IWR CODE: RED REPORT
by Myke Hinckley
February 28, 2004
Josh and Bubba took to the mic and Josh wan as jacked as ever about
the card for tonight but he was even more jacked about the upcoming
Brawl For Braxton card. Josh announced a monumental main event which
will see Tough Enough trainer and current WWE SuperStar Al Snow taking
on fellow ECW alum, the most homicidal, suicidal, genocidal wrestler on
the face of the planet, Sabu!
Bubba took over the mic duties at that point, saying that they had
some other issues to tend to tonight, namely The Threat and at that
point, Truth Martini, Anthony Rivera and N8 Mattson stormed the ring
and decimated the BNU. After a hellacious beating, the trio finally
took their leave and Josh helped Bubba to the back.
POPULAR MATHEMATICS def. KAMIKAZE & “Prime Time” TOMMY JOHNSON
Shalwin and Kamikaze exchanged armwringers to get the contest
underway before Shalwin took Kamikaze to the mat with an overhead
wristlock. Kamikaze rolled through the pressure and the pair exchanged
hammerlocks before Kamikaze scored with a shoulderblock and a hiptoss.
Kamikaze then applied a side headlock in the middle of the ring
that Shalwin turned into one of his own and then Kamikaze absorbed a
shoulderblock. Kamikaze delivered a trifecta of deep armdrags on both
Shalwin and Numbers before chasing them from the ring with a jumping
roundhouse kick.
Numbers and Johnson each got tags and Johnson flipped Numbers
across the ring but when Numbers tried to return the favor, Johnson
blocked it and shoved Numbers to the mat. Johnson sent Numbers tumbling
into the ropes and scored with a clothesline then after another
takedown, Johnson and Kamikaze hooked up for the Hart Attack
clothesline.
Kamikaze delivered a full slam to set up a Mutaesque driving elbow
then Johnson pressed Numbers into the light and sent him to the mat
with a tremendous press slam. However, Shalwin snuck in a shot from the
apron, allowing Numbers to take over following a dropkick. Despite the
protssts of Kamikaze and his manager, the official kept them outside of
the ring while Numbers and Shalwin scored with a double back elbow off
of the ropes.
Numbers and Shalwin continued the assault and after a double team
legdrop-Atomic Drop, Numbers jumped repeatedly on Tommy’s midsection.
Numbers made the tag and he Irish Whipped Johnson into a hard boot to
the face by Shalwin. Jimmy then hit a full slam then Shalwin took to
the air and walked the middle rope before scoring with a flyinh elbow.
Numbers checked back in but he ran into a boot to the face in the
corner, allowing Johnson to acore with a jumping side kick to cause
some separation. Johnson then hit a modified brainbuster, allowing him
to make the tag. Kamikaze checked in and scored with a superkick on
Shalwin before going to work on both of his adversaries.
Kamikaze scored with a Northern Lights suplex on Numbers before
catching Shalwin with a version of the Shining Wizard. However, Numbers
low-bridged Kamikaze as he came off of the ropes, allowing Shalwin and
Numbers to hook up for a double team neckbreaker and then Shalwin sent
Numbers to the floor to… get the multiplication tables?
Yeah, I said it.
Number taunted Johnson as Shalwin held him in place but Kamikaze
came to his partner’s aid, breaking up the situation then catching
Numbers with a Dragon Punch as he set up on the top rope. Kamikaze then
looked for a superples as Tommy went upstairs on the opposite side of
the ring but Shalwin knocked Tommy from the top rope before catching
Kamikaze on the second strand. Shalwin then set Kamikaze up as Numbers
came from the top rope and nearly took Kamikaze’s head off with a vile
legdrop from the top rope, giving him team the win!
GRUDGE MATCH
”Supafly” ANDY MUSCAT def. “The International SuperStar” KLUNK THE
KLOWN (w/ALEXANDER KANE)
Special Guest Offical - BAHDUNKADUNK
After Kane delivered a less than flattering oratory at the
beginning of the match, he distracted Andy, allowing Klunk to assault
him from behind. Andy fought back, scoring with a headscissor that sent
Klunk to the arena floor then upon Klunk’s arrival back in the ring,
Andy greeted him with a series of chops.
