+ Thursday evening run: Red Rocks (T=2, P=3, N=2)**
+ Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle run: O'Fallon Park (T=2, P=3)**
+ Races, clinics and other upcoming events
+ Other weekend outings and carpool opportunities
This Thursday's run is at Red Rocks (trail rating: T=3, P=3, N=2)**.
The main group will start at 6:15pm. A smaller group usually meets at
5:30pm; look for Scott, Ray, Connie or Kim.
We will meet here rain or shine. Run the trails if it's dry. Otherwise,
the roads are a good, hill workout.
Directions: Meet at Trading Post, just below the ampitheatre at Red
Rocks. From C470, take the Morrison exit. Head west, through the town
of Morrison. Go past the traffic light at hwy 8. Take the next right
and follow the signs to the Trading Post. From I-70 (from central
Denver, take hwy 6 to I-70), take the Red Rocks exit, #259. Go south,
about 1 mile down the hill. Turn right into Red Rocks and follow the
signs to the Trading Post.
Trail route: Follow the purple line on attached. Head up the hill from
the Trading Post. At the 3-WAY intersection, all but the slowed runners
should go sharp right, down the hill on the single track. The slower
runners should go right on the road. The trail comes back to the road
at D2. From there, road runners should go left, trail runners should
cross the road, and take the trail up into Matthews Winters. At the
trail junction, ~2/3 mi up, go left for a longer, steeper climb; stay
right to avoid additional climbing. The trails merge at the north side
of the plateau. Continue north on the trails for a bit to add more
distance. Turn around and return along the lower route. When you are
back at the road, D2, you can either cross and take the trail back, or
go right and stick to the roads.
Road route: Follow the yellow line on attached. Starting at the Trading
Post (TP), facing up the hill towards the ampitheatre, take an
immediate left. After a short rise, this road winds down hill for about
3/4 mi. At the road junction (B), make a sharp left and head up the
road to the next junction (L). The first time through, stay straight on
the road to the next junction with a dirt road (D1). Go left up the
dirt road to the next paved road (D2). Go left up the paved road. At
the 3-way junction (3-WAY), go left and return to the Trading Post.
This loop is only ~3.4mi. There are several ways to add more.
Slower runners should repeat either the upper (~1.9mi) or lower (2.1mi)
part of the loop. To repeat the lower half (TP-B-L-TP), go right when
returning to the TP like the start of the first loop. At junction "L"
the 2nd time, go left up the hill to the finish. For the upper loop
(TP-L-D1-D2-3WAY-TP), at TP, stay straight on the road down to "L".
Then, go left to D1, and repeat the upper part to the finish.
Intermediate runners should repeat the entire loop again
(TP-B-L-D1-D2-3WAY-TP).
Faster runners should repeat the loop, and add more by doing the red
course on either or both of the loops. From 3-WAY junction, stay right.
After about 30 yards, go right again. Take the road up to and back from
the observation point (OBS). On the return, go right and run through
the tunnel to the upper lot (UL), then back to the 3-WAY, then right
back to TP. Additional distance for these extra legs are OBS-.7mi,
UL-.9mi, combined-1.5mi.

This Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) run is at O'Fallon Park
(T=2, P=3).** The run starts at 8:30am sharp.
Take the Evergreen Parkway exit, hwy 74, #252, from I-70, to the main
light in Evergreen, just below the dam. Go south (right if coming from
I-70) on hwy 73 towards Conifer. Make the first right, about 3/4 mile
up, on Buffalo Park Rd. Continue up the hill, past the high school,
past the lower Alderfer lots, to the open meadows at the top. Park in
the dirt lot on the right, just past the yellow house. Take C-470 to
the Morrison exit, hwy 74. Go west, through Morrison, and continue
about 6mi to Kittredge. The park entrance is on the left, shortly
before the intersection with Meyers Gulch Road.
The ERC runs are usually 60-90 minutes long. Occasionally, some people
will start early, or run longer, to get in more mileage. They usually
go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. Several of us do the ERC runs,
but I don't organize them. Please forward your questions to Dave via
the link below ERC. For more info about the ERC schedules, go to:
