If you ran Imogene, you probably know that there were problems with
the results and other aspects of the race. I strongly encourage
everyone to contact the race dir and timing company about the results
and other problems. Especially:
The posted times are incorrect are incorrect for almost everyone (they
also didn't have results ready for the awards). They list my time 44
seconds faster than what was on my watch, and on the large display
clock. Another example is that they show Lisa Goldsmith breaking the
masters course record, when I think she just missed it. I don't want
credit for anything I didn't earn.
The timing company told me they had a "perfect storm" of errors: 3
computer and 2 USB port failures, and the finish line only read ~50%
of the times. The times they used were from a feed 100' before the
finish (it doesn't take me 44 sec to run 100') or from a handheld
backup. They said that they would adjust my time, but I'm not sure how
they could do that without changing my finishing place, or without
adjusting everyone else's time. I've managed enough races to know that
there are some very simple things - that they didn't do - to ensure
more accurate results if the primary systems fail, even if it takes
more time.
Even if you don't care about your time, there are enough other people
who do. The more people who contact them, the more likely that the
times will be corrected.
Please e-mail them with your watch time, bib#, and the time posted in
the results. You don't need to complain - they already know they
screwed up.
The e-mail addresses to send your comments are:
John Jett, Race Dir, staff@...
James 'Mac' Read, Milliseconds Timing, mac@...
If you have other comments, please let them know too. For example, the
porta-potties weren't delivered to the start. Yet, they didn't delay
the start. I wonder how many people were still waiting to use the two
bathrooms, or didn't have a chance to go before the start.
As a race director, feedback is essential to help me improve my races.
With a large race and entrenched board, it may take a large number of
voices to be heard. So, let them know what you think. Please keep the
comments to specific issues and suggestions, and avoid personal attacks.
Thanks