Klunk took over, though, scoring with a chop and a knee to the
midsection. Klunk tried to use the ropes to break up a Sunset Flip, but
Bahdunkadunk kicked his hands and then dropped him with a clothesline
before tolling a quick two count! Klunk tried to turn the tide but
Muscat scored with a chop and a rollup in the corner.
Muscat and Bahdunkadunk each took their liberties with shots a
little south of the border on Klunk but Klunk caught Muscat going
upstairs moments later. Muscat tried for a shoulderblock in the corner
but Klunk moved out of the way and he hit Bahdunkadunk instead! Klunk
tried to capitalize after hitting a slingshot suplex and a piledriver
as he and Kane looked to clobber Muscat with a coconut but Muscat moved
out of the way and the coconut shattered on the head of Kane! Momens
later, after a takedown by Muscat, the Supafly went upstairs and
crashed down onto Klunk with a tremendous splash and Bahdunkadunk
tolled the three-count!
TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH
”Maniac” GEORGE MORBID & EDDIE VENOM vs. CHEMICALLY IMBALANCED (NC)
Venom steered Morbid out to the ring prior to the match and Morbid
even stopped ringside to yank out some of his own hair and give it to a
fan! Deranged tried to hurl Crazy onto Morbid and Venom at the onset
but the pair caught him in midair and threw him back over the top rope
and into Deranged.
The action spilled out onto the arena floor before Deranged caught
Venom with a belly-to-back suplex in the ring that set up a twisting
legdrop. Ktazy came in and caught Venom with an axehandle blow to the
shoulder from the top rope then he and Deranged leveled Venom with a
double clothesline off of the ropes.
Deranged reddened the chest of the big man with a series of chops
then after a boot to the face of Venom, Deranged tagged Krazy in and
then teamed for a double team sidewalk slam. Krazy tried to take Venom
down with a series of clotheslines off of the ropes but Venom stopped
him in a hurry with a boot to the back of the head.
Venom ran Krazy into a boot in the corner then Morbid got the tag
and let Krazy think about things for a while as he held him aloft in a
stalling vertical suplex. Morbid punished Krazy on the mat before
driving him into the canvas with a monstrous chokeslam off of the
ropes.
Venom came back in and left a lasting impression on Krazy’s chest
with a series of chops before folding him up like an accordion with a
superkick. Morbid came back in and he tenderized Krazy on the canvas
before making another quick tag to Venom, who simply drove Krazy’s knee
into the mat.
Krazy countered a second effort, though, allowing him to make the
tag to Deranged, who came in and mowed Morbid over with a pair of
clotheslines. Venom hurled Deranged over the top rope to the floor but
a forearm shot by Morbid missed Krazy and instead decked Venom.
Krazy took Morbid down with a springboard dropkick and then hit
Venom with a dropkick as well. Krazy injured Venom out on the floor,
allowing Deranged to lock in a Camel Clutch on Deranged. The Necro
Butcher made a startling appearance, though, coming to the aid of
Morbid wielding a bat wrapped in barbed wire! After a few moments which
cleared up the melee, it was announced that Necro would take Eddie
Venom’s place in the match!
”Maniac” GEORGE MORBID & THE NECRO BUTCHER vs. CHEMICALLY
IMBALANCED (NC)
This one lasted about fifteen seconds as after a double clothesline
by Morbid, he made a tag… and was promptly assaulted by Necro. Necro
leveled Morbid with a series of boots to the face but he ran into a
back elbow by Morbid and the pair began to exchange heavy right hands
in the middle of the ring. Everything broke loose at that point as
Morbid, Necro, Venom, Deranged, Krazy and local wrestlers DBA all
brawled throughout the crowd, the debacle finally being broken up by
security and Josh Movado!
Showtime plugged the Brawl For Braxton show which will take place at
St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit on Sunday, March 21.
