Hello Friends and Fellow Bike Riders,
Alabama has a new multi-day bike adventure
that I would like to invite you to join as a participant or a volunteer.
It will be held May 23 through the 30th in 2009. You can
register through Active.com.
Of course, complete information is at our website www.amba1.com.
If you have never been to Alabama, here is
your chance to see this interesting and historic part of the world. This
event minimizes hassles of moving camp by staying in one location all
week. Just set up camp once and tear down once, or check into only one
hotel/motel. High value, low hassle and big fun!
Each day will feature an out-and-back loop
with a historic or interesting stop at the apex of the loop. Wednesday is
scheduled as an off day so you can explore the area and sites too far to bike
to or ones where you will want to spend more time…. Maybe go on a road
trip for some famous Alabama BBQ….
Since your cars are available to you, you are
not land locked and can explore at your leisure. You may even find your
new favorite restaurant or libation station (tavern or bar). College town
Auburn has a lively downtown scene.
This is also a perfect event for couples with
two different agendas. While one mate is riding the other can go golfing
at some of the best public courses available and still meet up in the
evening. A list of alternative activities will be provided for the partner
not interested in biking, or for those who don’t want to do the mileage
each day.
Come be part of history on the first annual
AMBA – Alabama’s Magnificent Bicycling Adventure.
You’ll have a ‘big ol’’ time, Alabama style and support
our own homegrown bicycle advocacy group, AlaBike.
