From our
friends at the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Club…
May 5 & 6, Anniston
& Piedmont,
Alabama-----Don’t
miss a great family cycling weekend with the combination of the Noble Street
Festival on Saturday evening and the Cheaha Challenge Century on Sunday
morning. Selected a Top 10 Event in Alabama in 2006, this weekend is packed with
fun for the whole family! The 4th annual festival on Saturday
evening in downtown Anniston attracted more than 5,000 in 2006 and includes
nationally recognized Pro & amateur bicycle races (including many Tour de
Georgia teams!), cool “just for fun” kids races, 15 restaurants
serving great food from tents in the closed streets, hands-on art for kids, a
climbing wall, a street market of 40 artists displaying their works, a science
demonstration for kids from Birmingham's McWane Science Center, a skateboard
park, a .7 mile "dash!" running race around the crit course, and
more! Wake up early on Sunday and tackle the Cheaha Challenge just up the
road in Piedmont. This organized
recreational ride is in its 15th year and attracts hundreds of
cyclists from more than 20 states. The ride offers route options for ALL
levels of cyclists----the shorter routes have almost no hills, while the full
102-mile route climbs Alabama’s highest mountain----twice!!---inflicting
more than 7400 feet of cumulative climbing. For those Cheaha families
arriving on Friday evening, join us on the roof of Animal Medical
Center downtown for
dinner and fellowship! The first 500 registered for the Cheaha Challenge
receive a custom Cheaha water bottle! Visit www.noblestreetfestival.com and www.cheahachallenge.com for all the
details.
