoxyethanol does'

Interesting to note that some AIHA is with a raised temp -

    Some with subnormal body temp

This is NOT bull - it has been proven in a lab and his work promises to kill cancer once and for all and our stupid government will not help him.

The inventor is a former radio broadcast engineer who had leukemia and hated seeing kids go through chemo; he decided to use his knowledge of electronics to kill cancer cells. I've read a number of articles on his work and everything looks legitimate.

The trick was to bond microscopic gold particles to the cancer cells only so that these particles would be vibrated by the radio waves and in turn vibrate the attached cancer cells to death.

It has worked on tumors in lab rats or mice.

There are NO after-effects, and usually 1 treatment kills all cancer cells. A second treatment will definitely kill whatever is left over.

Why horrible headaches when there is no brain tumor?

A primary cause of HORRIBLE HEADACHES, abnormal blood sugar, body temp, BP

    & loss of vision .... & loss of hearing   * ... & loss of sense of taste/smell   *

Question ... what would be causing the horrible headaches ... even continuing until after the brain tumor was removed and non recurring for 5 years (it was a pituitary tumor). posted by shais  brain tumor

I don't expect an answer, as my views would not be 'run of the mill' and will likely be discarded.

I have noticed that there is a very common chemical exposure that causes flu symptoms when people get exposed to it. Research says BUTYL (or most common form, 2-butoxyethanol) causes serious harm to blood and blood forming organs, damages kidneys and liver, and causes leukemia, brain tumors, tumors and cancers about anywhere.

It is easy to be exposed as it is a pesticide too strong even in home cleaning products; it is in paint; it is in dry cleaning and plastics manufacturing; AND you can be exposed 'second hand' if you are too near someone who is overexposed and breathing the chemical in their respiration to get into your eyes.

I suspect if headaches that are pretty horrible do not subside (has nothing to do with brain tumor the majority of the time) ... then there is a serious likelihood of continued exposure, And add on symptoms like that of Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, CFS, FM, ME. (Exact variation of no concern). This chemical causes the body to go autoimmune
*, and the numbers on blood work can go above or below normal and be what this chemical can do.

With real severe exposure other cancers, especially pancreatic cancer show up, which is what happened for my friend. And happened in 2008 for Ron Davis, MD, for Randy Pausch, PhD, who have died this year (more probably from the anemia than from the cancer per se), and now Patrick Swayze is seriously ill

    http://www.valdezlink.com/re/swayze2.htm

Medical science should also list exposure to 2-butoxyethanol for causing flu symptoms ... should realize that for this group of people a high white blood cell count is another anemia sign, not an infection nor lymphoma necessarily; that what is often blamed on one of the side effects (elevated blood sugar or diabetes) is simply that ... a side effect of exposure to 2-butoxyethanol exposure either now or in the family background. This chemical should also be looked into for cause of many birth defects (it is a teratogen chemical). It affects so many parts of the body, (Where it shows up first is irrelevant) not metastasis! The worst pesticide our Soldiers have been (& are being) exposed to... as well as civilians. No wonder the epidemiology lines are becoming so blurred

I suspect degenerative discs are an advance autoimmune issue ... after the fatigue/anemia gets pretty serious. http://www.valdezlink.com/re/discussdegenerativediscs.htm

... and I suspect it is the cause of 'gulf war syndrome' and the primary cause of harm to the Vietnam Vets, etc, etc  http://www.valdezlink.com/re/achemicaltosuspect.htm  Those who studied the harm to our Vietnam vets got the 'list of what ails them right, but did not find the PRIMARY cause of harm

These are my opinions based on looking at groups with known and suspected exposure. For those with DIRECT exposure and THE Fatigue ... that is the very proof that Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether or similar chemical is the cause of ALL that ails them.

Most Probable cause of Jett Travolta's death

The chemical exposure that would cause Kawasaki Syndrome (BUTYL or 2-butoxyethanol) is also a cause of serious anemia. I suspect this advanced autoimmune hemolytic anemia was the more probable cause of death. It is not generally found by doctors, but it can be.

    Check info here http://www.valdezlink.com/re/jettdiscuss.htm#on

Last night on the 'Geraldo at Large' program they said that Jett was very tired and 'sleeping' 12-16 hours a day, that he had very serious and multiple grande mal seizures that medicine no longer helped, and that he was non verbal.

(Did he have normal language development before the age 2 illness? Normal development in general, then not so thereafter?)

