Hey everyone!

This week’s run will start from Noa Noa at 7:30am.  The route will depend a bit on the weather.  If we get some of the snow they are predicting, we will stick to the path and the Fairmount Trail.  Otherwise, we will see what North Table Mountain looks like.  All skill levels are welcome, and the routes will have several variations depending on how far you want to go.

Meeting Spot

Noa Noa Espresso and News is located in the Canyon Point strip mall tucked between Ali Babba and The Spot. Here is a map. Canyon Point is east of Hwy 93 between Washington Ave and Iowa Dr.

Last week's run

We had a great turnout (11 people) and an amazing run at Centennial Cone last weekend.  Thanks to everyone who made the trip.  The carpool from Noa Noa worked out great, and we treated ourselves to hot beverages and food upon our return.  Hope to see you all again this weekend!  Dress warm!

~Brian

This week's run is at Green Mountain. It will be an almost full moon run, since
Wednesday is a full moon. The early group meets at 5:30pm; the main group starts
at 6:15pm. We will try starting from a different spot: Forsberg Park, off
Alameda Pkwy. between Bear Creek Blvd. and C-470.

Run notes: We will cross Alameda and head east on the Green Mtn. trail toward
the Utah and Florida lots. If you are not familiar with the trails, please
review the map in advance. This is a link to a map and directions: Green Mtn
Directions and Route.html. Ignore the directions to the Rooney parking lot,
however, and follow these directions. From Denver, head west of either 6th Ave.
or I-70 to C-470 south. From the south, head north on C-470. Exit C-470 at
Alameda and head east 1.0 mile to the top of the hill. Forsberg Park is on the
right. If you reach Bear Creek Blvd, you've gone too far.

We usually suggest several routes of different length at each run. The different
routes are designed so that runners of different abilities can start and finish
at about the same time. Please pick the appropriate route for you. Don't
necessarily follow the people in front of you. The sub-groups/routes are
approximately defined as follows:
Extra-Long: sub-40 10km (road race time, not the pace run at DTR runs)
Long: low-mid 40s 10km
Intermediate: mid 40s to low 50s 10km
Short: mid 50s+ 10km

DTR runs are not races. We ask the faster runners to start slowly, to keep the
group together for the first 5-10 minutes. After that, we spread out and
naturally form smaller sub-groups. We ask experienced runners to wait at key
intersections to help guide newer runners.

Bring warm and dry clothing for after the run.

Everyone is invited to join us for dinner after the run. We will pick a nearby
restaurant.

Carpool: If interested in carpooling from central Denver, please call John at
303-902-6173

Hey everyone!

Centennial Cone closes for the winter on Dec 1st, so this weekend is our last chance this year to run there.  The distances will vary from doing to the full 12+ mile loop, to making it an out-and-back to suit your ability and preference.  As always, all ability levels are welcome.

Meeting Spot options:
  1. Carpool - meet at Noa Noa by 7:00am and we'll carpool to the trailhead (and stop in for a hot coffee on the way home).  Noa Noa Espresso and News is located in the Canyon Point strip mall tucked between Ali Babba and The Spot. Here is a map. Canyon Point is east of Hwy 93 between Washington Ave and Iowa Dr.
  2. Meet at the West Trailhead to start at 7:30am.  Here is the Jeffco Open Space site for the park with driving directions.  http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/openspace/openspace_T56_R95.htm
There are bathrooms at the trailhead, and Noa Noa is open early so that we can use their bathrooms as well.  Remember to bring some extra warm/dry clothes to keep you from getting a chill after the run.

Last week's run:
Thanks to Todd, Ray, Jason, Steve, Nick, and Anne for getting together for a great run last weekend on South Table Mountain.  Hope to see you all again this weekend!

Fri & Sun are the last chances to run Centennial Cone for a while. The park
closes for hunting in Dec & Jan. Weekends follow an alternate use schedule -
this weekend is bikers only on Sat, and runners and hikers on Sunday.

For those who haven't been there, it's a great trail just 10mi or so W of
Golden. The main loop is about 13mi. You can make it longer by taking the trail
down and back to Mayhem Gulch on hwy 6 (that lot and trailhead is still closed
for construction). Shorter options require doing an out-and-back.

If anyone wants to organize a DTR group run, post the info (time, meeting
location for car pools) here (I can't).

For those of you not familiar with the Mesa Trail, here are directions from
Golden. Take 93 north about 15.5 miles. Take a left at the light onto hwy. 170
(Eldorado Springs Dr.) The parking lot is on the right (north) side of the road
about 2.3 miles down.