Another brawl went down before the 3-Way for the IWR KOI Title as
CK3 and Petey Williams, who were sitting at ringside, got into it with
Gavin Starr, Jaime Coxxx and Frankie the Face, causing an impromptu
six-man tag team match to be signed.
A-1, “The Symbol of Excellence” CK3, PETEY WILLIAMS def. JAIME
COXXX, GAVIN STARR & IWR King of the Independents Champion FRANKIE
THE FACE
The Border City Wrestling trio controlled much of the action as
they punished Coxxx in their half of the ring. Gavin got the tag later
in the affair and got much of the same punishment until Frankie the
Face got the tag and came in smoking. Face scored with a T-Bone suplex
on CK but the official got wiped out by an errant clothesline in the
corner by the KOI Champ. Frankie would hit a chokeslam out of nowhere
but Petey would deliver a scintiallating neckbreaker unbeknownst to the
official and CK rolled into the cover and pick up the pinfall for his
team! After the match, the fans gave the IWR team a nice ovation and
Jamie thanked each and every one of them for coming out to the show!
INTERMISSION
WHIPLASH def.
THE SYRIAN PLAYBOY
The pair exchanged a nice series of chain wrestling at the onset of
the match before trading a pair of armwringers. Whiplash gained the
offensive edge before taking the Playboy down with an srmdrag and a
pair of hiptosses. Whiplash scored with a baseball slide through the
ropes before hitting a somersault plancha from the top rope to the
arena floor!
However, as Whiplash came back in through the ropes, the Playboy
kicked the middle rope into the NETHERREGIONS of Whiplash. The Playboy
delivered a textbook running powerslam in the middle of the ring before
planting Whiplash with a gutwrench suplex and choking Whiplash out on
the mat.
The Playboy blasted Whiplash with a hard right hand to the face
before clamping on a rear chinlock which he turned into a surfboard.
The surfboard was then turned into a modified bow-and-arrow and the
Playboy taunted Whiplash, telling him to tap out. Whiplash got the
crowd behind him, though, and he fought out of the hold with a series
of forearms to the side of the head.
The Playboy landed a beautiful handspring moonsault off of the
ropes but Whiplash earned a nearfall with a Sunset Flip. Moments later,
Whiplash scored with a wheelbarrow bulldog, shades of Rey Mysterio, but
the Playboy flipped through a German suplex and hit one of his own. The
Playboy bridged and apparently picked up the pinfall but the referee
raised Whiplash’s hand in victory, saying that Whiplash’s shoulder got
up and it was the Playboy’s which were on the canvas! Whiplash offered
a handshake after the match but the Playboy opted to slap him instead,
incensing Whiplash before taking his leave!
NO DQ BRAWL
”The Midwest Maniac” MR. INSANITY def. “The Dark Omen” ELVIS ELLIOT
Elvis tried to get into Insanity’s head at the onset but Insanity
looked to get inside of Elvis’s head with his boot, kicking Elvis right
in the face! Insanity kept the onslaught coming and the fight went out
to the arena floor where Insanity scored with a chair shot to the gut
and a headbutt.
Insanity looked for the chair back in the middle of the ring but
Elvis fought back and connected with a swinging neckbreaker off of the
ropes. Insanity delivered a series of shots to the midsection before
blocking a chair shot with a knee to the midsection. However, Elvis
stopped short of a chair shot and rolled out to the arena floor.
Insanity followed in short order, though, scoring with a plancha
over the top rope to the arena floor. Insanity ripped away at Elvis’s
face and the pair brawled on the arena floor once again but Elvis
turned the tide after running Insanity face-first into the wall and
then dropping him with a swinging neckbreaker on the arena floor.
The two fought back into the ring where Elvis earned a nearfall and
then looked to go airborne but Insanity broke up an axehandle blow with
a kendo sstick shot to the midsection. A second shot, this one to the
head, sent Evlis to the mat for a two-count but Elvis caught Insanity
with a stun gun out of the corner.
