In this week's message:
+ Thursday run: Full Moon at Chief Hosa
+ Weekend groups: Sat Evergreen Runners Circle, Sun Golden
+ Incline Club Sunday runs
+ Boulder Running Company Holiday Open House
+ Carpools and group trips: Chilly Hilly, Kilimanjaro Marathon
+ Trail Races, clinics and other upcoming events. NEW EVENTS ADDED

This Thursday's run will be a full moon run at Chief Hosa. We will
start at 6:15.

This will be a social run on an easy course (P=2, T=1-2, N=1-2). If
the skies are clear, there are great views of the city.

Directions: Take I70 to the Chief Hosa exit, #253. It's the exit
between Genesee (buffalo overlook) and the Evergreen Parkway. Go
south, left from Denver, across the highway. Go left on the dirt road.
Go ~50 yards and park on the dirt road near the "Y".

IT'S REALLY NOT THAT FAR! Even though it's up the hill, it takes the
same or less time to get to than Mt. Falcon, Lookout, and North Table.
It's only 6 mi up I70 from the Morrison/Red Rocks exit.

I may need a ride home after dinner. Can anyone take me to the Park Hill area,
near Colorado & Colfax?

Route: Easy to follow. We'll stay fairly close together, and regroup
at all key spots.
+ Start up the right side of the Y. It's a smooth, dirt road, always
plowed, with a gentle to moderate climb.
+ About ¾ mi up, there's a 3-way junction. Remember this for the way down.
+ Stay right and continue up the dirt road.
+ After ~2mi, you hit a paved road. Make a sharp left and continue up.
+ In another ¼ mi, there's a chain across the road. Continue around
the chain.
+ The last mile, from there, is an un-maintained dirt road, which will
likely have some snow and ice.
+ Follow the road up and around to the flagpole at the top.
+ If you're not comfortable running on the snow, go to the parking lot
on the right, and check out the views.

+ Return the same way, with a longer option available.
+ Remember to make a right, back onto the dirt road, ¼ mi past the chain.
+ Look for the 3-way junction ~1/5mi down.
+ Stay left for the shorter way down, the same way we came up. It's
easy to end up going the long way if you don't pay attention.
+ Taking the long way, to the right, the dirt road drops steeply.
+ Then, just before I70, follow the road to the left. This climbs up a
bit, then takes you back to the Y.
+ It's about ¾ mi longer.

Our annual holiday run is planned for Dec 22. I'm looking for
alternate locations/ideas. In the past, we've done a casual "xmas
lights" run, through the neighborhoods around Wash Park, checking out
the decorated houses. Then, we've gathered for dinner as Las
Margaritas, nearby.

The Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) holds FREE runs every Saturday,
8:30am, on trails, in the Evergreen area. Several DTR regulars join
these runs. The ERC runs are typically about 60 minutes long. They
usually go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. Please forward your
questions to Dave via the ERC link below. For more info about the ERC
schedules, go to: http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Lodge/7018/index.html
Schedule:
12/17: Upper Bear Creek. Start at mile marker 5.
12/24: Evergreen Lake House. (Merry Christmas everyone!)
12/31: Elk Meadow. UPPER lot off of Stagecoach.

Golden weekend runs are Sundays at 7:30 a.m. Meet outside Brooks
Field, CSM Stadium, on 12th Street in Golden, and run on one of six or
more different routes in the Golden area. All of the courses allow
for varying lengths (e.g. 6-14+ miles) and paces, depending on the
interests of the runners on that day. For further information contact
Ron Benioff at rnbenioff@..., 303-279-6152.

On Wed, Dec 21, The Boulder Running Company store, in Littleton, is
holding their annual holiday open house, and celebrating the opening
of their new, expanded store. The evening starts with an optional
group run at 6pm. There will be hourly prize drawings, storewide
discounts, food and drink, until 9pm. BRC is located at the SE corner
of Wadsworth & Bowles, next to their old store, near the Barnes and Noble.

The Incline Club holds long runs on Sundays, around the Pike Peak
area. They stay fairly low over the winter, then gradually venture up
higher as the trails dry, in the spring. There is a large turnout,
often >100 people, even over the winter, with a wide range of
abilities. For more info, go to http://www.inclineclub.com

If you are interested in carpooling down to these runs, contact me and
I will share your e-mail address with others who are also interested.

The ChillyHilly is a 5-race, 2-day, trail event, near Bloomington, IN,
on Jan 21-22. It starts with a 10k run on Sat afternoon, then a 4mi
run that night. On Sunday, there's a 5km, 10mi, and 1mi run, all
before noon. Housing (Sat night) and meals are included in the entry.
You can do it as an individual, or relay. We will fly out Friday
afternoon or evening, and return Sunday night.

We need to make plans soon. There are some good airfare prices now,
that won't last. Contact me if interested, adam@....

Jim Romero is looking for anyone interested in joining him/group this
coming Feb 2006 to run the Kilimanjaro marathon. He would be
interested in people looking to run the marathon, and/or do a safari,
and/or climb the mighty Kilimanjaro after the marathon.
