(T=2-3, P=3, N=2-3)**
+ Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle run: Elk Meadow, lower lot (T=3,
P=2-5, N=2)
+ Races, clinics and other upcoming events
+ Trail Running 101 Clinic
+ Tim Erickson long run, 6/12
This Thursday is a run and potluck picnic at Lair 'O The Bear Park
(T=2-3, P=3, N=2-3)**. The main group will start at 6:30pm sharp. A
smaller group usually starts around 5:30pm; look for Scott, Ray, Connie
or Kim.
The potluck will start after the run, around 7:30-7:40pm. If you start
the run early or late, please finish in time for the picnic.
Everyone is invited to the picnic. Feel free to bring kids, spouses and
friends. Please bring something to eat or drink, something to eat/drink
on/with, and a little extra to share with others. People have brought
things like wine, beer, chips, brownies, and pasta salad - be creative.
I'll bring an ice chest to keep things cool while we're running. I'll
also bring some utensils left over from last year's picnics. If you
can't bring anything, please join us anyway. There's always extra. This
is a great chance to get to know the other runners in a casual setting.
Directions: Take C-470 to the Morrison exit, hwy 74. Go west, through
Morrison, and continue about 4.5mi to the park entrance on the left.
Meet at the far, west end of the lot. It's only about 10 minutes from
Morrison.
Route: From the west end of the lot, head west on the Creekside trail.
The trail follows the creek, up the canyon, for about 0.9 mile. Look
for a singe-track trail coming in from behind you on the left. If you
get to the chain across the trail, or hwy 74, you've gone too far. It's
about 100' before the chain. Follow the Bear Creek Trail out and back
as far as you want to go. A couple of miles up, it crosses a few other
trails. Feel free to explore, but remember to take the Bear Creek Trail
to get back to Lair. See the inset map on the link below.

Meet at the park-n-ride lot, on the north side of I-70, at the Genesee
exit (#254), by the buffalo overlook.
The ERC runs are usually 60-90 minutes long. Occasionally, some people

go out for coffee/breakfast after the run. Several of us do the ERC
runs, but I don't organize them. Please forward your questions to Dave
via the link below ERC. For more info about the ERC schedules, go to:

* I am offering one more Trail Running 101 clinic on Sunday, June 6.
Any energy that doesn't go into propelling you forward is wasted and
can lead to injuries. Everyone has flaws in their running form. Trails
magnify those flaws. In the clinic, I teach you how to run more
efficiently uphill, downhill, and over rocky terrain.

Tim Erickson writes:
"My next training run will be the West Lost Creek Loop on June 12. It
is about 30 miles with 6500' of climb and travels through forests,
meadows, alpine tundra, and deep canyons. The low point is about 8000'
and the high point is about 11,900'.
Interested runners can contact me at EricksonZoo@... or
tim.erickson@.... Be sure to put "Interested in the
West Lost Creek Loop" in the subject. Or they can call me at
720-280-0465."

** Trail Rating - 1-5 scale, 1 being the easiest.
T = technical difficulty (rocks, narrow, curves, etc.)
P = physical difficulty (length, steepness and number of climbs)
N = navigational difficulty (ease of following the routes)
