This Thursday's run is at Lair 'O The Bear Park (T=2-3, P=3)**. The
main group will start at 6:20pm sharp. A smaller, informal group
usually starts around 5:30pm; look for Scott, Ray, Connie or Kim.
This is a great run for newcomers because the trail is easy to
follow. It's an out-and-back so you can go as short or long as you
want. It is not too hilly (please refer to the TPN scale at the
bottom). The picnic is a great way to meet the other runners.
Picnic: The potluck picnic will immediately follow the run. Meet at
the picnic tables by the start of the trail, by 7:30pm. Everyone is
welcome to join us, even if you can't bring any food. There is always
extra. What to bring? Here are a few suggestions: fruit, salads,
rice/pasta dishes, chips, salsa, cookies, beer/wine, sodas. Connie
will be providing plates, forks, spoons, cups, napkins, etc. The goal
is to have some fun, meet others while you're not running, share
stories of recent past races (e.g., Leadville, Pikes), and talk about
upcoming fall races. Bring some warm, dry clothes to change into after the run.
Directions: Take C-470 to the Morrison exit, hwy 74. Go west, through
Morrison, and continue about 4.5mi to the park entrance on the left.
Meet at the far, west end of the lot. To avoid the typical traffic
slowdown on C-470, between I-70 and Morrison, stay on I-70 west, past
C-470, to the next exit, Red Rocks, #259. Go left at the light, under
the highway, and down the hill ~3mi to Morrison. There is a concert
at Red Rocks that night that may cause some traffic delays too.
Route: Head west on the Creekside trail from the lot. Follows the
creek, up the canyon, for about 1 mile. Look for the Bear Creek singe-
track trail coming in from behind you on the left. If you get to the
chain across the trail, or hwy 74, you've gone too far. It's about
100' before the chain. A couple of miles up, it crosses a few other
trails. Feel free to explore. Remember to stay on the Bear Creek
Trail to get back to Lair. Follow the Bear Creek Trail out as far as
you want to go, then return the same way. The run is about an hour,
it's generally downhill and faster on the return, so you should turn
around after about 30-35 minutes.

Schedule:
I'll take input at the picnic.

Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) run is at Elk Meadow, lower
lot (T=3, P=2-5, N=2)**.
http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/ext/dpt/comm_res/openspac/elk.htm
Take the Evergreen Parkway, hwy 74, exit 252 from I-70. Continue
through Bergen Park ~4.5 mi. Just after you pass Elk Meadow on your
right, turn right at the light at the bottom of the hill, turn right
onto Lewis Ridge Rd., then an immediate right into the dirt lot.
The ERC runs are usually 60-90 minutes long. Occasionally, some
people will start early, or run longer, to get in more mileage. They
usually go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. Several of us do the
ERC runs, but I don't organize them. Please forward your questions to
Dave via the ERC link below. For more info about the ERC schedules,
