I asked ride organizers if there was a cheaper rate for past riders as
there has always been. This was the answer:

Fair Question - The "early bird" rate last year was $35 until late
January (as I recall) whereupon it went to $40. That rate for this year
was moved to $40, however, the deadline for that rate was extended to
March 7th, thereby giving riders a longer window to take advantage of
that rate. After March 7th, the rate moves to $55. We hope you'll stay
with us. We did agonize over the increase to $40; however, we felt
that we are on par with comparable events. The other consideration is
that this is a fundraiser for our volunteer fire departments.
