TRAIL RUN ON SUNDAY (12/9), 8:30am, LAIR O'THE BEAR PARK
Join us Sunday morning for a trail run at Lair o'The Bear Park.
Meet at 8:30am. After the run comes the important part - Food!
We'll likely go to TnT's Country Kitchen, in Morrison. Whether you
opt for late breakfast or early lunch, it's very good, especially
after a winter run thru the forest.
From the main lot at Lair o' The Bear, we'll run on the Bear Creek
Trail as usual, toward Pence Park. You can go for as long or short
as you want, since it's an out-and-back route. The first 1.2 miles
provides a flat warmup, through a narrow and scenic section of the
canyon along Bear Creek. Then the trail climbs moderately thru the
pines and firs for the next 1.4 miles. At that point some might
choose to turn around, while others will continue onward as the
singletrack rolls across several forested drainages, then across a
meadow, and up to Pence Park.
At the beginning of the run we'll try to form groups based on the
distance and pace you have in mind. Total trail distance from the
Lair parking lot to the Pence parking lot is about 6.2 miles, so
you're looking at a 20k run in total if you choose to go all the way
to Pence Park. Some might go that far, but many will turn around
well before Pence.
