If you have a team and would like to play, we'd love to have you. If you are an
individual who would like to play, we might be able to get four of you together
to play. If you're interested, please post a message and we will see if we can
get a team together. This team must be registered by Sunday, 4/29, so get your
registration in quickly!

Hello Volleyball Players,

I am helping a friend of mine with a charity volleyball tournament (The Leukemia
& Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training) that will take place at the Dulles
sand courts on Friday, June 25th from 6:30pm to around midnight. I'm emailing
you to gauge your interest in participating. As of now, we're thinking about
having two courts of Coed 4's BB and one court of either Men's 4's A/BB, Coed
4's A or Coed 6's.

Can you tell me if something like this would interest you? Could you pass along
this information to your friends? If so, I'd really appreciate your
feedback/comments. We're thinking about having 4 teams per net (or
more)....we'd have prizes (probably gift cards), a DJ (most likely), a vendor
for burgers/hotdogs, drinks, etc.

This is a wonderful cause to support, so, please let us know if this might
interest you (not expecting a commitment now, just gauging interest level).
Your responses will help us determine what levels we will offer.

Thank you!

WHO:

Charity Volleyball Tournament to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Founded in 1949, we are relentless in pursuit of our mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

LLS has invested more than $680 million in research, approximately $69 million in fiscal year 2009 alone. Programs like the Specialized Center of Research (SCOR), which brings together teams of scientists from different disciplines and our Translational Research Program, which funds research with a high probability of producing innovative patient treatments in an accelerated time frame, have directly contributed to many breakthrough cancer treatments. Research funded by LLS has led or contributed to advances such as chemotherapy, Gleevec®. We made 4.9 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals in fiscal year 2009, through our Information Resource Center (IRC), our award winning Web site and community-based patient service programs. We put people together with experts through Web-casts and teleconferences, and provided professional education through seminars, to extend the latest findings to a broader professional audience. An estimated 912,938 people in the United States are living with, or are in remission from, leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every four minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.

By the way, does anyone know whom would I call or email to see if they found my cell phone at the sand courts last night?  I could not find it.  If you get this email this morning, please call me at work 703-735-8585.  If you get it later, please call or text my wife's cell 814-341-7466 so that I can find my phone.  Thank you in advance.
