Definition: Draft Train: A draft train consists of two or more racers,
in a single file line, assuming the same line down the hill. This is
typical in Inline Downhill Heat racing, whether through co-operative
effort or not.
Option 3: Pushing that results from incidental contact due to drafting
is allowed because it is a result of utilizing gravity to accelerate,
using racer form and skill to navigate the race course and field to
derive the most speed and best race position as long as the contact
fits the following criteria:
1. the push is a result of rear racer drafting momentum and transfers
speed to the front racer.
2. The push is not a result of the rear racer using additional, arm,
leg or otherwise body strength to accelerate the front racer faster
than would have been achieved through drafting momentum.
3. The push is only allowed as an open hand push on some portion of
the racer from the rear to front racer and the push is not unwanted by
the front racer.
Pushing from the back is considered a normal part of racing in a drafting
train. However, racers may not hold other racers. The pushed/held racer's
opinion will be considered
when determining if there is a rule violation.
IF the lead racer waves off the drafting racer, from a pushing
action, and the drafting skater does not cease from the push action,
the drafting skater would be in violation of above ruling.
Holding another racer or any sort of "INTENTIONAL or UNINTENTIONAL"
contact that "CONTROLS" the movement of another racer either through
grabbing, holding, steering is strictly prohibited. A racer may be
disqualified for these actions.
I would be satisfied with this and vote to have it submitted to the IGSA for
inclusion into the Inline Downhill rules.
The next race is Sept 17 for Bonelli #5. We should have this too him before
Sept1st.
VOTE now!
