This Wednesday's morning run is at Red Rocks at 6am. We will do some
stair repeats - great for building hip power and running up hills -
along with some trails. Meet at the trading Post.
From C470, take the Morrison exit. Head west, through the town of
Morrison. Go past the traffic light at hwy 8. Take the next right and
follow the signs to the Trading Post.
From I-70, take the Red Rocks exit, #259. Go south, about 1 mile down
the hill. Turn right into Red Rocks and follow the signs to the
Trading Post.

This Thursday's run is the Hogback/Matthews Winters (T=5, P=3). The
early group will meet at 5:30pm; look for Mike, Chris, Connie, Jim
and others. The main group will start at 6:15pm.
Take I-70 to exit 259. Go south about 150 yards and turn left into
the Stegosaurus lot.
Route: Head up the trail from the lot. Turn right at the gate and
follow the trail along the ridge to the south. Go down the stairs,
cross the road, go right, and pick up the trail on the other side.
Follow the trail down the east side of the hogback. Cross the road to
Morrison and enter Red Rocks. You aren't half way yet, and it's a
long climb back up to the start. If it's taken you more than 40
minutes to get to the road, you might want to go right and follow the
road straight up to the start. About 100 yards into Red Rocks, go
right onto the Red Rocks trail. Cross the dirt road, then the paved
road, then follow the trail up to Matthews Winters park. At the south
end, the trail splits. The Red Rocks trail to the right is shorter
and flatter. The Morrison Slide trail to the left is steeper and
longer, adding about 10 min, before rejoining the other trail.
Continue north on the trail. Take either trail at the "Y" at the
north end of Matthews Winters; the trail to the right is about 2 min
longer. Go out the Matthews Winters parking lot, cross the road, and
return to the Stegosaurus lot. The faster runners may take a more
circuitous route through Red Rocks. We'll stay on the road, skipping
the turn onto the Red Rocks trail. We'll go ~1/2mi past the dirt
road, then turn right on the paved road. Follow it up the hill, past
the Trading Post and Ampitheatre. Anyone want to run the stairs once
or twice as long as we're there? At the 3-way intersection at the
top, go right onto the single track. Follow the trail down, around
the curve to the left, until it merges with the Red Rocks trail.

This Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) run is at the
Evergreen Lake House at 8:30am sharp. Hopefully they can go up 3
Sisters, but if the snow is too deep, there are bike trails.
Take the Evergreen Parkway, hwy 74, exit 252 from I-70. Continue
through Bergen Park, past Elk Meadow, and down the hill to the lake.
At the bottom of the hill, just before the road turns left at the
lake, turn right onto Upper Bear Creek Rd. Go about 1/4 mile and turn
left into the parking lot.
The ERC runs are usually about an hour long. Sometimes a few people
will meet early or continue after the run to get in more mileage.
They usually go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. I don't lead
these runs, so please don't ask me the questions. For more info about
the ERC schedules, go to:
http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Lodge/7018/index.html
Upcoming ERC schedule:
April 19: Chief Hosa.
April 26: Elk Meadow, upper lot off of Stagecoach. Rather than
running in Elk Meadow, we will run to Upper Bear Creek Road and the
lake. Some nice trail back there we don't often use.
May 3: Beaver Brook trail, Genesee.
May 10: O'Fallon Park. Run to Lair of the Bear and back.
May 17: Elk Meadow, lower lot. First ascent of the year. Yup,
let's try to go to the top.
May 24: Three Sisters. Meet at the yellow house.

Every Sunday, the Incline Club meets to run in the Pikes Peak area.
It's a large group with wide range of abilities. The runs start at
8am sharp in Manitou Springs. The runs typically are 2-3.5 hours.
They have upwards of 100 runners with a wide range of abilities. Let
me know if you are interested in joining/forming a carpool, and what
part of town you will be coming from. For more info on these runs,
including a map and detailed description of this Sunday's route, go
to www.inclineclub.com.
