+ Thursday evening run: Green Mtn., Rooney Road lot (T=3, P=2-4; N=3)**
+ Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle run: Beaver Brook Trail, Genesee
(T=4, P=3, N=4)**
+ Races, clinics and other upcoming events
+ Other weekend outings and carpool opportunities

This Thursday's run is at Green Mtn., Rooney Road lot (T=3, P=2-4;
N=3)**. The main group will start at 6:15pm. A smaller group usually
meets at 5:30pm; look for Scott, Ray, Connie or Kim.

Directions: From Denver, take 6th ave to I-70, and continue to the Red
Rocks/Morrison/Golden exit, #259. Go south ~1mi towards Red Rocks. Turn
left and take the road over the hog back. At the bottom of the hill,
before crossing over C-470, turn left on to Rooney Rd. The lot is about
1/2 mile up on the right. Note: ROONEY RD IS CLOSED BETWEEN COLFAX/US40
AND THE LOT.

From the north, take 93 south to hwy 6 south through Golden. Turn right
onto Heritage Rd, the first right after Lookout Mtn. At the end of
Heritage, turn right onto US 40, up the hill, to I70. Continue under
I-70 and follow the directions above.

From the south, take C-470 to Morrison Rd. Go west, then take the first
right on Rooney Road, before you enter Morrison, by the Conoco station.
About 2.5 miles up, the road ends at Alameda. Go left, cross over
C-470, then take the next right onto Rooney Road again. The lot is
about 1/2 mile up on the right.

From DTC: there are several ways west. At the south end, you can take
C-470. From the north end, you can take I-25 to hwy 6th. A good
alternative is to take Belleview west to Santa Fe; go north to Hampden;
then west on 285 to C-470.

Route (see attached): There are several options. Please choose the
appropriate route for your speed to finish in about 1:00.

Start by taking the pedestrian bridge over C-470. Take the far right
dirt trail. Follow the trail around the south side of the mountain.

There's a junction in ~0.75mi (GM1). Go right (left takes you back to
the start; straight climbs up) and continue around the mountain. The
trail takes you next to a small lot and the road at ~1.8mi. There's
another trail heading up at ~2.25mi (GM2). You'll see (in the daylight)
a fence on the left, up the hill. Do not go left here. Continue to the
next junction, the Utah trail, ~3mi (UTAH). This is the first option.

Option 1A: Slow and medium runners should go left here, or see 1C
below. Go up for ½mi then go left at the trail junction (GM5). Go up
the trail another 1mi to the service road (GM6). Go left and continue
to option 5.

1B: Faster runners should continue straight and continue around to the
Florida lot (FLA).

1C: If you want to avoid any big climbs, continue to the Florida lot,
or until you've been out 30-35 min, then return the same way.

Option 2A: At the large, dirt, Florida lot (FLA), go left onto the
single track at the north end of the lot. It merges with 2B about ½mi
up, at a 90 degree left turn. Continue up to option 3.

2B: Go straight through the north end of the lot for ~¼mi. Go left up
the next trail. It merges with 2A.

Above the next rise after 2A&B merge, there's a single track on the
left (GM4).

Option 3A: Go left on the single track. After ~0.3mi, go right at the
junction onto the Utah trail (GM5). Continue another 1mi up to the
service road. Go left, then continue to option 5.

3B: Continue climbing up the ridge to the towers. This is a couple of
minutes shorter than 3A, unless you take 4B.

Option 4A: Go left at the towers and follow the service road another
mile, over the top of Green Mtn, to option 5.

4B: Go right at the towers and start down the ridge for about 50 yards.
Go left onto a single track. This parallels the service road heading
NW. Merge back up to the service road. Go right and continue to option
5.

Option 5A: (GM7) The service road takes a sharp, left turn and heads
down steeply. Stay on the road. It's about another mile to the finish.

5B: Stay straight onto a single track. After ¼mi, Go left onto a single
track (GM8). This rocky trail winds its way down the side of the
mountain. After ~1mi, go left at the saddle down a steep trail. This
goes over a couple of rises, then merges back with the service road. Go
right and continue another 0.4mi to the finish. 5B is ~.75mi longer
than 5A.

Regrouping places for slow and intermediate runners: UTAH and the
service road GM6. For faster runners, at the Florida lot FLA.

This Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) run is at Beaver Brook
Trail, Genesee (T=4, P=3, N=4).** The run starts at 8:30am sharp.

Meet at the park-n-ride lot, on the north side of I-70, at the Genesee
exit (#254), by the buffalo overlook.

The ERC runs are usually 60-90 minutes long. Occasionally, some people
will start early, or run longer, to get in more mileage. They usually
go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. Several of us do the ERC runs,
but I don't organize them. Please forward your questions to Dave via
the link below ERC. For more info about the ERC schedules, go to:
