So we've had low numbers at both of the first two attempts at club
practice. But we haven't really been pushing it yet. So allow me to get
pushy for the first time.
After a few talks with a few people, it sound like the best practice
times will be Saturday mornings at 9am and Tuesday nights at 6pm. This
leaves Wednesdays and Sundays open for pickup. I'll be doing
conditioning with Micah on Monday and Thursday nights. It'll probably
be after 9 to avoid the heat. I'll send out an email with the time and
place for anyone who wants to join us. The conditioning won't be
manditory (even though I STRONGLY advise that everyone at least does
two hard runs a week if you're not going to do them with us), but the
practices definitely are. The more practices you attend, the more
playing time you get at tourneys. It's that simple.
Which brings me to the next point. I'm sending off a check for our
first tournament. It's a savage 9 tourney in Gainesville on July 14 and
15. It will be $20 a person. The roster will be chosen from those who
come to practice. Again, it's that simple. If you want to go, come to
practice. We will also, hopefully, be going to Toss in the Moss in
August before club sectionals. So if you don't end up going to
Gainesville, there will be at least two more tourneys we'll be
attending.
So that's the line in the sand for now. This Saturday will be the last
"freebie" practice. Next Tuesday is the first one that will be
manditory. With one night practice and one morning practice, there's no
reason I can see that anyone who wants to play can't make AT LEAST one
practice a week. Furthermore, I don't see many reasons why everyone
can't make both. Set your work schedules accordingly and come out to
the fields. It's high time that North Florida represented on the club
level. Word. Drew out.
