THURSDAY RUN
Run Location: O'Fallon Park. The main group will start at 6:15pm; the
early group at 5:30pm.
Parking notes: Drive down the dirt road from hwy 74. You'll see a
concrete bridge on the right. That's where we're going to meet to
start the run. Park in the following order:
1) Just past the bridge, where the road curves left.
2) Cross the bridge to the right, and park by the bathrooms and picnic
tables.
3) Before the bridge, there's a small parking area on the right.
4) Follow the road past the bridge, and around the curve to the left,
to the lower parking area.
Run notes: We're going to try this in the reverse direction from
what's listed on the site, and what we did last time. People didn't
like the steep downhill at the end last time, on the Picnic Loop
trail. Instead, we'll start up that direction, and return via the
lower Meadow View trail. You might want to print and bring a copy of the map
with you.
Start for All: From across the concrete bridge, start up the steep
hill to the Picnic Loop. Take either side of the loop. The left side
is shorter. Continue up, staying right at the West Ridge Loop, to the
Bear Creek trail, at junction 7. Go right on Bear Creek, up to Meyers
Gulch Rd. and Pence Park. Cross the road for a bathroom break if you
want. Turn around and head back down the Bear Creek trail.
Short: Stay right at junction 7, on the Bear Creek trail, around to
junction 5. Take either left. If you take the sharper left, West
Ridge, as it parallels the other left, Bear Creek, stay right at the
next junction until it meets Bear Creek again. Continue down to
junction 1. Then, go left down the Meadow View trail to the lower lot.
Intermediate: Stay right at junction 7, on the Bear Creek trail,
around to junction 5. Go right on Meadow View, over the hill, down to
junction 4. Stay left, down the steep trail, to junction 2, at the
Bear Creek trail. Then, you can either take a right and quick left, or
left and quick right; either way, as long as you end up on the Meadow
View trail. Follow Meadow View down to the lower lot.
Long: Stay right at junction 7, on the Bear Creek trail, around to
junction 5. Go right on Meadow View, over the hill, down to junction
4. Go right, up and over another hill. You'll come down a steep,
grassy trail, to junction 3, and the Bear Creek trail. Go left on the
Bear Creek trail for almost a mile. Take the next two rights onto the
Meadow View trail, and continue down to the lower lot.
Finish for All: If you didn't park in the lower dirt lot, go left from
there, up the road, about 200 yards, back to the start.
Tentative schedule:
9/20; Lookout/Chimney Gulch. Party/potluck at Gayle & Rueben's, in
Golden, after the run.
9/27; South Valley park
10/4; Hogback/Matthews Winters. 6PM start
10/11; South Table Mtn.
10/18; Bear Creek Lake Park

COLO RELAY
Steve Fossel writes:
"I recently joined a team for the Colorado relay
http://www.coloradorelay.com/ We now need two more people for the
team. It is a mixed co-ed team that has done the race the last 4
years with abilities ranging from 6min to 10min pace runners. Could
you ask your DTR members if any of them are interested? They can
either contact me, at slfossel@... phone 303-674-8680 or the team
captain Lawrence Hass lehass1@... phone 720-535-5915."