Copy and paste this link for a map of the Mesa Trail network.
http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/www/openspace/swtrmap.htm
Sorry, I couldn't get it to copy as a link.

For those of you interested in a carpool, I would suggest posting your interest
on the Denver Trail Runners facebook page, under the Thanksgiving Day run
heading.

A good place to meet in Golden would be at Noa Noa Espresso and News, at about
8:30 am. It's about a 20 minute drive from there.
*Noa Noa Espresso and News is located in the Canyon Point strip mall tucked
between Ali Babba and The Spot. Canyon Point is east of Hwy 93 between
Washington Ave and Iowa Dr. Here is a map.

   * Meet at the parking area around the median, just past the Loaf 'n Jug, off
of hwy 93 and Iowa, on N Ruby Dr. http://tinyurl.com/3bzv3

Or carpoolers coming from Denver area could meet at the park-n-ride at 70th and
Broadway. This is near the junctions of I25, US36, and I76. From the S, via I25,
take the 70th avenue exit. It's on the right side, on the ramp to I-76. Turn
left on 70th for one block. The lot is on the NW corner. From the east, take hwy
270, to US36, to the Broadway (first) exit. Go left one block.
http://www.rtd-denver.com/
Click on park-n-Ride

Directions from there: Exit the lot going left onto Broadway, then left onto hwy
36. Take hwy 36 to McCaslin Blvd, Louisville/Superior
exit. Turn left from the off ramp, down from the overpass, about 1/4mi. Take the
first right, at the light, by the gas stations, onto Marshall Rd, hwy 170.
Continue past the shops and restaurants, about 5mi. At the light, continue
straight across hwy 93, another 2.3mi, to the parking lot on the right.

We will run the Mesa Trail from the south side on Thanksgiving morning. Meet at
the parking lot on the north side of the Eldorado Springs Rd at 9 am. Everyone
can run as far out as they like, then double back. Out to Chatauqua and back is
probably about 2 hours, more or less. Hopefully that will still leave enough
time for everyone to get to their Thanksgiving Day celebrations. We'll be sure
to work up a good appetite!

Hello!

This week we are going to tackle South Table Mountain.  There are some really simple variations that will allow you to lengthen or shorten the run to suit your needs - we'll top out at about 2hrs.  As always, all ability levels are welcome.

Meeting Spot:
Tanglewood Park
Roughly at 20th and Denver West Parkway (down the road from NREL)
Map and description here:  http://www.prospectdistrict.org/parks/tanglewood.php
They do have portos on-site, the shelter bathrooms are closed for the winter.

If any weather blows in like last weekend, we'll tailor the run back a bit and stick to neighborhood streets and some lower trails that are crushed stone.

Hope to see you there!

This week's run is at Chimney Gulch/Lookout Mtn. The early group meets at
5:30pm; the main group starts at 6:15pm. Meet at Beverly Heights Park in Golden.
Remember to bring your headlamp or other light. If you don't have a light yet,
you have the option to run the road up Lookout Mtn instead of the trail.

Driving Directions: From Denver, take Hwy 6 into Golden. Turn left at 19th St.
19th curves sharply to the left and becomes Lookout Mtn Road. As you come out
of that curve, look for us parked along the left side of the road, prior to the
pillars.

Run notes: The trail is 99% clear and dry, even in the trees. Traction devices
will not be needed. Most of us will take the trail to the top, but you are
welcome to take the road if you prefer. Some like to take the trail up, then
switch to the road for the return back down (the road is longer, by about 3/4
mile). As usual we'll plan to run for about 1:00-1:15. This is an out-and-back
route. You can simply turn around at the top (Boettcher Mansion), or turn
around at some point before the top if you prefer a shorter run. We suggest
that you turn around by about 40-45 minutes into your run, in order to get
everone back down in a reasonable amount of time.

DTR runs are not races. We ask the faster runners to start slowly, to keep the
group together for the first 5-10 minutes. After that, we spread out and

Hi all,
I posted a couple weeks ago and I have yet to join you on a run, I will soon I
promise!

I recently started a new business venture with my husband and a friend called
Animal Fitness, we organize what we call "wild fitness courses", part scavenger
hunt, part obstacle course, kind of like a mini adventure race with traditional
exercises and games built in.

We are just starting out and need some feedback on our courses from active
minded individuals who like a little adventure and are up for a challenge.

We will be putting on the "The squirrel" course this Saturday at 9:00am at Wash
park and the "The badger" course on Sunday 9:00am, expect to do a lot of running
up trails and on the stairs!

Rsvp or get more info about Animal Fitness at: animalfitness.net

Thanks!
