Wanted to thank everyone who was involved with the USEDA Drillmaster
and Judges Clinic for one of the most organized and informative
educational sessions I've ever attended (and that includes the
hundreds I've attended as a nurse !) The program moved along briskly,
stayed "on topic", speakers were informative and the content followed
a commendable progression of information.
Everyone was very helpful with answers to our questions and offering
suggestions. Janet Corbin has already implemented many of the things
we learned into the Red Hats and Purple Chaps Drill Team. In addition
to the Drill Team, I am heading up another group, our "just for fun"
riders who dress in costumes. I will be working with these gals to
improve their parade skills and do simple routines. We are still
working on having Gary and Ray come up to Indiana in the Spring for a
visit and clinic for our whole group.
Luther send me a "parade routine" and we will be using a portion of
the routine, in our appearance at the McDonald's Thanksgiving Day
Parade. If you can get WGN out of Chicago, it's televised from 8:00am
to 11:00am Central Time, Thanksgiving Day. It is one of the 3
nationally televised parades, so if you can get it, watch for us. We
will be "on" around 9:00am and are Unit 24. We will be wearing our
purple capes (because it's going to be really cold), purple chaps, our
red or pink hats and big smiles. I'll be riding the sorrel with a big
white blaze and Janet will be on her bay TWH. If we ride 4-across,
both of us will be in the front row, if they limit us to 2-across,
Janet will be in the 2nd row (toward the camera side)---we'll wave to
all of you ! We have also been asked to do a pre-parade interview, so
we may also be part of the news broadcast too.
Again, thank you to everyone. Please forward this email to everyone.
Thank you for your hospitality and a wonderful education. Janet and
I are hoping to find some drill team exhibitions this coming season to
"rookie judge".
