Frames for Downhill   Message List

Hi from Sydney Australia. I had the pleasure of skating with John
(founder of this site) and his friends from Brisbane recently on our
Wednesday night city skate here. Nice to find some others keen on
downhill over here.

Wondering if anyone can help me with advice on frames for downhill.
I'm considering a 5 x 90mm frame – does anyone have experience with
these or similar? My set up now is a 5 x 80 frame which is longer
than average (345mm axle to axle or 13.8 inch, slightly longer than
the standard 5 x 84 frame) so a 5 x 90 is only a bit longer (roughly
16mm or 2/3 inch). I wonder how much difference it would make
therefore, though I guess the bigger wheels would be nice, especially
on rougher roads, a few of which we have here.

Cheers, Sean
