Criterium and Cheaha Challenge Century, arguably the biggest bike weekend in
the State. It must be since Frankie Andreu is expected to make an
appearance in the Century.

What: Noble Street Festival with
Sunny King Criterium, Red Diamond Restaurant Tour, McWane Kid Zone, Mellow
Mushroom Mad Dash, and Pedaling Art Show
And the 17th Annual Cheaha Challenge Century –
largest century ride in Alabama - in Anniston/Piedmont. Come ride with
9-time Tour de France rider Frankie Andreu and others.
Where: festival
is in downtown Anniston and the century ride starts in the small town of
Piedmont, Alabama and goes up to the top of Alabama’s highest mountain
– Cheaha Mountain. 7,400 feet of cumulative climbing (many shorter
options available)
When: the Noble Street Festival
is Saturday afternoon, May 2, and the Cheaha Challenge Century ride is Sunday
morning, May 3rd, 2009
This is a great
family weekend that actually starts Friday night (hospitality dinner event for
all – come meet some pros). The Sunny King Crit will include pros from
top international teams. The Cheaha Challenge is billed as the
“Toughest Ride in the South” and is well- attended (we expect >
700) and well-supported with >300 volunteers.
