Hi Fai,
Inline Speed, Inline Hockey and Inline Figure Skating get a
relatively favourable response and will ultimately justify
themselves as olympic disciplines.
It is artistic quad roller skating that is increasingly
embarrassingly awful.
It is clunky & noisy with ugly body lines. Not very artistic and it
is not just a physical thing. It is a different mentality!
Quad skaters are recreational INVETERATE AMATEURS practicing a
roller sport.
Ice/Inliners are vocational RAZZMATAZZ PROS in showbusiness careers!
I personally shudder when quad fundamentalists insist & persist in
promoting roller sports.
The biggest favour they can do for roller sports is to remove their
quads...
and learn to skate on real edges as the ice/inliners do!
Honestly, quad skating is out-dated, tacky and quaint!
It just doesn't allow for a comparable poetry in motion as in
ice/inline figure skating.
Evgeny Plushenko on quads would be as ridiculous as Lance Armstrong
on a tricycle!
I created the European Inline Figure Skating Association in May
2001.
I announced it on the FIRS website and FIRS/CIPA decided to include
Inline Freestyle at Worlds 2002.

"Why is inline figure skating not as popular as quad artistic
skating?"
-Ice skaters have only recently discovered it and love it.
-It's difficult for quad skaters to crossover to inlines.
-Inline figure skating requires an overall technique more akin to
ice than to quads.
-The inline figure frames are not optimal yet, requiring better
wheels and toe-stops.
- Quad conservative bigotry campaigns against the introduction of
inline.
- In certain clubs kids arriving on inline skates are forced to
remove their inlines and don quads or else LEAVE!
-Most quad coaches don't fathom the proper technique required to
teach on inlines.
"Will inline ever catch up and take over?"
-It already has! Off-ice training for ice skaters is on inlines!
-Quads are extremely uncomfortable for crossover ice skaters.
-Ice/inliners would rather die than be seen on quads.

Ruben Genchi has been promoting Inline Figure Skating in Italy and
the USA for about 10 years; he is the coach of the current world
champion Silvia Marangoni.

wondering that how come skating is not included in the olympics?(not
refering winter olympics) Is it because no one is enthu enough to
push the sport up or is it olympic comm doesnt approve of the sport?
How come most of the governing entities focus more on roller and not
the upcoming figure inlines which has been around for quite some
time? (at least 4 years) Sorry to bother you with so much queries
but just wondering if anyone has the same burning thoughts as
mine :) Would be wonderful if you can, again, provide me with
answers :) Thanks a million :)
