You've already heard about the accident on Shug on Saturday morning and you may
know the cyclist, Ty Garner, a physical therapist. We don't yet know more than
was in the newspaper on Sunday. As soon as we have an address for Ty, I will
post it so that we can at the least send cards and good will to him and his
family.

Shug Jordan is part of the city of Auburn Bicycle Network and I ride it
regularly as part of the EUD/Shug loop. In six years I have had one incident
when an SUV purposefully buzzed me. However I personally am reconsidering riding
Shug in light of drivers while texting, which is not yet illegal in Alabama. In
fairness, we do not know if the driver who hit Ty was texting.

Does anyone ride Shug? If not, why not? Should the city remove it from the Bike
Network?
