Hello everyone, this is a project to se how many names we can collect. How do you feel about horse slaughter? I think it is cruel and inhumane and should be stop.I don't know if you know, but every day in the United States horses die, not due to neglect or to abuse, but due to the intentional killing of horses for processing into meat products. It is illegal to eat horsemeat in the United States and illegal to sell the meat. However, every day 156 horses enter one of two plants in the state of Texas and they never leave. Instead their meat is packaged into meat containers and are stamped with "A Taste of Texas" and is shipped to buyers in France, Belgium, Japan and Italy. These buyers pay a premium for this meat, up to $20 a pound. Most people in the United States are unaware that this is happening to their horses.
Many horse lovers are upset to see the numbers of horse slaughter rising. If you had personaly looked at the pictures many of us have seen, Im sure you would be quite appauled. The horse should be treasured and kept safe. Though I know many people say "We kill cattle, chickens, and many other animals for there use." Yes, thats true, but long ago the horse took us across the land to the West to settle the world. He offered his strenght, his courage, his ambition, he gave up his wild nature to be controled by us. He carried us through wars bravely protecting his rider, he offered a symbol to the West's wild nature. He gave his strength to carry supplies, food, and transported any other things. He helped to build the railroads across the world, connecting them. Modern days, horses are now being used to help the people who have no feelings in there legs to feel what its like to walk for the first time.
He performs for us to show beauty, he races and risks his life in the sport by breaking a leg. He does competitions for us and he helps to give crimianls a new start in the camps for those men who have a second chance. People who own a horse can tell you the bonds they have with them. I could not ever dream of seeing a beautiful horse in those horibble places. they are tough little things with a lot of spirit, but I am sure they would break tremendously at the sounds of having to hear another horse die not far away and know that that is their fate, that they is the next in line to be killed to feed someone else.If you are against Horse Slaughter as I am, add your name to the list and pass it on to as many people you can, including the person who sent it to you.1.
