THURSDAY RUN
Rick and Christine had to cancel the party. We may have a run,
depending on the weather.

Location: Bear Creek Lake Park (BCLP).

Time: The early group meets at 5:30pm. The main group will start
at 6:15pm.

Run notes: BCLP gives us the option of running either the paved
road/bike path, or dirt trails, depending on conditions and the
group's wishes. The trails are usually very run-able in snow and ice.

Weather notes: I am aware of the forecast. However, there is still
some variability in the various forecast models as to when the heavy
snow will start. The run will be cancelled if the snow and wind start
by sunset, and, especially, if there's any indication that the roads
will become bad by the evening. Consider what the roads might be like
at 7:30pm, after the run, not just how they look in the afternoon.
It's not worth risking an accident just to run. If you're uncertain,
call my cell phone late Thursday afternoon, 303-870-0487.

Alternate directions: If coming from the N, to avoid congestion on
C470, stay on I70 (or hwy 6 to I70) W to the Red Rocks exit, #259. Go
S from the exit (L from Denver, R from Evergreen), down the hill, past
Red Rocks, ~2mi, to Morrison. Turn left at the T-intersection/light in
Morrison. In ~1/3mi, just before C-470, turn left onto Rooney Rd, then
an immediate right into the dirt lot.

If you are new to DTR, or unfamiliar with the trails, directions or
ratings, please follow the link below to maps, route descriptions,
driving directions, FAQs, and other information.

WEEKEND SNOWSHOE
Depending on when the snow stops, and how bad the roads get, we'll try
to get together for a group snowshoe outing this weekend, either
Saturday or Sunday. If the snowfall is big, we will go somewhere
close, possibly Green Mtn, Falcon, or Deer Creek. Check for a later
posting, or call me on Saturday.

OTHER GROUPS

SATURDAY EVERGREEN
The Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) holds FREE runs every Saturday,
8:30am, on trails, in the Evergreen area. Several DTR regulars join
these runs. The ERC runs are typically about 60 minutes long. They
usually go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. Please forward your
questions to Dave via the ERC link below. For more info about the ERC
schedules, go to: http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Lodge/7018/index.html
Schedule:
12/30: Upper Bear Creek Rd., 5 mi mark
1/6: Golden Watershed
1/13: Chief Hosa

SUNDAY GOLDEN
Golden weekend runs are Sundays at 7:30 a.m. Meet outside Brooks
Field, CSM Stadium, on 12th Street in Golden, and run on one of six or
more different routes in the Golden area. All of the courses allow for
varying lengths (e.g. 6-14+ miles) and paces, depending on the
interests of the runners on that day. For further information contact
Ron Benioff at rnbenioff@... 303-279-6152.

The BoulderTrailRunners has several free weekly group runs.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BoulderTrailRunners

The Incline Club meets every Sunday for runs in the Pikes Peak area.
They stay on lower trails through the winter, then move higher up the
mountain as the snow clears. Let us know if you are interested in
car-pooling from the Denver area. http://www.inclineclub.com

Interested in another weekday or weekend group run? Pick a time and
place, and we'll post it to the group.

CARPOOLS
Looking to carpool to a race? Let us know and we'll post it to the group.

FEATURED RACES
*2/25; Run the Register Stair Climb
Denver Trail Runners is putting together teams for the race. The race
is up 47 floors, 1,014 steps, in the "Cash Register" building (Wells
Fargo Center), downtown Denver.

Justin has set up a Denver Trail Runners team. If there is enough
interest, we can set up a separate women's team, and additional DTR
teams. Please let me know if you are interested in setting up
additional teams. Otherwise, join the DenverTrailRunners team when you
sign up.

Running up 47 floors is a bit longer than running a mile, and a lot
harder. Last year's winning time was 6:10 men, 6:41 women. If you can
run 1 mile faster than about 6:50, you should sign up in the "elite"
category. That allows you to start early, so you won't have to fight
your way around lots of slower walkers.

More to come later.
