Aloha. We're just hours away from Judgment Day on PPV...and I can't say
I'm that excited. Hell, I'm more excited about the episode of 24 that
will air in around 30 minutes. We have one of the most poorly assembled
cards WWE could've given us. Way to go guys. Hopefully Torrie vs Sable
will make up for the rest. :)

- Tonight World Wrestling Entertainment presents Judgment Day, live on
pay-per-view from Charlotte, NC. The following matches are on the card.
Brock Lesnar takes on Big Show in a Stretcher match for the WWE
Heavyweight title; Triple H defends his World title against Kevin Nash;
Mr America fights Rowdy Roddy Piper; In a Ladder match for the SD! Tag
Team gold Team Angle take on Eddie Guerrero and a partner to be named; A
new Intercontinental champion will be crowned in a battle royal
featuring RAW brand former IC champions; Jazz takes on Victoria,
Jacqueline and Trish Stratus in a Fatal Four Way for the Women's
championship; Test & Scott Steiner team up vs new comers La Resistance;
and Torrie Wilson along with Sable will face off in a bikini challenge.
Card is subject to change.
> FORMER WWE, WCW PROMOTER IN HOSPITAL
- Former WWE and WCW events co-ordinator Zane Bresloff is currently in
hospital in critical condition after an auto accident during the weekend
reports Dave Meltzer. Bresloff served with the McMahons in the 80s and
early 90s until he jumped to WCW to promote Turner's organization.
Bresloff, from Denver, CO., is one of the people who in the past said
that the WrestleMania III attendance record of 93,175 was just a
blown-up figure that McMahon invented to generate attention. Bresloff
suffered numerous internal injuries including fractured pelvis and
messed up several arteries and veins. He's scheduled to go under surgery
in the next couple of days.
> WCW STARS DO DARK MATCHES ON RAW & SMACKDOWN
- WCW stars Crowbar and Daffney performed two dark matches during this
past week's RAW & Smackdown! tapings. W-O Newsletter reader Chris
Gaughan sent in word that during RAW, Crowbar - real name Devon Storm -
wrestled Mike Bell as a babyface however the next day during Smackdown!
tapings he performed as a heel and wrestled Joey Matthews. WWE.COM also
reports that this has been the first time that Daffney - real name
Shannon Spruill - performed for the first time since her WCW days in

It has been a couple of years since I drove up the hill to Stu Hart’s
mansion in Southwest Calgary.
The first weekend of May, I returned.
Taking up and invitation from friends Harry Smith and “Stampede Kid” TJ
Wilson, I took two friends, James and Dave, up to Stu Hart’s house,
scene of some of my best memories, as well as some of my most painful.
From sitting in the back porch listening to stories by Davey Boy Smith
or Stu himself, to seeing firsthand the kindness of Helen Hart. How in
awe I felt sitting next to Owen at one of the traditional Sunday Dinners
and on another occasion, meeting Bret Hart for the first time in Stu’s
large kitchen. All of these great memories came flooding back to me
when we pulled into the drive beside the ivy covered brick walls of Hart
house.
There are ghosts there now, of a once strong family torn apart, of 5
family members lost in the past decade. The cries of agonized “tough
guys” from the past decades still echo in the old house, and if walls
could talk, what stories these ones would tell.
The Dungeon is still as rough looking as ever. The ceiling has been
replaced, as it had finally become pretty much non-existent from
assorted appendages going through it over the years (including Ken
Shamrock’s head on a 1998 Pay Per View against Owen Hart.) But the rock
hard mat, wood paneled walls and old exercise equipment remain.
I could tell my friends were in awe watching Bruce and Ross Hart put
young hopefuls through the motions. Again and again they were
armdragged, hiptossed and slammed onto the hard mat with an audible
groan. I grimaced in sympathy, remembering how much it hurts to land on
that floor. The sites and smells brought me back to my dreamer days,
when I spent hours down there myself, including a torturous 30 minutes
at the mercy of 81 year old Stu.
It flashed back to my first visit to Hart House in March of 1996 as Dave
and James took in the giant table in the dining room and the pictures of
each Hart as a child on the walls in the living room. We settled into
Stu’s Library, with various awards and certificates on the walls to
interview Dave Swift, a young guy who has a ton of potential and is a
name to keep an eye out for in the future.
Things have changed up at the house. There is now a big condo
development next door, when there used to be nothing. The house,
described in Marsha Erb’s book “Stu Hart: Lord of the Ring” as “outside
of Calgary” when they first bought it decades ago is now very much a
part of it, all of Stu’s land sold and developed. The house shows its
age in some places, but it is still very much the house of legend it
always was.
Both Dave and James commented that having the chance to go up to the
house was such a big thrill for them, a dream come true.
That is the magic of Hart House.
Dreams have been born and dreams have been crushed. Starry eyed kids
have walked in with hope in their eyes and in many cases, barely walked
out after being stretched by Stu. Yet it continues, each year more guys
idolizing the Hart Family, Wrestling, and names like Chris Jericho and
Chris Benoit head up to the mansion on the hill to test out there
dreams. Some will make it, many will not.
But they all will remember.
