Hello fellow runners.

This summer I had the opportunity to ride across Iowa with the Lance Armstrong Foundation during RAGBRAI. The memories I have will stay with me for a long time to come. It was great to share stories and see the power of Team LiveStrong along the way and how it moved people both physically and emotionally. One of the best moments for me came after the ride was over and I was able to sit down with my father and re-live my week with him. My father is a proud man and to see him tear up and tell me how proud he was of what I had done will be a feeling I never forget. How cool is it to have a father tell a son he is proud of him.

Unfortunately over the past couple of months his health declined and on October 4, 2007 lost his 6 year battle with prostate cancer. Speaking at his memorial service was one of the hardest things for me to do, but after the service I had several people tell me what an inspiration and motivating force my father was in not only his own battle, but with others he met along the way and encourage them to LiveStrong.

I was lucky to have spent time with him before he passed where he continued to teach me the lessons of life and never once did I hear him complain or say "why me". It is that strength and passion for life that made me promise to continue his fight against cancer on his behalf.

RAGBRAI was only the start for me. I hope to bring the same passion for life my father had with me as I run the NY City Marathon this year with as a member of the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

This is why I am asking for you help in reaching my goal as I run in memory of my father and all those who have passed or are fighting the battle against cancer. Please click the link below to find out more.

If anyone is also running this year and would like to share the cost of a hotel room please let me know.

Sincerely,
Chris Voeller