Elvis looked for a shoulderblock in the corner but he instead ran
into the chair that Insanity had wedged between the second and top
ropes only moments before. Insanity scored with another kendo stick
shot before taking the action back out to the floor where he hit a
swinging neckbreaker of his own.
Insanity earned a nearfall before producing a stapler but Elvis
blocked Insanity and instead stapled Insanity right in the… umm,
unmentionables? Elvis took a moment to ham it up with the crowd,
though, and Insanity made him pay but as he looked to finish Elvis off,
George Morbid came out to the ring and although he absorbed a series of
kendo stick shots to the gut and head, he rebounded and imprinted
Insanity’s form into the canvas with a vile chokeslam! Elvis then came
from the top rope with a moonsault and scored the pinfall but after the
affair, Deranged and Krazy came to Insanity’s aid. Insanity challenged
Elvis to a fight at Brawl for Braxton and Morbid repeatedly bludgeoned
himself with kendo stick and chair shots to the head on the arena
floor!
SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH
(The IWR Tag Team Titles and the IWR Heavyweight Title are all on the
line)
GUTTER, BRYER WELINGTON & IWR Tag Team Champion “Dynamic” JOSH
MOVADO (w/”Tenacious” ZACH GOWEN) def. ANTHONY RIVERA, TRUTH MARTINI
& IWR Champion “Amazing” N8 MATTSON
Bubba declared that all the gold would be on the line at the onset
of the affair and to make things even worse for the Threat, Josh had a
very special guest in his corner, the returning Tenacious Z, Zach
Gowen! Truth and Gutter started the encounter by enchanging armwringers
and Truth clamped on a side headlock.
Gutter countered into a side headlock of his own and after taking
Truth to the mat, he went right back to the side headlock. Gutter
scored with an Atomic Drop and a bulldog and both Rivera and Bryer
checked in for their respective squads at that point. The former
Threatmates locked up collar-and-elbow and Rivera scored with a
swinging neckbreaker out of the corner.
Bryer responded with a sitout hiptoss of his own then Josh and N8
locked up center ring. Josh scored with a shoulderblock before shoving
Mattson into the corner and N8 took over before making the tag to
Rivera. Rivera took Josh up and over with a snap suplex but Josh
countered a second into the Crippler CrossFace!
Bryer and Gutter exchanged a pair of quick tags and Bryer wrenched
away at Rivera’s arm on the canvas. Rivera barreled over N8 with a hard
back elbow off of the ropes and N8 got a pinfall moments later. The
Threat continued to pummel Bryer until a double DDT by Bryer on Truth
and N8 allowed him to make the tag to a VERY fresh Josh!
Josh came in and took all three Threat members to task, scoring
with a trifecta of legbar DDTs. The match broke down at that point and
Gutter nearly scored a pinfall on N8 after hitting a fisherman’s buster
but Truth broke up the pinfall! Truth got a two-count following a
Sunset Flip but Josh came in and spiked Martini into the canvas with a
Michinoku Driver!
Rivera broke up the pinfall and moments later delivered a
tremendous Gore but Bryer came in and flattened Rivera with a sitout
powerbomb out of a fireman’s carry. Martini came in and scored with a
boot in the face of Bryer as N8 worked over Gutter with Cindy on the
floor. However, Gutter broke free long enough to come to Bryer’s aid
and after moving out of the way of a Bronco Buster attempt in the
corner, Gutter scored with a neckbreaker on Truth from the second rope.
Moments later, Gutter ducked a belt shot by Truth, driving Martini
face first into the IWR Title and Josh then came from the rafters with
a scintillating frog splash to give his team the win! Josh thanked
Gutter, Bryer, Bubba and Zach Gowen after the show and Showtime brought
the night to an end by plugging the Brawl For Braxton show on March 21.
Was it BOTH
championships change hands after ONE pin-fall? Or was it ONLY ONE
championship of the opponent you pin? The complete impromptu set-up of
this main event and stipulation makes it very hard to know EXACTLY how
the office will rule on this matter...
Representing
the
prolific Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) magazine, Steve Barr was in
the house for the IWR's Code Red show last night.
