We had a great turnout for last week's Mt. Falcon time trial. Andy
Bupp set the course record, blazing up the trail in 22:49. Results,

This Wednesday's morning run is at Red Rocks for a stair workout.
Meet at the TnT lot in Morrison at 5:45am, or at the ampitheatre at
6:00am. I often can't attend this workout. So, if you do show up and
would like to meet somewhere else in the future, please let me know.
TnT: Take C470 to the Morrison, hwy 74 exit. Go west into Morrison.
TnT is the last eatery on the left, shortly before the light at hwy 8.
Ampitheatre: From C470, take the Morrison exit. Head west, through
the town of Morrison. Go past the traffic light at hwy 8. Take the
next right and follow the signs to the Trading Post. From I-70, take
the Red Rocks exit, #259. Go south, about 1 mile down the hill. Turn
right into Red Rocks and follow the signs to the Trading Post.

This Thursday is a run and potluck picnic at Deer Creek Canyon Park
(T=3, P=4). We will run the Clockwise routes.
I plan to start with the main group at 6:15pm. We normally start a
little later at Deer Creek, since it is a farther drive for most.
Starting "on time" will give some of us a chance to run longer. If
you show up late, just start running and meet us at the end. If you
are there early and want to run farther, go ahead and start early.
Whenever you start, please try to be finished around 7:45pm. This
will give us enough time for the picnic. Sunset is at 8:21pm. The end
of "civil twilight" is at 8:52pm.
For the potluck, bring something to eat and drink, and to share with
others. Some of the things people have brought in the past: chips,
salsa, fruit/pasta salads, noodle/rice dishes, beer, wine, brownies,
cookies, pies. Also, please bring something to eat/drink with for
yourself: plate, plastic fork/spoon, cup, paper towel. If you forget
to bring something, don't worry. There is usually plenty of extra
food. Stick around and meet some of the other runners.
Note: The group runs are not intended to be races. Run as hard or
easy as you want. Please don't be intimidated. Everyone is welcome
regardless of ability. Everyone is welcome at the picnic.

This Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) run is at O'Fallon
Park (T=2, P=3) at 8:30am sharp. Take C-470 to the Morrison exit, hwy
74. Go west, through Morrison, and continue about 5mi to Kittredge.
The park entrance is on the left, shortly before the intersection
with Meyers Gulch Road.
The ERC runs are usually about an hour long. Sometimes a few people
will meet early or continue after the run to get in more mileage.
They usually go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. I don't lead
these runs, so please don't ask me the questions. For more info about
the ERC schedules, go to:

Several friends are in need of pacers and crew for the Leadville
Trail 100 mile run.
Pacing is accompanying the runner. They are allowed over the 2nd half
of the race. You carry food, water and clothing, make sure they are
eating and drinking, keep their spirits up, etc. You don't have to be
an ultra runner. A pacer can go anywhere from 10-50 miles. You don't
have to be that fast, or even a "runner." The runner will already
have gone 50 or more miles before you start. Most of the runners will
be walking most of the 2nd half of the course. And, when they are
running, only the fastest runners will be doing a 10min/mi pace on
flat ground. Anyone who is a strong hiker, can go through the night,
and can run a little, can pace.
Crewing is driving to and meeting the runner at the aid stations.
You'll carry shoes, clothing, lights, food, etc., and help them out
at the aid stations. Runners can use the aid station supplies and
leave drop bags at the aid stations the night before, but it's a lot
easier if they have a crew, and know someone will be meeting you
along the way.
The race starts 4am, Saturday, Aug 16, and continues into Sunday
morning.
If you are interested or want to learn more, please send me an e-mail
ASAP!

Several parents want to run with us but have to watch their kids. In
the past, some of them have arranged a rotating babysitting system
where one will watch the kids while the others run. I have gotten a
few names this year. If you are interested in this, send me your e-
mail. I will pass the addresses on to others who respond and let you
work it out.
If you've given me your name, please let me know if any of the
contacts I've given you have worked.

Every Sunday, the Incline Club meets to run in the Pikes Peak area.
It's a large group with wide range of abilities. The runs start at
8am sharp in Manitou Springs. The runs typically are 2-3.5 hours.
They have upwards of 100 runners with a wide range of abilities. Let
me know if you are interested in joining/forming a carpool, and what
part of town you will be coming from. For more info on these runs,
including a map and detailed description of this Sunday's route, go
to www.inclineclub.com.
Looking for company on a long weekend run? Want to carpool to a
mountain race, Incline Club run or other outing? Let me know and I'll
send out the word. Please send me specific information about where
and when you want people to meet, or how to contact you. Please try
to send me the information a week in advance so I have time to get it
into my weekly message. Don't wait for me to plan everything!