I still suspect the advanced anemia that 2-butoxyethanol exposure would cause and that he would have
'the chills' or shivering, rapid heart beat and shortness of breath

He could have tumors anywhere, even brain tumors, but they won't be the cause of death. He could have extremely high white blood cell counts, but that would be an AIHA or IMHA anemia sign,
    in this context

Did he have a subnormal body temperature? ... subnormal blood pressure? subnormal blood sugar?

    Dear Senator Lisa Murkowski,

Thank you for sharing my concerns with the Dept of Defense regarding the harm of Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether or 2-butoxyethanol ... BUTYL for short.  Although the gulf war vets have many exposures, the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers (BIOREMEDIATION workers who sprayed Inipol EAP 22) have this as their primary exposure and there were 1000 young men.  What happened to them (1989) has vital significance for medicine today.

And to today's military and to civilians as well.  But the Public does not know what happened to them.  They can make no comparisons.  *

Many are dead already, just as many gulf war vets are dead. And many others affected, too! (Non exclusive harm)

Too much exposure looks like the flu.  A virus should not be suspect for most of the 'flu symptoms.'  EGBE causes one's body's immune system to rapidly attack them. The proof that this chemical is the culprit is the anemia of CFIDS that it causes ... but which doctors do not generally find. (Too many things going on at the same time prevents discovery).  Butyl exposure causes infinite variations.  The numbers doctors look at can go high (with acute exposure or early on) to low (later years).

Both Senators Kennedy and Byrd would be helped if their doctors understood THIS anemia.  It is more life threatening than any other autoimmune issue or cancer that subsequently shows up.  Yes, it would be the FATIGUE that caused Senator Kennedy's recent seizure (lack of oxygen) and doctors should look at the red blood cells.  They are not the right type of red blood cells, as would be expected per 'the numbers'  Gulf war vet, Cesar Arreola, became dizzy with shortness of breath after strenuous exercise.  Dies 1/18/09 at age 37.  I suspect he used up the oxygen that his red blood cells had to offer, and then died from the lack of oxygen (THE FATIGUE, THE ANEMIA) ... when the red blood cells could not easily replace it.

I also suspect this as the most probable cause of Jett Travolta's death:  advance anemia after near death from Kawasaki syndrome when he was 2 years old (exposure was this chemical in carpet cleaning) ... would lead to a very advance anemia years later. *    *

I think there may be some helps here for our Senators & others affected http://www.valdezlink.com/gwv/diesafterworkout2.htm#is

The autoimmune metabolic causing chemical should also be suspect for the cause of Autism.  I was noticing in UK research that there is an autoimmune metabolic aspect to Autism & nervous system issues would be a part of it.  The UK has better research on this chemical causing a multitude of cancers, as well *  An EVOS worker, Richard Nagel, has looked into the French Inipol and said there was research on what happened to those workers and that cancers were a stand out harm.  Even our President has been touched by the type of cancers this chemical would cause, with very possible exposures to his mom & his grandparents  *

There is research that shows that there is a preponderance of Autism among gulf war vets.  And since I suspect EGBE for the primary harm of these vets .... so also do I suspect it for Autism in general * and also for the epidemic of cancers and autoimmune metabolic issues such as Syndrome X and diabetes (only a side effect that is easy to find).

We need to help today's Vets as they are at risk even more than those of other war eras.  We need to be looking for what is alike for every war era from WWI, WWII, Vietnam War *, Korean War, Panama & Somalia conflicts, Gulf War I, Iraqi war, and that in Afghanistan.  Any and all autoimmune issues for them and for their children (Serious birth defects from this teratogen chemical).  My condolences go out to all who have had too much exposure to this chemical ... which also I suspect * for SSG James Alford of Karnack, TX who died last month of 'mad cow disease' ... actually the most serious autoimmune issue that trumps even ALS, Parkinson's, MS.  www.valdezlink.com/pages/autoimmune.htm  There are so many autoimmune issues that some of them don't even have names yet  *

In advance anemia you start to see very high white blood cell counts (not likely an infection for these - an anemia sign) and what do white blood cells do in a system that has become autoimmune?  Attack even our bones (Degenerative Disc Disease is often an autoimmune issue.) *  I see Senator Kennedy walking with a cane ... also our Dick Cheney, Former Justice Rehnquist, etc

I hope doctors will consider looking at the same medical info in a new light.  I can't think of anything worse than letting this chemical continue to harm us ... and for us to give more chemical exposures (often even medications) hoping for help.  I suppose our health care costs could bankrupt us all by themselves.  Continuing on the road of 'helps' we have been on would be a big mistake.  A new direction will definitely be in order.

