There WILL be race day registration for the Golden Gate Canyon Trail
Run tomorrow, Sunday, August 3.
Race-day registration is $28. Registration closes at 8:15am. The race
starts at 8:30 am. PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY! Parking is limited.
The course is 10 miles, with 2,000'+ of climbing. There is a mix of
smooth and technical trails, about 1mi of a dirt road, some steep
climbs and descents, and a grueling 600'+ climb/scramble in about 2/3
mi that comes after 6.5 miles. You'll be running through aspen and pine
forests. There are some great views of the continental divide and more,
from Mt. Evans to Longs Peak.
Directions: Parking is extremely limited. Please follow officials'
directions for parking at the race. ARRIVE EARLY!
Take I-70 west to hwy 58 west to Golden. Or, take C-470 west to hwy 6
west. Or, take 6th ave west to Golden. From the junctions of hwys 6, 58
and 93 in Golden, go 1.3mi north on hwy 93 to Golden Gate Canyon. Go
west at the light. Go about 15mi up the canyon to Mountain Base Road.
Do not turn in at the Park's Visitors Entrance. Continue up the canyon
another 1.25mi to just past Kriley Pond. Turn right on Mountain Base
Road and continue up to the start.
From Boulder, take hwy 93 south towards Golden. Golden Gate Canyon is
1.75mi after 56th in Arvada. Turn right at Golden Gate Canyon and
follow the above directions.
Alternate from Boulder, via Nederland, take hwy 119 south about 10
miles from Nederland, about 5 miles from Rollinsville. Just south of
mile marker 16, turn left onto Gap Rd. Follow the signs to the park.
Turn right at Mountain Base Road to the start.
From Evergreen and points west, take I-70 to hwy 6, exit 244. Take hwy
6 to hwy 119. Turn left, go through Black Hawk, and continue to Golden
Gate Canyon Rd. Turn right for about 3 mi. Turn left at Mountain Base Road.
