+ Wednesday morning run: Bear Creek Lake Park
+ Thursday evening run: Stone House Park, Lakewood
+ Saturday's Evergreen Runners Circle run: Evergreen Lake House
+ Snowshoe, trail, and other upcoming events
+ Other weekend outings and carpool opportunities
+ Grand Canyon Run: April 19 (tentative)

The Wednesday's morning run is at Bear Creek Lake Park (T=2, P=1-2)
at 6:00am. This is a good place to run if it's snowy/icy.

Take C-470 to Morrison Rd. Go west. Take the first right at Rooney
Rd, then an immediate right into the dirt lot, across from the Conoco
Station. Meet in the lot. The run starts by taking the bike path
across Morrison Rd into the park.

This Thursday's run is at Stone House Park (T=1, P=1) at 6:15pm. This
is an easy mix of flat pavement and dirt.

Stone House Park is in Lakewood, just north of hwy 285, between
Wadsworth and Kipling.

From Wadsworth: go west on Yale. Yale is at a traffic light, about
3/4-mile north of 285, and at the bottom of the hill south of
Morrison Rd. Go west to Estes. Turn left. Go about 1/4 mile and turn
into the lot on the left.

From Kipling/285: Go north to Dartmouth. Turn right at the light.
Turn right at the first street, Dartmouth Place, on the curve.
Continue to the stop sign at Estes. Turn left. The parking lot is on
the right, just across (north of) the creek. If you miss Dartmouth
Place, continue around the curve to Yale. Turn right to Estes. Turn
right. The park will be on your left.

From Kipling north: turn left (east) on Morrison Rd. Turn right on
Estes and continue to the park.

Route: We'll start by heading east, on the wide dirt path, around the
south side of two small lakes. At the far end of the 2nd lake, take
the path to the right, continuing east. Just before Wadsworth, cross
the bridge to the south side of the creek. Take the path, or the dirt
trails alongside, back to the west. Look for a bridge on your right.
This will take you back to the start. The total distance to this
point is only 1.5mi. Go left after crossing the bridge, through the
parking lot, across Estes, and look for a dirt path heading west.
This will merge back with the bike path in about 2/3-mile. If you
miss the bridge coming back from Wadsworth, just continue west on the
bike path. At Kipling, you will jog left, cross the road, then pick
up the path again on the other side. You can stay on the paved path
or take the dirt trails alongside. Continue west, through the
apartment complex and golf course towards the dam. Turn at the
appropriate time and head back. Remember to look for the dirt path or
the bridge on your left on the way back.

The Saturday Evergreen Runners Circle (ERC) run is at Evergreen Lake
House at 8:30am sharp. Take the Evergreen Parkway, hwy 74, exit 252
from I-70. Continue through Bergen Park, past Elk Meadow, and down
the hill to the lake. At the bottom of the hill, just before the road
turns left at the lake, turn right onto Upper Bear Creek Rd. Go about
1/4 mile and turn left into the parking lot.

The ERC runs are usually about an hour long. Sometimes a few people
will meet early or continue after the run to get in more mileage.
They usually go out for coffee/breakfast afterwards. I don't lead
these runs, so please don't ask me the questions. For more info about
the ERC schedules, go to:

Every Sunday, the Incline Club meets to run in the Pikes Peak area.
It's a large group with wide range of abilities. The runs start at
8am sharp in Manitou Springs. The runs typically are 2-3.5 hours. Let
me know if you are interested in joining a carpool, and what part of
town you will be coming from. For more info on these runs, including
a map and detailed description of this Sunday's route, go to
www.inclineclub.com.

Clark Fox is always looking for fellow powder hounds on the weekends.
He usually goes tele-skiing, but welcomes company if you just want to
go snowshoeing or otherwise play in the snow. For info, contact him
at cfox@...

Looking for company on a weekend run, ski, snowshoe, or other outing?
Want to carpool to a snowshoe race (e.g., Beaver Creek) or future
Incline Club run? Let me know and I'll send out the word. Please send
me specific information about where and when you want people to meet,
or how to contact you. Please try to send me the information a week
in advance. Don't wait for me to plan everything!

I'm starting to work on the details for the Grand Canyon this spring.
The tentative date is the weekend of April 19 (I know it's Easter).
Some will do a double crossing, south rim-north-rim-south rim, 42-48
miles depending on your route, with 11,000' of climbing. Shorter
options are available. Some of us may add a stop in Moab for some mtn
biking on the way out and/or back. This helps break up the drive,
about 685 miles. It would end up being a 4 or 5 day weekend. We would
probably camp at the south rim. If you've never been there, it's a
must see, even if you don't want to run. Let me know if you are
interested.
