We had our May 4th General Club Meeting at the race grounds with 26
members present. The biggest issue to be discussed was the fact that
the club does not have enough money to pay for the May race without
finding ways to produce more money for the club. Many solutions were
discussed and three things were voted on.

First - A motion was made to charge a $25 Camping fee to all club
members to help raise money. All voted yes, with no objections made.

Second- A motion was made to run the Street Drags to draw more
spectators and to help raise money. All voted yes, with no objections
made.

Third- A motion was made to go ahead and have the May Race.

All voted yes, with no objections. It was suggested that, if possible,
to have the members that were present at today's meeting go ahead and
pay the camping fee in order to give Rick a little more working
revenue. Eighteen family members paid for their camping fees today.
Just remember to bring extra cash with you Race weekend to pay the
camping fee!!

Other ways to help raise money is to have members make copies of the
Race Event flyers and put out in local business places, put out
separate containers to recycle aluminum cans, have members' wives bake
cookies, cup cakes or fudge and bring to the Concession Stand to sell,
allow spectators to take personal vehicle back to viewing field for
$10 per day and to use Stan's trailer to carry off trash instead of
using the commercial dumpsters. Any suggestions from members that
could not attend today's meeting is more than welcomed to be put before

As for getting ready for the May Race event, we still need people to
be at the track each weekend between now and race weekend to mow the
grass and weed eat around the poles down the drag strip and the tires
around the Figure 8.

We are still needing people to donate weed killer so we can control
the weeds around the poles down the drag strip and the tires around
the Figure 8. Call Ken or Bill if you have weed killer spray solution
to be used.

The Tentative Schedule of Events for the May Race is as follows:

Saturday - Junior Jeepsters - 8:00 am
Figure 8 Race with Schedule start tine of 11:00 AM (tentative)
Street Drags, approx 2 or 3 pm until finished
4 Wheel Drive Drags under the lights, As soon as the street
            drags are done

Sunday - Junior Jeepsters – 8 am
Over-runs of 4 WD Drags as needed
         Side by Side Motorcross Racing

Delaware 4 Wheelers Association really needs your support and
donations of time, effort and money to keep this club an active club.
Bill agreed to be the President one more year provided the members
came forward and became active members by helping the club during the
race and in preparing the grounds before the race. Now is the time
for ALL members to step forward and give their support.

If you have any questions, please call Bill at 302-420-1024 or Ken at
302-363-6199.

Bill Mullaney,
President
Cynthia Hood,
Secretary

Spring is finally here and even though the weather is still bouncing
up and down we can definitely see the signs of spring with the trees
budding, flowers blooming and grass growing, Hint Hint, Grass needs
mowing at track…. We are still looking for donations of weed and grass
killer to spray around the posts and tires to help keep the weeds down.

The Board of Directors has encountered a few problems concerning our
May Race and we need all members too attend a special Delaware
4-Wheelers Club meeting on May 4th at 10 am.

This meeting will be held at the Club race grounds to discuss these
issues, find solutions and vote on the decisions. Due to the high cost
of fuel, we do not expect our out of state members to attend this
meeting, however they can call Bill or Ken to discuss issues and to
give their views on the matters at hand.

With thee rising cost of fuel, we do not expect the out of state
members to attend the upcoming work party weekends but do request that
as many members as possible be at the work weekend prior to the race
to help cut the grass, dress the track, set up the barrier netting and
get everything else set up for the race.

If you have any questions, please call Bill aat 302-420-1024 or Ken at

Is there any way we could get a copy of the meetings minutes uploaded to the
website so
anyone who has not attended could be better informed on the issues discussed and
voted
on? This will make everyone "on the same page" on different topics that may have
been
brought up or followed through with from previous conversations. This would also
do away
with the asking of so many detailed questions to those in attendence and a good
reference
for officers and members that may not know an exact answer when put on the spot.

Also, if we could get a copy of members signed up for the positions on the giant
white board
posted here it will notify those who can only help out race weekend ahead of
time. This way
they can sign up for those that are empty. This may cut down on scrambling
around weeks or
days before our event trying to fill needed jobs.

If I think of anything else I will sign back on.

Anyone have any other ideas to keep the lines of communication open or running
more
smoothly in this day and age of high tech?

I hope this isn't too much to put on the webmaster. Please let me know if it is,
I'm not as
educated about webpages as I would like to be.

So, how was the meeting Sun.? Any important decisions made or changes voted on?
Will
meetings be on a regular basis w/ a designated weekend each month?

I did not reply to the newsletter w/ intent to set any one or more people off. I
was trying to
convey my disappointment of the short notice given for such a meeting. I'm sure
I am not
the only one who was taken by surprise by the dates the letter was sent and the
meeting
date. I understand they may have been mentioned at the end of the meeting during
pig
roast weekend, but most people don't sit w/ a notepad and paper and take
specific notes.
We rely on the officers to keep us well informed. I did read the newsletter
correctly and
addressed the areas I thought should be discussed since I would not be able to
attend this
meeting. Some of the areas I addressed were misread or misunderstood. I was just
expressing what others and I have discussed reguarding these issues.

We all know there are two trains of thought within our club as with most
organizations,
but if we try to work together instead of disagreeing and trying to find fault
at the expense
of another this would work much better. For example, when issues are confusing
in a
letter and clarification is asked the answer should be more professional and not
so
accusatory of an individual. Stating a response in general terms will still get
your point
accrosed without singleing people out and causing waves.

I am very disappointed that I have been made an example and tried to be shown in
an
inappropriate light. As I was writing this message I have been informed that my
letter and
its response was printed, copied, and handed out at the meeting. That is quite
rude and
unprofessional, again as I was not able to "defend" myself if attacked or
discussed if that
was needed. I have been a member for 13 years and worked diligantly for the last
10
years. I have not missed more than 2-3 meetings in that entire time. I have been
one of
the only females at the track participating in the monthly activities winter,
spring, summer
and fall. I respect and consider most club members as my friends, but this
behavior is
making me rethink my detication and time given to this club.

We need volunteers to help with the mowing of the track area and
getting everything ready for the Pig Roast. We also need help in
trimming around the poles down the drag strip and the tires around the
figure 8 area. The track area needs mowed about every two weeks just
to keep it from being so high that a regular riding mower can't cut
it. Bill and Ken cut the track area this past weekend (Aug.12th). It
will definitely need to be cut again in a couple of weeks. A
tentative schedule for mowing would be the weekends of August 26th,
September 9th and September 23rd. If anyone can help it would be
greatly appreciated.

Per Delaware Four Wheelers:

Thanks to all that responded to our last newsletter concerning the
change of dates for the Annual Meeting and Pig Roast. All responses
were very positive and we did not receive any objections to changing
the dates. So….we will hold our Annual Meeting and Pig Roast on
September 30th and October 1st. As always, the club will provide the
meat and we ask that each family bring a covered dish. Hope we will
see everyone there!
