ESPN has been reporting the past couple of days that Jerry and Tuna
cannot agree on whether to keep Allen or to trade him! The trade
could of happened w/ the lions on draft day #1 but Allen didn't want
to renegotiate his contract for the lions. Allen has been quoted as
to say he will only re-neg his contract for the raiders! The feeling
in oak-town is mutual. They want him just as bad as he wants to go
over there. GOOD BYE!!!!
I agree with the tuna side of this problem. For the simple fact that
Allen's attitude will only hurt the lockerroom chemistry. Kinda like
Keyshawn did in Tampa last year. If the guy doesn't want to play in
big D for tuna then he needs to leave. Jerry may as well get
something for the lazy lineman! Maybe we'll get one of the raiders
cb's (they have more prospects than we do) along with a 2nd or 3rd
round pick next year. Jerry is in a good position here. The raiders
(Al Davis) have stated to the press that they want Allen, in a bad
way! He can use this to get everything out of the raiders, the
cowboys are in the driver's seat.
I have to wonder though, is ESPN doing the whole media thing? You
know, trying to make a story where there really isn't one. Everybody
knows how both men feel about Allen being on the team. Take last
year's sideline chat between Jerry and Allen as an example.
I want to think Jerry is smarter than that. To form a wedge between
him and Tuna I mean. He screwed up once with Jimmy Johnson. We could
have won 4 SUPER BOWLS in row(at least)!!!!! I do not think(more like
hope) he will do that again. Especially over one lazy, slow, spoiled
brat of a player. Plus the last time I checked my memory bank no
single offensive lineman truely affected the outcome of a football.
As for the "who will be our RG if we let Allen go?" question, I'm
pretty sure there will be one or two good veterans released after
June 1. That date doesn't just apply to qb's and db's you know. Larry
Allen has done alot for the Cowboys, but he will not missed as much
as Roger Staubach, Troy, Irvin, Novachek, or Emmitt.
I just hope Jerry has more "football commen sense" than ESPN is
making him seem not to have. I still believe Allen will be gone, if
not to the raiders, to another team. Maybe there is a "dark horse"
team who wants Allen besides the lions and raiders.
The bottom line is that we do not know what is going on behind closed
doors at Valley Ranch. That's why we post our OPINIONS on this page.
See you guys later. REDSKINS SUCK!!!!
One last thing, the giants just released Collins. 4/28/04 @5:30p.m.
