The Town: Athens Ohio, home to Ohio University is one of the most
beautiful locations for a spring event in Ohio. Tucked in the Hocking
Hills, the areas beauty will only be disrupted by the sounds of street
luges and thousands of screaming fans. Thats right.thousands. Ohio
University is home to nearly 20,000 students who, along with fans from out
of town, and towns people, are all expected to come out and take in the
racing. A DJ has been hired to keep the excitement flowing all day. Unlike
many events, a marketing plan has been set up well in advance to bring in
as many fans, newspapers, radio stations, and TV stations as possible!
Press releases, posters, and flyers have already been sent out to every
accessible media outlet.
Race Course: The course will curve its way through the downtown
streets of Athens Ohio. Starting in N High St, the course will begin on a
steep slope downhill. The course then turns 90 degrees left onto W
Washington for a stretch before cutting back down the steep S Congress St.
Make a short jog across Union St. The course will then proceed through
some minor curve down the long Richland Ave. straight. The course ends
after a 90 degree swerve into a short stretch before the finish.
Classes: Classes offered will be Unlimited Street Luge, Classic Style,
¾ Fairing Gravity Bike, Stock Gravity Bike, and Downhill Inline Skating,
depending on entries. These classes are open to all competitors, and IGSA
National Points will be awarded to all competitors.
Technical Inspection: All racing vehicles and safety equipment will be
subject to a strict technical inspection before being allowed on the race
course. Complete rules and regulations are available at

leathers.
Entry Fees: A small entry fee of 60 dollars for the first class, and
20 dollars per additional additional will be required. All entries should
be mailed to the race organizer

Junior Discount: Competitors aged 18 and under receive a 50% discount
on entry fees!
Late Registration: Registration for the event will be open till the
mourning of the event with a $20 late fee for entries received after April
12th.
Pre Event Riders Meeting: All riders must be at the course by 8 am
Saturday the 17th for a riders meeting.
Practice: We will allow for as many practice runs as possible
beginning at 9am until 11am.
Qualifying: One qualifying run will rank riders for finals heats.
Racing: All racing will begin at 2pm. 4 man heats, with the top 2
riders advancing, will determine the winner.
Directions: From the airport, take 670 east towards I-270. Take 1-270
south. Take the US33 exit S/E towards Lancaster. Remain on US33 through
Lancaster, and Nelsonville for approximately 60 miles. Take the State St.
exit and turn right onto State St. Continue on State St until Congress.
Turn left onto congress and follow that for just under a mile. At the
bottom of the hill will be a large round building called the Convocation
Center, this will be the finish of the race, and pit area.
Airlines: The closest major airport to the event in Port Columbus.
Rental vehicles are readily available at the airport. From the airport to
the event site is approx. 1.5 hours
Lodging: A discounted rate is in the works as of right now. As soon as
this is finished it will be posted without delay.
Racers Party: After the racing, there will be an after party at one of
the selected locations around Athens. This will be announced as soon as
plans are finalized.
Concessions: Downtown Athens is home to a plethora of bars and
restaurants available all day. Food vendors will try to be arranged to be
in or near the pit area.

Friday-
Saturday 9am: Set up for organizers and volunteers.
6am 11am: Tech inspection open
8am- 8:30am Riders Meeting in the pit area
9am- 11am: Practice
11am-1pm: Qualifying
1pm-2pm: Intermission
2pm-6pm: Finals
6pm: Awards
6pm-: Clean up for race volunteers
9pm: After party (location to be announced ASAP)
