We are planning to upgrade the DTR web site soon. We are seeking input
from everyone to see what you would like to see.
Everyone is invited to attend the planning meeting next Sunday
afternoon, Feb. 8. If you can't attend, we'd still like to get your
ideas. Web design knowledge is not required. We are going to be
talking about general site ideas, not technical details.
Pizza and food will be provided. Please respond so we know how much
food to get. You can reply to this address.
When: Feb. 8, 3-5pm.
Where: 3718 Julian St, Denver, N Highlands area.

Agenda:
* Purpose of the web site:
o Market the group.
o Make is easier for people to organize and inform people
about runs.
o Make it easier for people to find out about trails and
runs. I'm almost certain that a number of the mysterious 1,700 members
use the group/messages to plan their own weekend runs.
* Use DenverTrailRunners.org domain (it's available) or stay with
the subdomain on my web site, dtr.runuphillracing.com. Domains and
hosting are fairly cheap. I'm sure we could cover the costs by having
people chip in $1 or $2 a year, or even charge race directors to put
banners on the site (something nominal like $10, see below).
* DTR logo. I'd like to open up to others - I'm sure we have more
than a few talented graphic artists - then have the group vote on
their favorite. The logo is not only something for the web site, but
for shirts too. Some people have expressed interest in getting DTR shirts.
* Content. By this I mean what types of info and pages. I don't
want to get into the detail of what's on specific pages now. Rather, I
mean what general kinds of info should we have on the web site.
Content means whether we include things like:
o Route maps and driving directions (duh!). Joe Paniccia has
used the term "static data" to refer to info that doesn't change, like
this. If this kind of stuff is on the web site, and kept up to date,
then it makes it a lot easier to send out the messages.
+ aerial photos (e.g., google earth) with routes
+ topo maps.
+ topos overlayed on aerials
+ pictures of some of the trails and trailheads
o Pictures of DTR activities
o Discussion board - How hard is this to create, and how
hard is it to monitor and maintain?
o Race calendars - Can we make a database that will
automatically update based on race dates and current date?
o Info and FAQs
* Online surveys.
* Who and how are we going to maintain the site to make sure the
content is accurate and up to date.
* Stay on YahooGroups, or do everything through the web site, like
the Incline Club.
* Post the weekly runs on the web site instead of, or in addition
to weekly messages.
* Accept web banners or other types of ads from races, shoe
companies, running stores, etc.
* Other DTR presences on the web; e.g., MySpace, Facebook, Twitter.
Some other sites to check out in advance.
