Sunday long run - Mesa Trail, boulder   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #644 of 1485 |
Join us for a long run, this Sunday, on the Mesa Trail, in Boulder.

We will start from Chautauqua Park, at the N end. The run is
out-and-back, so you can go as short or long as you like. Some of us
may take side trails that climb to the top of the flatirons. We'll run
for about 2-3 hours. Bring water.

There will be two meeting/carpool locations, both at 7:30am.

From the W side of town, meet at the Loaf n Jug in Golden. From the
intersection of hwys 6, 58 & 93 in Golden, go north on hwy 93 towards
Boulder. After 3/4mi, turn right at the first right, Iowa, then take
the first left. There's parking just past the Loaf n Jug.

From Denver, meet at the park-n-ride lot, at 70th & Broadway, near the
I25, US36, I76 junctions. From the S, via I25, 70th avenue exit, same
as the I-76 West exit, #216B. Turn left on 70th for one block. From
the east, take hwy 270, to US36, to the Broadway (first) exit. Go left
one block.

If you miss us at the above locations, meet us at Chautauqua at
8:15am. Meet by the ranger/info building, just off the start of the trail.

Take US 36 towards Boulder. Take the Baseline exit, the last exit
before 28th. Go left, towards the hills, about 1.3mi. Enter Chautauqua
park on the left. If the lot is full, parking is available on the
surrounding streets.

From Golden, take hwy 93 N towards Boulder. Turn left at Baseline, and
go about 1mi.

The Mesa Trail is very popular in Boulder. It runs ~6.5mi along the
base of the flatirons, from Eldorado Springs to Chautauqua Park, with
several access points, and connections to many other trails and parks.
The trail is a series of rolling ups and downs, some steep, with a mix
of smooth and technical terrain. Much of the trail is forested, so it
can be wet or icy over the winter. The trails are well signed. Dogs
are allowed, but not bikes. There's water and bathrooms at Chautauqua,
bathrooms only at Eldorado.
