Week of Jan 22

IN THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE:
+ Thursday run & Marathon Movie
+ Other DTR affiliated runs: Sat Evergreen, Sun Golden
+ Events and Clinics:
+ Featured Races:
+ Race calendar
+ Donate/recycle your old shoes, running clothing and bikes
+ Other area clubs and runs
+ Discounts for DTRs

THURSDAY RUN & MOVIE
Run Location: South Table Mtn. Meet at the NREL lot.
6:00pm – Main group. EARLY START TIME!
5:30pm – CMRA group
3:30pm – Mary's group

Some people are planning to see the marathon movie. You can skip or do
a shorter run (finish at 6:45), to make it to the movie on-time. Movie
details below. Those not seeing the movie can do a longer run.

Run notes: With the snow, and now the relatively warm temperatures, I
don't know what the trail will be like. There's not a lot of climbing,
so traction devices are generally not needed. If it seems to be too
muddy, there's an alternate road route.

Movie: "Spirit of the Marathon" is the first ever non-fiction feature
film to capture the drama and essence of the famed 26.2 mile running
event. Filmed on four continents, the production brings together a
diverse cast of amateur athletes and marathon luminaries. As six
unique stories unfold, each runner prepares for and ultimately faces
the challenge of the Chicago Marathon. More than a sports program,
"Spirit of the Marathon" is an inspirational journey of perseverance
and personal triumph; a spectacle that will be embraced by runners and
non-runners alike.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at the theater, online
at http://www.fathomevents.com/, or at the door. That site also has
video clips of the movie. It's not known whether this will sell out,
so you might want to get yours in advance. Do not confuse this
theater with the one at Denver West. The UA Colorado Mills Stadium 16
is at the east end of Colorado Mills Mall.

There should be time for you to run with us at South Table Mtn
(6:00pm) and make it to the theater for the movie (7:30pm). If you're
interested in getting some quick food in between the run and movie,
you can cut your run a bit short and grab some food in the vicinity of
the theater, perhaps in the Colorado Mills food court (Qdoba, Sbarro,
Panda Express, Burger King, others) or at one of the restaurants at
the east end of the mall, right next to the theater (Johnny Rockets,
Chilis).
