Maryhill Festival of Speed featured on Telemundo

February 13, 2008, Glendora, California- This coming weekend the 2007 “ Maryhill Festival of Speed” will be featured on the show “Ritmo Deportivo” Sunday, February 17 at 3:00pm Eastern Time. “Ritmo Deportivo” is broadcast nationally on the Spanish language network Telemundo

The “Maryhill Festival of Speed” is the premier gravity sports racing event in North America and features International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) World Cup competitions for the sports of Downhill Skateboarding, Street Luge, Downhill Inline Skating and Gravity Bike. The 2008 event is scheduled for August 27-31 in Goldendale, Washington. “We’re very excited that Telemundo is featuring the Maryhill Festival of Speed”, said IGSA President Marcus Rietema. “Showcasing our events to the Spanish language market is very important for the IGSA and our sponsors.”

Ritmo Deportivo (translated as Rhythm Sports in English) is a weekly television series airing Sundays at 3:00pm ET with a rebroadcast at 11:30pm ET. The series is hosted by Leti Coo and Karim Mendiburu and is geared generally to men ages 18 to 24 and focuses mostly on action sports. Each week's episode is filmed in different locations around the United States, Mexico or elsewhere around the world. The Telemundo network reaches 93 percent of U.S. Hispanic households in 142 markets via over-the-air, cable and satellite TV.

The International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) is an international sanctioning body for gravity racing sports, athletes and events, featuring a 6-race World Cup Championship Series for 2008. IGSA events involve head to head downhill racing competitions where participants routinely reach speeds in excess of 110km/h (65mph) as they hurtle themselves down mountain roads negotiating ninety degree bends and hairpin corners.

anyone interested?  If so lets pick a time to meet and skate!

The bottom 1/2 of the run should be quite easy and fun for all skaters if the
top seems too fast.  Sort of like Pine Flat Road in reverse.

Hi Dave,.

I am open to the time.  The place to meet is at the park and ride at Page Mill Road and Hwy 280.  The park and ride is on the West side of 280.  Warren may have to work and might not make it.  Ron wants to make it but may not be in town.  I have not heard from any other skaters.  For the cigarette smokers I will allow smoking in my car for this trip if we use it to shuttle.    We should not plan on smoking anywhere but in our cars.  Those hills are scary dry.

I go through about 1/2 a brake per run and that is using some T-braking in the mix.  After a few runs I have found I brake a lot less  I do have lots of spare brakes and can bring them.  Leathers are nice but not required in my opinion.

Well  I am up for meeting around 0900, I will try to recruit a driver, it would be much better than taking turns.  I don't think you should open your ride up for cigarette smoking, it makes cars smell nasty.

To be more specific, I am looking for a pair of downhill skates. I
NEED a pair of skates like these! Downhill skates I need to have
skates that will allow me to slide and skate like in the videos.

I am looking to buy a new pair of downhill inline skates with 5
wheels. These guys in the clips are awesome. I really would like to
get a pair of skates that will allow me to skate like this (but not
so extreme). The skates are a few years old and I can't find them on
the internet. Does anyone know where I can get a set up similar to
this? I have checked all of the top skate sites stateside and came
up with no 5 wheel skates like this. Please help.

Yes, I should never eat a crepe while skating backwards.  I always fall when I eat crepes on skates..