Since EPA lifted all restrictions on this chemical at the lobbying of chemical companies in 2003, I suspect EGBE should be suspect for contributing to the rapid acceleration of global warming and the melting of the polar ice caps. *

I thank you for your interest and I hope that your influence, and what Alaska can contribute to our Nation's health information will help this chemical from continuing to harm our soldiers and our babies & our moms and dads and the hardworking people who are most at risk (Those who clean, who paint, who WORK)  Worst exposure is vapors in your eyes.  Everyone also needs to understand 'secondhand solvent exposure'

Beyond poisoning of our Troops and not knowing by what ... the next most troubling issue  is the damage to the children.  The birth defects *, the inability to have a full term baby (or any baby at all) ... the loss of hearing, the loss of eyesight, loss of sense of taste and smell, the loss of touch' ... even short term memory loss.  Study for class & know what you need to know the night before, and forget 80% by the next day.  There are widespread implications for Alzheimer's for those who will need special education.  The burden upon our families ... upon our schools ... upon our healthcare system ... and upon our Military ... should not be.  Even our pets are at risk  *

We need new laws of disclosure.  As it is now, companies do not have to disclose to housewives what is in the cleaning products they use.  We should consider banning this chemical and if not learn to avoid it!  *

The worst pesticide our Soldiers have been (& are being) exposed to

    Flu shots?  *

Subject: sniffles - congestion ... can mean exposure to BUTYL
    mother_margaret
    Send Email Send Email

    Can cause ANY autoimmune issue:

    Examples of exposure:

when I talked to a city employee on Friday ....

     . . . & a couple of times throughout the day,
it seemed she had congestion & it appeared to be getting worse throughout the day.

What I suspect should at least be considered.  Was there any BUTYL at home or at work?  (She would have to be very observant as to EXACTLY WHEN this started)

My thoughts shared with a 25 year old Marine on a health forum just now:
(He had heart palpitations & shortness of breath when running)

A couple of web pages I wrote to explain the harm of butyl:
    http://www.valdezlink.com/re/health/find.htm

    http://www.valdezlink.com/re/vets/thomas.htm

Exposure to 2-butoxyethanol or BUTYL (ethylene glycol monobutyl ether) should be avoided.
    http://www.valdezlink.com/re/butylcauses.htm

    My reply to his questions:

Sounds like you have the anemia that's hard to find.  The kind that is referenced in 'gulf war syndrome' or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome.  Part of the definition is that doctors do not know what the fatigue is.

Besides rapid heart beat and shortness of breath do you also have 'the chills?'
Do you have an abnormal body temp?  high or low?
Abnormal blood sugar?  (That IS one thing easy for doctors to find)
    Abnormal blood pressure?
    http://www.valdezlink.com/pages/bodytemp.htm

    This anemia is very serious.
You can easily be exposed in many household cleaning products.
Butyl or 2-butoxyethanol does not have to be disclosed, and often is not

    We need new laws
    http://www.valdezlink.com/re/clean/cleanshower.htm

Exposure looks like 'the flu' but can be as simple as a cough, a rash, 'the sniffles' farting, diarrhea ... moisture under one's nose (loosening of the sinuses)
Do you have headaches?  Do  you have any short term memory loss?
    http://www.valdezlink.com/re/thechills.htm

I am concerned for a little boy age 2 who is very sensitive to this ... At his young age he can be maxed out on this chemical ... and when a runny nose starts his mom should immediately ask .... what have I been cleaning with ...?   Where have I taken this little one?  ... who has come over?
WHAT WAS DIFFERENT... than before the sniffles started?

Give the doctors a clue and ask them to ask the lab tech to LOOK at the RED Blood cells and tell them everything about them that they can.

I would get doctor's orders NOT to run.  One vet had serious fatigue issues and was trying out for another civilian job in the Sherrif's office of which part of it was strenuous excercise.  He had shortness of breath and ended being taken to the ER.  He died.  I suspect he was dealing with autoimmune hemolytic anemia and that he expended all his available oxygen during exercise, and the oxygen could not be replenished quickly enough ... and he died.  This was Jan 18, 2009 in El Paso, TX  Cesar Arreola became dizzy, light headed with shortness of breath. He was 37 when he died.

See if you can find a doctor who is interested
This chemical harms soldiers throughout the past century especially during wars
HELPs  ... or find a doctor who is humble (Ask the nurses)
    http://www.valdezlink.com/re/vets/helps.htm

This chemical causes multiple autoimmune issues at once.
    http://www.valdezlink.com/pages/autoimmune.htm

Too many things going on at the same time for doctors / researchers to pinpoint
