Thanks to Dan for hosting the party, and for everyone who showed up
and brought food/drink to share. It was a good time, and a good
opportunity to take time to get to know the other runners. We will
have another party sometime in December.

Dan has two hot pads that were left. He'll bring them to the Thursday
run. Or, contact me and we'll figure out how to get them to you.

This Thursday's run is at Bear Creek Lake Park. The main group will
start at 6:00pm. The early group usually starts around 5:30pm. This is
the last run before the end of daylight savings time.

We will do much of this run in the dark. Sunset-6:05pm; End Civil
Twilight-6:32pm. If you don't have a good light, you can stick to the
park roads and bike paths. See the message posted 10/13.

There are various road and trail options. We will run the park roads
and bike paths if it is wet. If you are new to this location, please
read and bring the map and route descriptions. The group should
discuss which route(s) they will take at the start. Some of you may
want to consider starting on some of the single track trails, north of
the main road, while it's still light out.

Tentative schedule:
11/3: Somewhere near South Valley Park, in the valley.

Next full moon run: 11/15, Wed, location TBA

If you are new to this trail, or to DTR, please follow the link below
to maps, route descriptions, driving directions, FAQs, and other
information.

The Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) holds FREE runs every Saturday,
8:30am, on trails, in the Evergreen area. Several DTR regulars join
these runs. The ERC runs are typically about 60 minutes long. They
usually go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. Please forward your
questions to Dave via the ERC link below. For more info about the ERC
schedules, go to: http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Lodge/7018/index.html
Schedule:
10/29: Evergreen Lakehouse
11/5: Genesee Rec. Center; meet at Genesee Park-n-Ride

A new Golden Running Club is starting with 10-14 mile runs every
Saturday morning. Meet at 6:30 a.m. outside Brook's Field (Colorado
School of Mines Stadium). They will run 6 different routes around
Golden, mostly on trails. We will divide into groups by pace and
distance as necessary. For further information contact Ron Benioff at
303-279-6152 (h), 303-384-7504 (w), rnbenioff@....

The annual Boulder Basic Mountain Marathon (BBMM) is this Saturday.
It's a FREE, underground, very unofficial event. In other words, no
fee, no awards, no timing, maybe no aid stations (maybe one or two,
with just water), no flyers, etc. Note that Boulder Open Space does
not allow any races on their trails, and strongly frowns upon large
groups. They try to stay under the Boulder OS radar. It's officially
just a training run, even though some people may race it.

There are usually various distances available, up to about a marathon.
There may be maps, and there should be plenty of people familiar with
the trails/routes to run with. However, be prepared to run on your own.

The BBMM is this Saturday, 9am. Start/Finish/Party is at 10th &
Cascade, in Boulder, one block below Chautauqua Park. From Denver,
take hwy 36 to Boulder. Take the Baseline Rd exit, the last exit
before the end of the freeway. Go left for ~1.2mi to 10th. Turn right
onto 10th. From Golden, Evergreen, and the west side, take hwy 93 N
from Golden, ~18mi. In Boulder, turn left onto Baseline. Turn right
onto 10th.

I'd like to get a contingent of DTR people up to join the
BoulderTrailRunners group. Let me know if you are interested in
carpooling.

Kyle Stone writes: "Hello...My name is Kyle Stone and I am a graduate
student who is also an active ultrarunner in the Front Range. This
semester I am participating in a class that is focused on the
introduction to research methods. As part of our assignment, I have
chosen to research the difference between those who have successfully
completed a 100-mile ultramarathon race and those who have not.

As part of the research study, I have created a survey that will aid
in the collection of data that will attempt to highlight the
characteristics of the 100-mile ultrarunner.

If you have participated in a 100-mile ultramarathon race and would
like to participate in the study, please go the following web site to
find the survey. The survey will close by November 7, 2005.

http://www.questionpro.com/akira/TakeSurvey?id=296467

Upon completion of the research paper, with permission, I plan on
making the findings public to the Denver Trail Runners user group.
Thank you for participating in the advancement of ultrarmarathons and
the people who suffer through them. Should you have any questions,
please feel free to e-mail me:
kbstone13@...

Thanks again...see you on the trails...

Kyle Stone

p.s. The survey only takes about 5 to 8 minutes !!"

On Jan 21-22, there's a 5-race, 2-day, trail event, near Bloomington,
IN. Indiana in January? Not my first thought either. However, this
looks really interesting.

The ChillyHilly is 5 trail races, of various distances, over 20 hours.
It starts with a 10k run on Sat afternoon, then a 4mi run that night.
On Sunday, there's a 5km, 10mi, and 1mi run, all before noon. Housing
(Sat night) and meals are included in the entry. You can do it as an
individual, or relay.

I am seriously considering going. It would be fun to go with a group.
Contact me if interested, adam@runuphillracing

Interested in carpooling or group road trips to the following races?
This can include carpooling, sharing rooms, and a group dinner.

11/12. Rim Rock Run. This is one of the classic runs in the state. The
37km (~23mi) course travels through the incredibly scenic Colo Natl
Monument. It's a road race, but has over 1,700' of climbing.
